1 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2016

Here I am 2016 and the third time I have to replace rusted corrosive brake lines and fuel lines. This time I only put 3500 miles on the truck since the last time. They are on the verge or blowing out, the first two times they did and lucky was able to stop. The fuel line is gone again also. Why??.

2 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2015

I was driving my 2001 silverado 2500 hd and when I applied my brakes the vehicle started to slow down as expected. All of the sudden the brake pedal went to the floor and I had to press very hard to get the vehicle to completely stop. I am extremely lucky there was no vehicle in front of me and that I was not going very fast when the brakes failed! I took the vehicle to my repair shop and they found a brake line near a block (under the driver seat area) that had blown a hole in it. All the lines at the block were very corroded and need to be replaced. They stated usually the brake line blows out in the rear and that my rear line looked to be in pretty bad shape as well but that it had not blown yet. If I would have been on the highway or going any speed in traffic I would have plowed through something for sure. . . I cannot believe this type of safety hazard has not been a recall! I would think gm would at least send out a warning letter of the failure possibility. I now feel the need to do a random google search for other possible life threatening failures gm doesn't feel the need to notify owners of. Very disappointed.

3 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

Extreme brake line corrosion will require a complete brake system replacement. There is no way that this type of corrosion is due to anything other than a problem with the materials that gm chose to use. Nhtsa should force gm to recall these vehicles for inferior and dangerous components.

4 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2014

While driving the brake line ruptured causing pedal to sink to the floor. Upon inspection, all the brake lines were completely rusted and degraded to the point of needing to be replaced.

5 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2014

Placed foot on brake and started vehicle. When it started the pedal went to the floor. My son happened to be standing next to the truck and said there was fluid coming out by the front tire on the driver's side. Shut the engine off. He checked where the fluid was coming from and saw that all the brake lines were rusted.

6 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

8 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2013

Traffic stopped quickly ahead right after light had changed to green. Slammed on my brakes, abs went on and my pedal went to the floor, pulled over and found brake fluid flowing under drivers side door. Truck is at the dealers. . . . . . . . . . Rusted brake lines.

9 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2013

Rusty brake lines, they shouldn't rust out and fail thus causing a dangerous situation. I pulled up to my destination and applied the brakes, the brake pedal went completely to the floor and the vehicle only slowed down. I then applied the pedal quickly several times and the vehicle eventually stopped but way past it's mark. By luck there wasn't anything in the way or I would have hit anything in it's path. At the low speed I was traveling it was possible to come to a stop . A landscaping timber chocked the front wheels at the front to help make the stop possible. My biggest concerns are , what if I was going faster as I was just minutes before. When the brake fluid sprayed out of the broken rusty brake line , the resulting smoke cloud was my only warning. ,no warning and total loss of brakes and stopping ability. I was fortunate I was going slow when this happened and I didn't hit anyone or anything.

10 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2013

Pulling trailer needed to make a quick stop and the truck would not slow down. If it were not for the trailer brakes I would have rear ended a car trying to make a left turn. Stopped at neatest gm dealer and found out one brake line had bursted due to rust and corrosion. Ended up have to replace all four brake lines to make my truck safe to drive. Cost $800. 00.

11 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2013

One of the brake lines has rusted clear through and ruptured when I pressed on the brake pedal. Looking at the other lines, it appears that they are about to rust through as well. I have other vehicles that are much older and more miles that the brake lines are like new. There is a flaw in the lines installed on my truck.

14 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2012

Brake line failure due to corrosion (rust). Brake line to rear wheels sprung leak and stopping was difficult. Had this been at higher speed, could have fatality. The material the brake lines are made of should not be used to make brake lines. Checked brake lines and they are all heavily corroded. All will have to be replaced. Similarly the fuel line is heavily corroded between tank and engine. It is apparent that saving a few pennies on cost of brake lines alloy, is more important to gm than the lives of the occupants of the vehicles.

15 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

After getting the truck home, my mechanic came and looked it over and found the rear brake line on the left side of the truck was completed rotted out and will have to be replaced. 18 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2011

I was slowing down, coming to a 4 way stop. That was when the brakes went to the floor board, and I went through the 4 way without stopping!!!! I was very lucky because there was nobody going through that 4 way at that time!!! the brake line under the driver side door had leak do to rusting!!!! also I had just drop off my travel trailer before this happened. Couldn't imagine what would have happen trying to stop 9500lbs!!!!!!!!!.

20 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2011

The brake lines on my 2001 Chevrolet 2500hd have completely rusted out. I was backing out of my drive way in reverse and went to step on the brake an the pedal went to the floor. I rolled to the end of my driveway, across the street and through my neighbor's fence. My emergency brake only slowed my speed in reverse and did not stop me. The brake line on the driver side rear is rusted through and broken off at the flange at the rear wheel. Inspection shows all of the brake lines are severely corroded and will need to be replaced. I am lucky this failure did not happen at a major intersection or in an emergency stop situation on the highway.
