1 Cruise Control problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Avalanche

Failure Date: 10/26/2015

On 10/13/2015 I took my Avalanche to galles Chevrolet , albuquerque, nm for repair of a cracked instrument cluster and faulty l/r door lock actuator. I picked it up on 10/15/2015. While parking the truck on 10/17/2015 I shut off the engine and suddenly there was no power to lock the locks with the key fob. It was as if the battery I had had replaced new about 6 weeks prior suddenly went dead. Then I heard a clicking noise in the doors/lock actuators and suddenly the battery power was restored. I next experienced this problem while driving on new mexico hwy 485 on 10/25/2015 only worse. While driving for about 10 miles at speeds of between 35-50 mph the door lock actuators locked and unlocked the doors numerous times, the airbag, stabilatrac, and abs sensor alarms kept activating and the cruise control suddenly disengaged many times again while driving. When we reached our destination about 10 minutes later I turned off the ignition and immediately lost battery power and heard the same clicking noises in the doors and needed a hotshot from another driver to get restarted. We were able to drive home in the darkness with all equipment and lights working without further incident. On 10/26/2015 I experienced another incident of sudden sensor and lock activations and alarms while driving in traffic and the hwy. This went on intermittently for about 10 minutes and then stopped. I had the battery, charging system and fault codes checked by a firestone mechanic 2x on 10/26/2015 but no faults were found in the computer and the battery and charging system checked out good. The technician mentioned that the only possible explanation was that the battery or one of the computer modules was somehow losing its ground contact but he checked each of ground contact wires and found each securely connected. I will try to take a video of these events if it occurs again .

2 Cruise Control problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Avalanche

Failure Date: 01/25/2013

Cracked, broken dashboard. Cracked in 2 corners of the passenger air bag. Crack goes all the way across to the drivers side. A section around the speaker has completely broke off. Cruise control no longer workers. Some speakers work sometimes, other times other ones work. Makes horrible rattling sound. Dealership says won't cover it and a new dash is over $800 for parts.

3 Cruise Control problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche

Failure Date: 11/30/2012

Traveling on freeway at approx 55 mph with cruise control engaged. Accelerated to pass truck, when let off the accelerator my truck went into passing gear and accelerated rapidly to 80+mph. Applied brake and attempted to disengage cruise control. Neither worked. Place vehicle in neutral and rpms went to approx 6500 rpm, then motor shut off. Coasted to side should. Police was behind me and wrote me a ticket for 80 mph. Officer was not interested in listening to problems I had encountered. Wrote me a ticket for $728. 93. Approx 1. 5 hours later I was returning home and tried cruise control. It immediately accelerated into passing gear and would not disengage. I put the truck into neutral and rpms went to over 6000rpm and shut off motor. Depressing brake peddle would not disengage cruise control. Stopped on side restarted truck and disengaged cruise control. I was successful on the disengage. I did not use the cruise control any more and reported issue to Chevrolet dealer. Two weeks later, I was parked in front of a store. When I started the truck and put intro reverse, the truck accelerated at high rate. Applied brake and shut the engine off. I removed the cruise control/rear camera fuse. It did not disable the cruise control. I have not driven the truck since. Waiting for appointment with local dealer to have investigated.

5 Cruise Control problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche

Failure Date: 05/01/2004

Cruise control stopped working at 36,000 miles. Thought it was a blown fuse so I had it looked at by the dealer service department at approx. 40,000 miles when I had it in for another problem. Service center told me it was a bad chip and it would cost us $500. 00 for a new one. They were not willing to work with us or contact gm to see if they might assist with the repair since it happened so close to the time our warranty expired. So we still have no cruise control on our "$40,000 dollar" vehicle!.

The transmission light illuminated about five minutes while cruise control was activated. The illumination lasted also, until the speed reduced to 40 miles per hour. The gas mileage increased during this time.
