Takata inflators we were parked at a store when we were leaving we heard a big loud pop like an explosion or like someone hit us on the passenger side smoke came out of the hood on the passenger side , seat belts locked up very tight emergency lights went on and dash board announced service airbag drove it home very carefully. The next day I had a friend come connect a diagnostic computer to see what's the problem it said airbag deployed that same day I called :gmbrcpac@gm. Com they called me back early the next morning they were able to tow it to Chevrolette turlock auto mall to inspect it took them a week to even take a look at it finally my husband went in and now they are trying to say it's smthing completely different that the air bag is intact it even cracked the dash board on the side u can see the air bag compartment is lifted but it has to do with some seat belt sensor we are meeting tomorrow to see what they came up with but didn't sound good they were saying we had other problems like water leakage which we never had we have had the truck since 2011 never had a major problem with it we took good care of it and we want it fixed very disappointed in Chevrolet they were willing to pay for car rental but wanted me to pay for insurance out if my pocket I've been borrowing my sisters car and I dnt think that was fair either.

3 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2017

"takata recall" takata corporation (takata) has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2007-2011 Cadillac escalade, escalade esv, escalade ext, Chevrolet Avalanche, silverado 1500, suburban, tahoe, GMC sierra 1500, yukon, yukon xl, and 2009-2011 Chevrolet silverado 2500/3500 and GMC sierra 2500/3500 vehicles. This is based upon takata's decision that front passenger airbag inflators it supplied to gm are defective. Gm has submitted to NHTSA a petition for inconsequentiality and NHTSA has granted gm until August 2017 to complete its investigation and to submit all data supporting the petition. If the petition is denied, gm will conduct a recall of the airbag inflators covered by takata's defect information report. . Read more...

4 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2017

Takata recall - called my local chevy dealership and was again told gm has not provided a fix/replacement for the defective airbag inflators. The dealership inform me I had to call gm customer satisfaction directly. I called gm customer satisfaction and was told that gm is internally conducting tests on the takata airbags and currently feel there is no "unreasonable" risk but they are still investigating and reviewing the situation. If the manufacturer (takata) has determined there is a defect and risk based on their airbag inflator design I want the inflator replaced and not run the risk that it falsely goes off causing physical harm or death to a passenger. The risk in gm's opinion might be low meaning their cost analysis between settling claims versus replacing the inflators in potentially millions of vehicles is driving their inaction. Gm said if there is an update I can check their recall website and they would be sending out letters - this is the same thing they told me about a year ago and I've received no update from gm.

6 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2017

Takata recall on my air bag inflator is having a major effect on trading my vehicle in for a new vehicle and has reduced my value. This open recall with no gm solution is currently a real problem for me.

7 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2016

Received a notice on a recall that states that around the end of may 2016 gm began notifying owners that a recall was in place for defective airbag inflators that may degrade over time especially in hot and humid climates. That they pose a rupture risk and from researching on the NHTSA website if this happens metal particles could injure occupants. . . But gm states the vehicle is safe? and that parts are not available for repair yet. So my question, it's late August 2016 and I live in dallas, TX with hot humid days for months, what is considered an appropriate time to resolve? and how is this not a concern and considered safe??? my irritation is that if I have a susceptible pipe bomb here, why isn't there an immediate corrective action happening??.

8 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2016

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags) for the frontal passenger air bag inflator. The parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the recall was not their responsibility. The local dealer (jud kuhn Chevrolet located at 3740 hwy 9 e, little river, south carolina 29566) stated that the parts were not available. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

9 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 05/27/2016

Takata recall it has been over a year since I received the recall notice with no remedy to date. While gm considers the vehicle safe to drive, the safety risk description states: "the propellant in some types of takata airbag inflators can degrade over time, especially after long term exposure in hot and humid regions. If the propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflators may rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries". This does not sound safe to me, especially since I live in sugar land, TX where there are long periods of high heat and humidity which effects the airbag degradation. Can anyone help finalize the situation and get this recall taken care of? thank you! randall d. Ritter.

10 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2014

Takata inflators:my air bag light came on, it was reset and came back on a short time after. I have electrical issues with cruise control, radio and fan for heat and a/c. Once in s while I get a smell ofburning wire. My transmission began bumping on acceleration several months ago also when cranking it move forward a bit in park. The transmission bump is when accelerating, the electrical issues are random, the airbag light stays on.
