On both front seats, the handles to adjust the upright position have broken completely off of the seats.
Driver seat recliner handle broke off. Looks like junk metal was used. I consider this a safety hazard since the seat position could have the driver in the wrong postion in the event the air bags were deployed.
My 1998 Blazer's driver's and passenger's seat adjustment lever broke off when attempting to adjust seat. I am unable to adjust the seat for proper driving position. The driver's seat lever broke at 30,000 miles and the passenger seat lever broke about 40,000 miles. I have been driving this vehicle utilizing vice grips to hold the driver's seat and passenger seat in place. These seats are no longer adjustable and presents a safety hazard. Inquiries from other individuals that own this vehicle have had the same problem. Further investigation revealed that at some point the manufacturer distributed a service bulletin regarding this defect. I am concerned as to why there has not been a recall and why I have not been notified of this ongoing problem. Obviously, numerous consumers owning the Blazer are faced with this same problem. I feel the lever should be replaced at no cost to the consumer since it is apparently a manufacturing defect and a safety issue.
The driver's seat back adjustment lever broke off at the rod connecting it. , no adjusting could be done. The part was repaired, and a new handle had to be ordered, because Chevrolet decidedr rod, made out of a heavier metal, which wouldn't fit the old lever. The resulting charges were $76. 35 for the recliner, $8. 37 for the handle, and $86. 40 for labor. There are just over 59,000 mi. On this 2000 Blazer.
The contact stated when pulling out the driver's side seat will slide backward. The dealership said the locking mechanism broke. The repairs have not been done at this time.

1999 Chevrolet s-10 Blazer experiencing problems with seat recliner handle assembly. The driver side front seat recliner handle failed under normal use. The passenger side front seat recliner handle seemed to have fallen off. The pot metal spline shaft had broken due to the split notch in the shaft when the handle attached. Both handles were replaced free of charge.
The front driver side door was falling off. The way the door was designed made it impossible for hinge to hold the weight of the door. The door was repaired three times by the previous owner. Each time it was repaired it did not last for much more than a year. Consumer had the dealership give her an estimate. When she contacted the manufacturer, they said they might do something for her after she had the repair done. The consumer felt this was a manufacturing defect, and they should pay for the repair or replacement. There were other problems with the vehicle. The seat did not work. There were other parts of it that either broken or were breaking.
While traveling 20 mph and sitting at intersection consumer adjusted the driver's side seat and seat lever sheared off. The seat failed to move back and forth on its own. Consumer drive vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the seat lever needed to be replaced. However, warranty expired. Consumer had to pay for parts and labor.
While adjusting the passenger side seat the latch sheared off. Consumer contacted the dealer, and mechanic asked consumer to bring the vehicle in for inspection.
When reclining driver's seat, the metal post holding the adjustment handle broke off. Had to drive home with seat in reclining position for my husband to fix. He had to use a wrench to raise seat back up. He said the bolts are made out of cheap pot metal and that's why they don't last. The post on the passenger side broke several years ago. We rarely adjust the seat backs. Guess we won't at all now. The driver's side door won't close properly and the fuel gauge bounces between full and empty all the time.
I recently had to replace the ball joints and idler arm on my 1998 Chevrolet Blazer. I was advised by the dealership that this is a constant problem. I do not understand that if the manufacturer knows that there is a problem with the steering components becoming defective, then why don't they solve the problem. This is the third set of balljoints that have needed to be instaledl on the vehicle. The first set along with the pitman arm went defective at 29,000 miles and the dealership replaced them under the manufactures warranty.
Numerous problems. All after warranty expired. Have a 2000 Chevrolet s10 Blazer 2 dr. It is a 4x4 with a 4. 3l v6. Seat handles broke a couple of times. Terrible lifespan on those. Had replaced twice. Replaced defective alternator. Wasn't holding charge. Also led to a new battery and serpentine belt. Had to replace fuses for fuel gauge. It was jumping all over the place giving incorrect readings. Had to replace numerous fuses. Terrible whining coming from the fuel pump. Chevy dealer tells me it is testing fine. But now I am having what seems like vapor lock problems on hot days. I'll go to accelerate and the vehicle will go no where and then catch and accelerate. Acts like it's going to die but hasn't yet. Diagnostics showed nothing. Terribly sporatic and makes vehicle unsafe and unreliable. It has 60,000 miles on it now. Ongoing problem to this day and I'm trying to determine if the lack of acceleration is the pump or another problem. Pedal not sticking like it was a throttle linkage. Rear windshield pump does not work. Chevy rim caps keep breaking and coming off. $30 dollars apprx. For each one and have had to replace all four at least once.
