Diagnostic system was defective and didn't provide warning that the engine was overheating. The book states the service engine soon light comes on to indicate that there is a problem and service is required. Malfunctions often will be indicated by the system before any problem is apparent. 2 Service Engine Light On problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Astro

Failure Date: 12/20/2000

Sliding door would close whenever parked on a decline, there is nothing to lock door in that situation. Dealer notified, and informed consumer it cannot be fixed, and nothing will be done. Vehicle stalled intermittently hot or cold on very light acceleration from a stop, dealer could not find problem, service engine light also illuminated. Rear liftgate hatch binded due to lack of lubrication.

3 Service Engine Light On problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Astro

Failure Date: 05/07/2000

Service engine soon light illuminated and rough running engine, dealer states problem is with the fuel injector, however this will be consumer's fourth time to the dealer for the same problem, the dealer uses injector treatment/cleaner as stated in service bulletin (00-06-04-003). Possibly engine related.
