37 Steering problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 03/08/2025

Reduced steering warning, the temperature gague is stuck on c, radiator fan is running on high as soon as I start my car and the transmission is shifting hard at second and third gears.

38 Steering problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 02/10/2025

At around 55,000 miles my Blazer began to show error codes for “steering assist reduced” and “esc”. After 60,000 it began to intermittently populate the check engine light paired with the "steering assist reduced" message. Then, the engine fan would turn on high, auto-start when breaking would disable, and the steering would become more stiff. Finally, I was able to get a scan on the code and found out that it was my thermostat. After taking it to my local chevy dealer I was quoted $1100 to repair. When I called my local mechanic I was told they could fix it for cheaper, but they were unable to find an oem thermostat in stock which usually means there's a widespread issue with that part. Upon further research, I've found a plethora of complaints online where others with chevy vehicles are experiencing the same issue. This causes: -greater fuel consumption -risk for the engine to overheat -stiffened steering which could cause accidents.

39 Steering problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 02/01/2025

Nothing necessarily happened, but I've been getting the "steering assist reduced, drive with care" pop up, which assist I've been reading might mean a faulty thermostat. Sounds like a common issue and may e time for a recall? only 60k miles on my Blazer.

40 Steering problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 01/15/2025

This is dash warning that came on saying "action required, steering assist is reduced, drive with care" on 2021 chevy Blazer, 28. 800 miles. First happened 1/15/25 & each time car is started it is on now, plus the check engine light is on now. The fan of the motor runs for 5-10 minutes once car is shut off also. I have read of the power steering locking totally up on other Blazers that this has happened on, making this a very big danger and risky. I am not sure if it is power steering, electrical, or engine issue, but believe with so many reports out there and it causing a danger to people driving, gm/Chevrolet should put a recall on this and look at these before people are killed (if not already due to this). I am taking mine to chevy dealer to have it looked at, but many people may not have that option.

41 Steering problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 01/14/2025

While driving previous year 2024 the steering wheel became stiff and hard to turn. I was going around 60mph and the reduce steering drive with caution appear. Took it to the nearest autzone no codes. We removed battery for 30 min and the steering wheel worked. Again changed my battery and the steering wheel will not turn. Had to disconnect for a day and the steering wheel worked. Fast forward 2025 Jan 14th driving down highway 360 going 60mph my steering wheel message reappear. Called a dealer service they say they don't know. We had to tow it back to the house after work my obd reader did not have any codes. Is a dangerous issue that needs to be recalled. I could of cause and accident.

42 Steering problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 01/06/2025

Common issue, the steering assist is reduced and temp gauge is stuck on c. This either a thermostat or temp sensor issue.

43 Steering problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 01/02/2025

I have a 2021 chevy Blazer that has 31,0000 miles and my steering locked up. I was driving and barley got into a parking lot. Told by a certified dealer it is the power steering gear and possible the power steering module. No parts available and no eta. This does not make sense that the steering with such low miles has gone out. I have read on the gm forum that multiple people have had this issue. I could have been killed. Why has there not been a recall on this very expensive repair?.

44 Steering problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 12/02/2024

The Blazer is having a recurring p0128 code. We have informed the dealership. This has been going on for 2 years or so. I reset the code with a code reader and it stays off for a few months usually. Tried to have the dealership look at it one of the last times it happened but they wouldn't just look at it. . . They wanted to set up an appointment. We needed the car so I reset the code again. Now it is time to get it fixed. I know it needs a thermostat and temperature sensor. The cost to install it will be close to $1000. This should not be at my cost. This is a know issue with the 3. 6l engine and it affects the emissions of the vehicle along with many other parts of the engine. I am reaching out to see what can be done.

45 Steering problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 11/25/2024

P0128, ac not working, steering assist reduced, and temp gauge not working. Problem caused by faulty ect wiring. First the problem is the ect is a two wire (signal + and -) 26 gauge wire running through the ignition coil wire harness. Ignition coil signals are very high voltage and fairly fast frequency which causes a lot of emi which is easily picked up on a 2 wire voltage based wire set. The ect wiring should have been a twisted shielded pair if running next to coil wiring or they could have used a single wire resistance thermistor, but they should have just routed the signal a different way to begin with. This is a design issue and it should be a recall. . . Maybe a class action lawsuit is needed to force them to fix it correctly. The fsb (field service bulletin) fix blames loose connector terminals and it patches the computer software to not include ect wire failures in the steering, ac, and temp gauge inhibit logic (overtemp readings will still fail off these functions). Also the p0128 code can come back occasionally.