The drivers side front assembly recliner broke when I attempted to use it for the first time. This is an obvious safety defect by reading all the complaints filed on this very issue. Why no recall?.
The lever on the front drivers and passenger seats that reclines the seats back. They snap right off. They have replaced one at cost now both are broke. The bad thing is it happened to me out of town and I had to find some pillows to prop me up enough to drive. Now I have to use pliers. But this can happen if you try to recline a little back while driving and may go all the way back and you can't get it back up.
I have a 2000 chevy Blazer with 44,000 miles. Since the warranty expired in July I have had numerous problems that seem to be common among owns of this type of vehicle. Gm refuses to address these items since the car is just out of warranty. Some I consider to be safety issues. They are as follows: accelerator pedal sticks, seat recliner handle is broken, fuel gauge does not work properly and 4 wheel drive will not engage. For a vehicle that is just over 3. 5 years old this is unacceptable. I will probably not purchase another gm vehicle due to these problems and will probably purchase a european auto, their engineering and customer service are far superior to our us automakers.
Bucket seat recliner handles broke.
Passenger seat recliner lever broke twice - repaired by dealer first time at cost of $150. 00- will cost the same for second failure lever shaft sheared. How many of these failures does this agency need to initiate corrective action?.
Seat adjustment handle broke off driver's seat. This is a very expensive repair, and have found out that there a alot of these breaking. I think Chevrolet should make this into a recall so their customers do not have to pay for their mistakes. None is perfect, but at least they could make the effort to fix them, and not make the customer do so.
The passenger side seat will not lock into place, causing the seat to slide forward while the vehicle is in operation. The passenger seat lever also broke off while attempting to adjust the recline position of the seat back. Dealer is repairing both problems with a cost of over $600. 00.
Seat handles are broken again. Resulting a reclining driver seat. Seat handles broke under warranty and was replaced, so this is the second time on my Blazer, 2000 model. Gm needs to redesign these handles because someone could get into a accident.
Both driver side and passenger side seat back reclining bolt disconnected from the seat when trying to recline.
Seat reclining adjust handles on driver and passenger seats broke off. They were not heavely used.
I just purchased a certified used Blazer in July of 2003. It was in for its scheduled maintenance and while there the technician snapped off the driver's side seat adjustment handle, which my dealer later replaced. Not two weeks later the passenger side handle snapped off as well. My dealer will not replace the passenger side without charging me for parts and labor. I feel that this is a manufactured defect. I have researched this subject and have found many other unhappy consumers like myself regarding this issue.
Although there was no accident, I have had several problems with my Chevrolet Blazer. First, the gas guage has failed. It constantly lies on empty, and the low fuel light is always on. In order to measure my gas, I have to record my mileage. Also, the lever for seat recliner has broken off of the driver side, making it impossible for me to adjust my seating.

The right front seat reclining handle stud shears off. Very little useage, very little wear or tear. The left side broke 6 months ago. Chevrolet says that it's out of warranty, and that they won't take care of it.
Windshield wipier do not come on sometimes and at others will not turn off, also will go from itermittent to full speed without being selected. Front seat recliner handles both have broken off, left side twice.
My abs light goes on frequently. I have been in a couple of almost collisions. In slow moving traffic, the sensor goes on and freezes my brakes. My car has been to dealership and to repair centers and all companies say they there is nothing wrong. The solution each time was just to replace the sensor, however, even driving out of dealership the abs light went on. I have read in the past similar instances with abs problems, is there ever going to be a recall, or is it going to take a serious lawsuit/accident before the problem gets fixed? I also have experienced the right passenger seat handle breaking, and it is still broken.
Like so many others, passenger side recline lever has broken. Metal sheared off so whole rod will need to be replaced. Unit was not forced and snapped off. Think gm needs to recall this defective item and replace it free of charge.
The seat recliner on the drivers side broke. After fixing, the seat then squeaked and rattled. Dealership saaid I have a broken seat frame. Dealership won't pay for damanges. This is the second general motors vehicle that has a broken seat recliner. The first one was a 98 GMC jimmy. Same thing happened.
Front seat recliner handles broke.
Drivers side seat recliner handle (metal shaft) broke metal appears to be weak, seat was stuck in lowered position.
Driver seat reclining handle brock off.
