Three problems related to transmission failure have been reported for the 1996 Chevrolet Astro. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Transmission completely failed driving down road. Vehicle has been serviced.
Transmission has been replaced by consumer two times since July 01, 1999 at 109,000 miles and 169,000 miles. During first failure, consumer traveled at approximately 70 mph when transmission failed ,and left him stranded. During second occurrence engine check light came on. Dealership informed consumerthat it was slipping according to the computer code, and that it needed to be replaced.
1996 Chevrolet Astro with transmission failure. Consumer believes that the part that failed was the sunshell. He heard that if this part fails, the reverse and some forward gears will be lost.