46 Steering problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 11/02/2024

My 2019 Blazer gave a steering assist warning on 2 Nov 2024. I was aware of a recall for other Blazers but for some reason my VIN was not among those recalled. I took it to the dealership on 6 Nov 2024. The dealership has determined that the issue is indeed the same issue with those other Blazers that have been recalled but refuses to include my car in the recall because the VIN number wasn't originally among that recall. I was told that the car needed anew temperature gage and that they would have to order it, however, the component was available outside of the dealership. I paid for the diagnostics and the part, being told that the light(s) would stay on, I would still be able to drive it and that I would receive a call when the part came in. It is my understanding that the steering assist reduced can affect the power steering and essentially revert back to manual power steering, potentially causing a loss of control while driving and increasing the risk of accidents. There were no warnings of the steering failure assist warning. It just appeared on Nov 2, 2024 at 1130am. About 1240pm I noticed that the temp gage was inop and the check engine light was now illuminated. I contend that because gm has already identified the thermostat issue serious enough to do a recall, then all Blazers with that recall issue, VIN number aside, should be given the same consideration and not have to pay for something that gm has already taken responsibility for. The dealership however does not agree for the simple fact that the VIN was not identified in the original recall.

50 Steering problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 08/01/2024

I keep getting this message that pops up, "steering assist reduced drive with care". At the same time this happens the temp gauge stays on cold, the ac quits working, the engine fan is on high, and most of the time I get code po128. We have had it in to the dealer and they said the its the thermostat or the temp sensor. From what I am reading it could be a factory issue with the emi issue from sensitive ect circuitry. This has been an ongoing issue for us for over a year.

52 Steering problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 05/10/2024

Vehicle keeps throwing “steering assistance reduced please drive with care” message. It causes my car fan to constantly run. It also causes the coolant gauge to not work the needle drops below that cool like it’s not on and then the car won’t blow cold air from the vents. This message tells me that something could be wrong with the steering which puts my safety at risk. This issue has been happening to me on and off for months now and there are multiple complaints of multiple chevy owners having the same problem this issue needs to be addressed.

56 Steering problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 03/03/2024

Received repeated message on display " steering assist reduced, drive with care" engine races at times and auto stop quicks working. Could lead to a crash if steering is restricted due to p0128 code was repeatedly triggered as a fault code. Turned out to be thermostat which is being replaced on thousands of these vehicles. You can search for the message. Gm is replacing under powertrain warranty however many vehicles are beyond warranty. This is approximately a $1000 repair.

57 Steering problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 02/07/2024

As I was driving, my engine coolant temperature gauge went from normal level down all the way pegged to c. Message appears on my dashboard "steering assist is reduced. Drive with care". Also, radiator fan continuously runs as if the air conditioner was turned on, which it was not. After searching the internet and confirmed by dealerships and the shop I had my car repaired, this same issue with the coolant temp sensor and thermostat is a very common occurrence on these generation chevy Blazers. It just amazes me and disappoints me that this type of failure on a car happens as soon as 70,000 miles. Should last for much much longer before this type of failure happens.

58 Steering problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 01/29/2024

The failing component is the esc/power steering. It is available for inspection. It is currently at bayway Chevrolet in pearland, texas. My safety and the safety of others is at risk when the power steering fails not allowing me to turn out of the way from road hazards or even make legal turns. This could result in an auto accident causing bodily injury or death to me or other drivers. Yes, a service shop in alvin was able to see/reproduce the errors. No, however the vehicle is currently in the shop being looked at by service techs. There were no warning lights, messages, or other indications prior to Monday, 1/29/24 around 2pm est, when this happened. The vehicle was driven home from work that evening. The vehicle was not driven all day Tuesday, 1/30/24. Today, Wednesday, I drove the vehicle to the service shop in alvin, texas to replace the battery. Around 10:45am est, the errors/messages came on. I drove back to the battery shop in alvin and they ran the codes. This is where they were able to feel the steering tighten up. I drove the vehicle to bayway Chevrolet for repairs. Once I receive an estimate or repair invoice, I would be happy to send that over.

60 Steering problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 12/01/2023

My vehicle was diagnosed with a faulty thermostat, specifically that the thermostat was sticking and needs replaced. My vehicle is at approximately 59,150 miles as of 12/27/2023. Prior to the diagnosis of the faulty thermostat, I intermittently received a warning message "steering assist reduced - drive with caution", the thermostatic fan would run at full speed, and the p0128 check engine code was illuminated. These symptoms began approximately at the beginning of December 2023. The problem was confirmed by a certified gm dealership service department.

