No warning. Fuel pump failed in busy traffic. Engine died due to lack of fuel. Danager to driver and children while trying to manuever vehicle to side of the road. Filter changed per dealer instructions and still failed. Dangerous condition with imperils driver and passengers if vehicle dies while driving in heavy traffic.
Sirs,
I recently had to replace the fuel pump in the fuel tank of my 2000 chevy all wheel drive Astro van, because it contains the sending unit that controls the fuel gage on the dash, and that funtion failed. The pump had begun to make a loud noise. I have retained the old part. The bill for replaceing the pump, with labor, came to $560. 46. I priced a complete dell dimension 2400 computer system, including shipping and it was only $494. 00. This is out ragious having to pay $560. 46 for an auto fuel pump. Where can I get relief? this is a ripoff and it must be stopped. Thanks,
michael coleman

While driving at 20-25mph fuel pump went out without any warning vehicle came to a complete stop , brakes got hard and there was no power steering.
Upon removal of defective fuel pump assy contained within the gas tank the fuel pump ground wire had melted and shorted to the positive lead to the fuel gauge sender. It seems to me that if the wiring inside the gas tank is not housed in sometype of protective assy to prevent such failures it would not only be a faulty design but pose a very serious safety issue. Fortunately excessive heat or sparks did not occur due to this failure. Had there been enough heat or sparking from the shorted wiring, most likely there would have been a resulting fire and/or explosion. I am also concerned on how such failures resulting in a fire and/or explosion could ever be determined since the evidence of poor design would most likely be destroyed by fire and/or explosion. Have there been many unexplained fires or explosions on this model vehicle? I do hope someone will contact me on this issue!.
My Mini van always starts shaking when brakes are applied I went through six time fixing problem , I put new discs drums shoe pads shocks alignment rebalance everything we could do I'am very disaapointed at Chevrolet for their vehicle performance I even put a new gear box, the fuel gage does'nt work they told at croppers Chevrolet in nogales az. I need to replace the fuel pump they could not fix the gage I am so dissapointed I bought a Toyota and as soon as I can I'll trade this vehicle . One thing I learned is go with an import vehicle.
Fuel pump is creating a humming noise. Consumer has taken vehicle to dealership, and had fuel pump replaced. Replaced fuel pump is making same noise. The original fuel pump was replaced because the gas guage stoped working.
Vehicle would stall, but start back up. After so many times fuel pump was installed. Few days later it repeated the problem again. Connector was burnt inside the fuel tank. Dealer wouldn't be responsible for the problem.

Fuel pump failure driving down the freeway at 60 mph. This could be dangerous in heavy traffic. Major expense for the mileage on the vehicle.

During normal operation of vehicle, it sounds as if an explosion occurs in the front end of vehicle. This has occurred four times, and dealership replaced both front brake calipers twice. Also, found a short in the fuel pump. Has not examined vehicle for the last incident. Consumer states brake pedal is very soft and sometimes goes to the floor, the calipers break and cause a loud noise, consumer states braking power has been lost on three occasions. Vehicle stalled on one occasion. Consumer no longer drives this vehicle. Left side door lock inoperative, dealer replaced the actuator. Right side upper control arm bolts loose causing noise, left rear leaf spring u bolt mispositioned hitting axle tube, causing knocking noise.
