My headlights are grey on the bottom so I can't see to drive at night. I changed headlights but there appeared to be a big problem installing the new lights. I paid $60. 00 for the new lights. There was no improvement. I still can't see to drive at night.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated that the headlights failed. The contact inspected the vehicle and found that the wiring harness connectors shorted due to overheating, which burned and melted the wires. The dealer advised that NHTSA campaign number: 14v261000 (exterior lighting) would only repair the drl module and it would not replace any additional failure caused by the recall. The contact also stated that the engine valve cover gasket was defective and caused the engine fluid to leak. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
I noticed my driver's side headlight was out and wires attached to the headlight underneath the hood had burnt out. The next day the vehicle would not not start at all. I had it jumped off and had a diagnostic ran on the battery. I was told it was not the battery but the alternator. The next day, I decided to take the vehicle to a Chevrolet dealer so I had it jumped off again. Initially, both headlights came on and a minute later; both headlights went out. The dealer kept the car two days before telling me sockets melted, the battery would have to be replaced along with bulbs and wires. Never once did they mention that there was a problem with the 2002-2008 chevy Aveo electrical system. The dealer initially wanted to charge 1027. 42 and they said they had no idea how this problem had occurred. I only had 30,300 miles on the vehicle. The dealer later charged me 563. . 44 but they cut many corners. After some internet research, I discovered that these type of problems have occurred with the chevy Aveo for years! when I contacted gm, their response was that the 3 year warranty had expired so there wasn't much they could do. Gm didn't even mention the electrical system problem!.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated the front headlights malfunctioned. The contact stated that the high beams and the daytime running lights were operable but not the headlights. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer to have the bulb and fuse replaced but the replacement did not remedy the issue. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer a third time and the dealer stated that the entire fuse box needed to be replaced. The contact was unable to have the fuse box replaced because the part was no longer being manufactured and there was not an aftermarket part available for purchase. The contact believed the vehicle was unsafe to drive because the headlights continuously malfunctioned while driving at night. The failure mileage was 75,000.
Headlight failed. I have owned this auto 4 years and have had to replace 6 headlights. I just got a ticket because my headlight was out, and I had replaced a headlight less than 3 months ago. I have never had to replace so many headlights in one vehicle in all my 49 years of driving. These headlights cannot be replaced by the owner, because it requires specialized tools. I have to take my vehicle in for service every time a headlight goes out, so the cost in 3x what the lamp alone costs at a parts store. Something is wrong with the design of this vehicle.
I purchased my '06 chevy Aveo new from friendly Chevrolet in fridley mn and after approximately two years I realized that I was needing to change headlights far too frequently for any car. I asked the dealership about it at the time and was told they knew nothing about any problems. Several other mechanics also looked at it and I was told there is a short somewhere but could not specify where without digging into it. Every other month (approximately) for over three years, one headlamp or the other would go out. I received the lecture about not touching the bulb when installing, though I knew this already, and it was not the problem. Both headlamp plugs are now charred and approximately one month after I got the original recall letter, both headlamps went dim, so dim that the parking lights shed more light, making the vehicle unsafe for driving other than daytime. I was initially told that I need to wait until I can make an appointment to repair it, so waited another month or two and made an appointment, only to be told when I arrived, that there was not a fix for the problem yet. I have had ongoing problems with the friendly chev staff, not being able to contact the service manager michael tidd, and the one occasion I was able to leave message for him, he still has not called back. I have now left message for the general manager, whose name was inaudible on his outgoing message. I need to know what can be done; will gm fix it? do I drive it (daytime only) until it burns?.
