Failure Date: 06/11/2014

Going down the highway at approx 60 miles per hour. Truck turned off. This has happened several times. All electrical appears to be working. Other trucks with same model year had a recall under gm recall no. 06083. I have the same engine but they say mine is not subject to the recall.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2002 Chevrolet 2500

Failure Date: 09/24/2013

The truck was hooked to a 25' gooseneck trailer loaded with hay. The engine was the duramax diesel with allison transmission. The intent was to haul hay from eastern washington to western washington. The power steering pump broke a shaft inside the pump making the power steering unusable. As it turns out the power steering pump also serves as the power brake assist. At a speed of about 3 lmph, it was all I could do to brake the truck but was unable to turn the wheels. It was very fortunate that this happened in the farmers field and not on the highway. If I had been driving on the highway when the pump quit working, the truck would have gone off of the roadway, most likely over a steep cliff because I would have been unable to steer the truck or stop it due to the single pump failure. Additionally, the load of hay would have caused the truck to pick up speed if it was going down hill.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2001 Chevrolet 2500

Failure Date: 04/05/2003

Turck engine has a knock that I was told by the dealer and gm that it was simply a cold start knock. However, I was told by a personal friend at the gm tech center that it is really a piston slap, and is a result of the pistons being too small for the bore which could lead to engine seizure/failure, and that gm is aware of it! the truck knocks even when engine is warm. I have begged for a repair under the trucks warranty but have been denied. I am concerned that at some point the engine could seize and cause a serious accident and harm to myself and others. Gm seems to think if they pretend it is a different problem, and if they cross their fingers they will save money and avoid a recall. The dealer indicated to me that they know what the problem is and so does gm but there is nothing they can do for me. At one point gm was offering to extend my warranty but renigd because I was the second owner, even though I paid for their extended warranty. Please investigate before someone owning one of these trucks does have the engine sieze and innocent people are hurt! incident date is approximate as I have taken the truck to the dealer many times on many dates in hopes of getting this problem fixed because they want me to go away.
