Brakes Failed Problems of Chevrolet Aveo

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the brakes failed causing the vehicle to move involuntarily. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure and the current mileages were 47,000.

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph the brake warning lamps illuminated and the brakes failed to engage. The contact mentioned that she was able to stop the vehicle by engaging the emergency brake. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 30,600 and the current mileage was 30,660.

When turning vehicle all the way to left or right brakes fail to operate correctly. The brake pedal becomes hard and gives you less than 10% braking function. Is not intermittent, it happens every time vehicle is turned completely to left or right and the brake is applied.

Backing up from a parked postion applied the brakes and they did not respond. A vacuum leak from a cracked/broken rubber elbow caused the brakes to fail. Over the past 2-1/2 years the elbow has been replaced 5 times the the same thing.

The consumers vehicle had brake failure on four different occasions. When applying the brakes there was no braking capability. This happened only when the vehicle was in reverse ,and after the vehicle had been parked overnight. The service dealer could not duplicate the problem to determine the cause of the brake failures.
