Five problems related to side/window air bag have been reported for the 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
We had a blowout on our 2008 chevy Avalanche. When the tire blew out, all the side air bags deployed. No crash happened! only a tire blowing!! going less than 10mph.
Last week several cracks appeared in the dash around the passenger side airbag in my low mileage, garaged 2008 Avalanche. Upon researching the issue I found that it is a well know defect with dashes in 2007 to 2013 chevy trucks and that gm refuses to help those who experience the cracking. I am very fearful of the injuries that the shattered plastic would cause to the front seat passengers should the airbag deploy, so I have no other choice but to pay up to fix the gm issue. Gm, if not willing to defray the entire cost, should offer a substantial rebate for the repair.
"takata recall" recall notice on faulty takata driver side air bag in our '08 Avalanche received July 2016 from general motors. Have yet to hear anything in return. Followed up with h & h Chevrolet in omaha ne (dealership of purchase) 11/2/17 regarding the recall (steve french and nick pabla). Still have not received a return response.
Dashboard is cracking by passenger side airbag and in front of driver.
The dashboard plastic has cracked in several places including the passenger side air bag panel. The plastic is brittle and has sharp edges- it would lacerate a face or arm easily.
