Chevrolet Blazer owners have reported 13 problems related to accelerator stuck (under the vehicle speed control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Chevrolet Blazer based on all problems reported for the Blazer.
Accelerator sticks when applying pressure from a stopped position requiring extra force on accelerator to get vehicle to move. This extra force sometimes makes vehicle lurch forward. In my opinion, this sudden movement creates a very unsafe driving condition. This condition started as an intermittent problem but is now occurring almost every time the vehicle is driven.

Accelerator pedal would stick while driving, dealer was not notified at this time. Feel free to provide any further information.
The accelerator pedal sticks upon acceleration from a stop, when the pedal is at rest. The sticking causes the driver to push a little harder to depress the accelerator. The accelerator then breaks loose and the driver has automatically accelerated heavily eventhough this is not desired. This usually occurs at start up only. While backing in a parking lot, out of a space, this happened to my wife. Upon applying increasing pressure to the accelerator pedal, the pedal finally gave way and was probably depressed 1-2 inches. This caused the vehicle to rocket backward. My wife quickly hit the brakes before backing into the next row of cars, and any pedestrians that might have been near. No accident or injury resulted. I have since duplicated it twice. It always sticks somewhat upon takeoff, but my wife has begun to compensate for it. I rarely drive the vehicle. She will drrive another vehicle until we get this fixed. Needless to say I find this to be a very dangerous condition/defect/engineering design with this vehicle that has a 36k mile warranty, plus a purchased 60k warranty. I contacted two area dealers, not the dealer I purchased it from. Berger Chevrolet in grand rapids, and john decker Chevrolet in rockfrod, mi both have told me to my amazement that this is a "general maintenance" issue. They say it is common on many Blazers, but some do not require the service. This tells me that some are defective, some may not be. Decker charges $50 and berger charges $110 for slightly different levels of service I presume. They already told me over the phone that the throttle plate has carbon buildup on it and it needs to be cleaned off every 15-20,000 miles. I've never owned a vehicle that requires yearly service to keep the throttle/accelerator from sticking. The dealers and the general Chevrolet consumer hotline people all readily admit this condition occurs frequently(800) 222 1020-jacob vanbeek-chev rep, file # c06624128.
Accelerator pedal sticks in idle position. It seems to be worse the first time the pedal is pressed after the engine is first started. However, since 5 months have elapsed since the problem was first noticed, it seems to stick now almost every time the pedal goes back to the idle position. It feels as though something is holding the accelerator in the idle position, as if it is snagged on something. After you apply extra force to overcome the sticking, it travels smoothly with no other snagging. A CO-worker owns a 1997 Blazer and is having the same problem. I have driven at least 2 different company vehicles which were 1998 and 1999 model gm minivans with a similar sticking accelerator. All of these vehicles, including mine, stick only in the idle position. The problem results in the driver having to use excessive force to accelerate from a stop and thus it is difficult to keep from gunning the engine when starting from a stop.
Ongoing problem with accelerator pedal sticking. Has been fixed once and have an appointment to check again. The accelerator has to be pushed hard at times causing a jerky motion. Feels very unsafe.

Vehicle was in gear. Upon depressing accelerator pedal it would stick. Had to depress harder to pass the sticking point & vehicle would jerk forward & take off. Will be taking vehicle to dealer.
Ongoing problem with accelerator pedal sticking. Dealer notified, and repairs were made, but problem still occurring. Please feel free to provide any further details.
Accelerator pedal sticks.
Accelerator sticks. Dealer and manufacturer have been notified.
Consumer states the accelerator sticks upon take off, consumers wife was backing in a parking space when the accelerator became stuck, she thought she was not pressing hard enough as she was backing in, she then pressed more firmly on the accelerator until it quickly freed itself and then rocketed backwards, she was able to quickly hit the brakes and was able to bring the vehicle under control, consumer was informed that the issue is considered regular maintenance, however consumer believes this to be a safety defect.
