| Service Brakes problems |
While driving out of my driveway, I suddenly lost both power steering and power brakes. I was able to get back into my driveway, but with considerable effort. I called my mechanic and was advised that the power steering pump had failed, causing the power brakes to fail, also. The power steering pump shaft broke. I use the truck mostly to tow a horse trailer. I shudder to think what may have happened had the failure occurred on my way to a camp site on a curving two lane road. I researched the failure on line and discovered it is not a rare occurrence, and has been happening to several model year Chevrolet trucks. This is a low mileage vehicle I purchased new. It has never been abused or misused.
The vehicle has a trailer brake issue, the trailer brake intermittely gives you a message saying service trailer brake and you loose brake system connection and the trailer brakes do not work, gm has been aware of the issue since 2007 but cannot and will not fix the issue, they use tempory fixes that last 5-12 months andthen when you are ot of warranty they will keep charging you and do not fix the issue, the trailer brake message comes up even when there is no trailer connected, gm claims it a short, modulue, your equiptment, water, the plug, there engineers dont even know how to fix it, I have tried all reasources and still have the same issue. I personaly have spent over 5000. 00 and still have the same problem some one needs to address gm about this before someone get seriously injured or there is a mojor crash because you loose the brake and cnnot stop the vehicle because the trailer brakes dont work due to the manufatures defect in there wire harness or trailer brake system.
