Going down the highway at approx 60 miles per hour. Truck turned off. This has happened several times. All electrical appears to be working. Other trucks with same model year had a recall under gm recall no. 06083. I have the same engine but they say mine is not subject to the recall.

On show covered road my brakes lines ruptured causing me to slam into a tree. The pedal went right to the floor. After inspecting the truck we found all the steel brakes have rusted out and needing replacement. Dealer quote was $1. 700. 00.
Blew a break line at 35 mph due to rust and having to do a panic stop because someone pulled out in front of me. Lines are completely rusted out! I have heard of this being a major gm problem!! thank god I did not have my boat or back hoe behind me!!!.
Tl-the contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet silverado 2500 hd. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the brake and abs warning indicators illuminated intermittently. The failure occurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 59,000. The VIN was unavailable. Js.
Head on collision hit the brakes and truck jumped. When vehicles hit seatbelt didn't lock right away which threw me forward and into the drivers side door. It was a head on accident and airbags never went off which make the emt's and police concerned do to the damage to the truck. .
Traveling at 65 mph brakes all of a sudden the brakes were applied w/o applying them loss of steering control etc. Evaluating this problem ii saw that the brake pedal was going down to the floor, so I pulled up on it with my foot and the brakes released but steering control did not resume. I got off at the next exit and very slowly made my way on home. Any application of the brake pedal resulted in brakes locking up and they were applied so tightly that any acceleration could not speed up unless I pulled up on the brake pedal. Upon arriving home looked things over no power steering unless motor was at high rpm, power steering pump looked as if it expelled fluid out the breather cap and the brakes smelled as if very hot. Now that this happened I recognized this had happened before but somehow repaired itself, but not to this extreme. I suffered bruises from shoulder harness and seatbelt and some knots on my head from being thrown around I came so close to out of control and a rollover simply couldn't control my truck.
Rusted break lines.

Late on July 30, I had a single vehicle accident. I was driving down the interstate / toll road on the way back from the airport. I had cruise control set to 75mph. With no warning, my rear wheels locked up. My truck skidded into a bridge. State farm recommended my vehicle be taken to purifoy Chevrolet for repairs. When I was notified by purifoy and state farm that my vehicle was repaired, I asked the purifoy shop manager, my state farm agent, and my state farm claims representative if the vehicle had been inspected for the cause of the locked-axle condition which caused the crash and injured me. All stated the vehicle had been inspected, repaired, and certified safe to drive. I paid my deductible and drove home the vehicle and parked it in my garage. Within days, I used the vehicle and the axle locked up again - badly worsening my physical injuries from the first crash and causing me to be put into several more weeks of physical therapy. I am still under a doctor's care. And, I am still in physical therapy recovering from the injuries. My physical therapist has noted into my medical records that the second occurrence greatly prolonged my healing by adding additional injury to that which previously occurred from the first crash. After this second occurrence, I took my vehicle to a local shop. The shop manger locally stated this was a well-known condition of Chevrolet trucks: the rear axle vent tube was manufactured too small; the tube plugs; this forces axle grease into the emergency brake hub; the emergency brake becomes saturated and swells to close proximity to the hub; when the brake heats up, it automatically applies and cannot be released until the wheel rolls slightly backward. The local shop manager replaced both axle seals, cleaned and resized the vent, and installed new emergency brakes. This corrected the locked wheel/axle condition.
When coming to a stop, at speeds of less than 5mph, the brake pedal goes to the floor as if the abs is activating. This happens on smooth dry pavement. Taken to several mechanics and dealers and everyone says everything is working the way it should. I've heard of other owners of this make/model experiencing the same problems. Whenever I let someone else drive my truck, I make sure I stress that it will not stop when it should, so far no wrecks. Andrew aquilano.

The vehicle has a trailer brake issue, the trailer brake intermittely gives you a message saying service trailer brake and you loose brake system connection and the trailer brakes do not work, gm has been aware of the issue since 2007 but cannot and will not fix the issue, they use tempory fixes that last 5-12 months andthen when you are ot of warranty they will keep charging you and do not fix the issue, the trailer brake message comes up even when there is no trailer connected, gm claims it a short, modulue, your equiptment, water, the plug, there engineers dont even know how to fix it, I have tried all reasources and still have the same issue. I personaly have spent over 5000. 00 and still have the same problem some one needs to address gm about this before someone get seriously injured or there is a mojor crash because you loose the brake and cnnot stop the vehicle because the trailer brakes dont work due to the manufatures defect in there wire harness or trailer brake system.
