Service Engine Light On problems of the 2001 Chevrolet 2500

Two problems related to service engine light on have been reported for the 2001 Chevrolet 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2008

2001 Chevrolet silverado 8. 1 liter engine will intermittently stall in traffic. Service engine light is on and dealer diagnostics say it is a faulty crankshaft position sensor. There is already a recall out for this (gm recall 06083) or NHTSA campaign id # 07v521000, however, the dealership says that my VIN # is not covered. My vehicle is exhibiting the identical problems outlined in the recall, so the problem is obviously larger than the few VIN's that they are covering.

2 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2008

Over the past few months I have been experiencing my truck completely shutting down regardless of how fast or slow I'd be driving. Having to drive in busy rush hour traffic and through construction zones, it's my opinion that this is an extreme safety concern, not only for myself but others. My truck is at a mechanic's shop and the mechanic told me that there's a code in the computer module that indicates a "crankshaft positioning sensor and engine stall" and that general motors has a recall relating to this. When I called a local dealership, connell Chevrolet in copperas cove, texas they told me that my vehicle wasn't included in the recall "because I couldn't honestly tell them that the 'service engine soon light' had came on; and that my truck wasn't running poorly (or a word to that affect). I also contacted general motors and they basically told me the same thing. I am having my truck repaired as I prepare this complaint and I honestly and sincerely hope that general motors includes the symptoms I've experienced and expand the recall, and that anyone who had work done by a mechanic other than at a dealership be reimbursed for the repairs. This problem has existed intermittently over the past few months, as mentioned above. The last incident date is indicated below:.