61 Steering problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 09/15/2023

Here are the problems I've been facing: 1. Shift to park error: my Blazer often displays a "shift to park" message, even when the vehicle is already in the park position. This happens randomly and has no discernible pattern. As a result, the vehicle won't turn off, and I'm forced to repeatedly shift back and forth and apply excessive force to engage the park mode. 2. Steering assist reduced message and cold temperature gauge: another recurring issue is the appearance of a "steering assist reduced" message. At the same time, the temperature gauge gets stuck at the cold position, and the check engine light remains on. This seems to be a common problem among Blazer owners and requires immediate attention through a recall. 3. Fuel-related acceleration problem: I've noticed a fuel-related problem that affects acceleration. The vehicle experiences sudden slowdowns, with the rpms dropping, even when I maintain a steady throttle position. Then, out of nowhere, the Blazer regains speed and accelerates. This unpredictable behavior is dangerous and needs to be addressed immediately. 4. Random loss of power steering and power brakes: on several occasions, my Blazer has lost power steering and power brakes without any warning. It's incredibly unnerving and puts both the driver and others on the road at risk. It's important to note that my Blazer is well-maintained and has less than 60,000 miles on it. These issues should not be happening under these circumstances. I strongly believe that these problems require the attention of the manufacturer, and I urge them to initiate recalls to rectify these safety concerns.

62 Steering problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 08/11/2023

The contact owned a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated while driving 69-70 mph, the steering wheel strongly pulled to the left side and into the roadway median. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle hit the median and bounced, facing incoming traffic. The contact slammed on the brakes and shifted into park (p). The air bags deployed. The contact was able to exit the vehicle with the assistance of bystanders. Emergency services arrived at the scene but the contact was not transported to the hospital at the time. The contact later received medical assistance and was informed she had sustained soreness on the neck, shoulders and bruises all over the body. Additionally, the contact was advised she had sustained post traumatic stress disorder (ptsd). A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where it was totaled. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

63 Steering problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Blazer

64 Steering problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 03/18/2023

My 2020 chevy Blazer began demonstrating possible problems with the transmission in November 2021 which have continued to date. The rpms will rapidly increase and the car will feel as if it is jolting forward. If driving below 20 mphs, when I try to accelerate to a higher speed, the car will drag and then skip forward. I have videos showing this and have taken it to the dealership on two occasions but it couldn't be replicated and no codes show during diagnositics. The car is currently being repaired (at the dealership since 3/18/22) due to 3 separate concerns that are CO-occuring which seems quite strange to me. The thermostat has gone bad, causing my check engine light to come on while driving (and having to have it towed). The car is also not recognize my remote key to operate the car. I am also getting "steering assist reduced" notifications while driving. I had the battery replaced 3 weeks ago because that was felt to be the cause of the steering assist notice, but after 1 week the notices started occurring again. I will also occasionally get "ecm" notices while driving. I don't see how all of this could be happening at the same time and it not be indicative of a more major powertrain issue. I do not feel safe driving the car, even when these separate issues are repaired because I am fearful of the core, underlying cause.

65 Steering problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 01/10/2023

Value stem gasket covers need replacing oil spilling out everywhere it’s a 2020 should not be happening oil leak hot and cold temperature not working properly a warning flashing for the power steering being deceased and not use that car get moved every hour just about always in jt working or just taking a break the auto shut of makes transmission slip or sounds like it is.

66 Steering problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 10/16/2022

Initially received stabilitrak dash warning when brakes were applied for longer than 30 seconds (ie. , stop light) for several days with no sel. Then, while driving along a secondary highway at approximately 60mph, all dash lights lit up, power steering failed, power brake assist failed, and vehicle started stumbling. Pulled to side of road and vehicle shut off. Performed restart and was able to complete drive home (approx 3 miles). Upon arrival and shutting off vehicle, all dash lights illuminated then shut off. Vehicle would not start after (no click, no turnover, indicating failed battery). Attempted to charge/maintain battery but battery charger indicated sulfated battery. Multimeter showd 7. 5v. Replaced battery and car started normally but all computer functions were reset to factory defaults. The failure of the power steering and brakes due to a faulty battery is an extreme safety issue. The fact that the battery is only 3 years old and internally corroded to the point it can't be charged is both disappointing and an additional safety hazard.

67 Steering problem of the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 03/22/2022

We were sold a new vehicle with known computer problems. The dealership knew of the defects but sold it to us anyway. They consider it a warranty issue. Chevrolet doesn’t seem to care.

68 Steering problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 11/17/2021

I looked online and a lot of chevy products are having this issue. Something will pop up saying limited driving assistance then your cold hot gauge doesn’t work is get stuck your air conditioning quits working your oil gauge quit working your battery how much voltage you have quits working it falls your whole window up where you can’t see. This is an ongoing issue with most of GMC vehicles, especially Blazers. This is a safety issue that could cause your car to blow up or your windows. The fog over where you can’t see and you have a wreck and I could kill you.

69 Steering problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 10/14/2021

On mutiple occasions I have lost power steering and power brakes. The brake and traction control lights will illuminate on the dash, but the physical buttons do not and are unresponsive.

70 Steering problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 08/31/2021

1. The power steering (confirmed by dealership) is causing vehicle to pull very hard in one direction 2. Something fuel related does not allow my car to accelerate properly. Foot will be on the throttle and accelerating and without moving the throttle the vehicle will slow, rpms will drop then suddenly begins to accelerate again. 3. Car states it’s not in park after I shift into park.
