I have a 1998 chevy Astro van that qualifies for a expired warranty for gm that is related to a defect in their fuel injection system that causes them to stick open or closed. I was never notified by chevy about this problem and was not properly diagnosed by a mechanic until this year. The bulletin/warranty number 99066e and it states that all repairs relating to this problem would be covered no charge to the vehicle owner as long as it's within 10 years or 200,000 miles. So, I'm 3 years out of warranty and I have 217,000 miles. It doesn't seem right that chevy never contacted me about this and I've had to pay for numerous repairs related to the fuel system in this vehicle over the years without that could have been avoided if I had my fuel injection system fixed. These vans are known to run up to 450,000 miles. The operation of my vehicle is vital in this economy. I really would appreciate this warranty extended to me. I have contacted chevy/gm and they just read the warranty back and deny me repair or tell me to get it fixed at the dealership. Why should I have to pay for a repair that there is a warranty that states that they are at fault and it's related to fuel deposits in California fuel?.

A year and a half ago there as a loss of power and an engine miss. A fuel system cleaning in a shop cleared this up. Then at the end of December the van would no start. We had it towed to our local meineke. It was determined the sequential central port injector had failed. This is a documented problem for a defective part. I wrote a letter to gm to ask for reimbursement. They refused because I did not go to a dealership. And meinke used an after market part.

Additonal failure dates / 8-11-99 @20544 mi. , 12-2-99 @ 21932 mi. , 6-30-00 @24992mi, 10-13-00 @26737 mi. , as you can see the problem repetes at about every 2000 - 2500 miles. Chevy says its a problem with the gas blends in CA & NY only? if this is true then why are they not having problems with all of there engines? the injection ports are defective and they refuse to fix repalce them. Instead they bring the van in for a "injector cleaning" per chevy bulletin. The engine runs so rough it shakes the whole van! the fuel injector design is defective and needs to be fixed/recalled!.

Engine misfires and runs poorly setting off the "check engine soon" light. The first time we took it to the dealer I was told this is very common in Astro vans and I should not use chevron gas. I thought this was strange advice because I never used than brand of gas. I had a record off all the brands of gas I used but the dealer was not interested and I was only told to switch brands. The second time I brought the van in for the same problem I was told to switch brands again. Now there are no brands left to try. Each time the dealer added a clearner to the gas tank and idled the car for 45 minutes to "clean" the sticking injectors. The van also gets very bad gas mileage. I wrote a letter to gm and I was told that it was a technical problem that the dealer must solve.
Problem has accurred four times in the one year I've owned it.
Fuel injector system failed.
Fuel injection system failed.
Fuel injection computer failed. Yh.
Defective fuel injector plug needs to be cleaned every 15,000 for which the manufacturer has an extended warranty. This may cause a crash. Please provide further information.
While driving downhill vehicle cut off, causing it to lose power brakes and power steering due a faulty fuel injection. Dealer has tried to repair, but problem reoccurred.
Fuel injection and main computer were replaced because fuel leaked where gas ran through electrical harness into computer (vcm).
