36 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 03/02/2015

We received a 2015 chevy Camaro convertible as a rental car. This car was fresh off the delivery truck with only 6 miles on the odometer. Between the airport and our final destination that evening, we racked up approximately 55 miles. In that time, the car (engine) stalled/lost power/cut out 3 times as of writing this complaint. There was no loss of brakes or steering. The car was provided with a traditional key and not the gm switchblade, and the driver was not sitting close enough to bump the key into the off position. This is obviously not normal, and I am not the only one that has experienced this problem. Whoever is at fault, gm or the rental company for improper inspection before putting the car in the rental fleet, needs to resolve this issue as it is dangerous and potentially deadly.

38 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 06/25/2014

This vehicle was purchased brand new January 2014 with less than 10 miles on it. Upon taking the vehicle in three or more times for a fuel system issue, I experienced a rapidly flashing engine light two times. I called the service department. They said do not drive the vehicle anywhere other than to the dealership because the engine may blow. I took the car to the dealership on 5/29. The dealership "replaced" all parts on the vehicle including the fuel line, fuel injectors, pistons, all fuel injectors and this did not help. They then attempted to even out the compression in the cylinders to fix the issue of the compression leaking. This did not work. The vehicle was still having compression issues. They finally requested a replacement engine from gm. The engine was installed and I was called to pick up my vehicle after 29 days at the dealership. I requested a buy back, as from what they have told me regarding the car having a defect and this is a huge safety concern for me. The dealer and gm west coast liaison denied buy back due to the warranty still being in effect. This car is not safe and should be bought back by the dealer. We are pursuing with the bbb and a lawyer. The dealership has not cooperated and will not assist any further. The main concern is lack of knowledge as to what was wrong with the vehicle and that being it had 5000-6000 miles, how do we know it will be safe and will not have issues in the future.

39 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 06/22/2014

I have been experiencing stalling and vehicle shut off on my 2013 chevy Camaro I have taken it to the dealer 3 times now and they are unable to find the problem. It seems to happen during extreme heat temperatures during the summer months particularly. I have noticed that Nissan is having similar problems with their Nissan versa's and Nissan sentras as it was aired on channel 13 action news. I have reached out to gm twice about this problem with no help although they are aware that many people are having the same problem with their vehicles. I need to start a class action suit. Can you help me?.

41 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

I have taken this vehicle in several times for loss of power while driving on the freeway. In addition to the vehicle losing power, reduced speed vehicle dropped from 60 mph to 25mph. The first time the dealership stated the vehicles computer had 5 error messages & just needed to be reset. The second time occurred a couple of months later. I addressed the manufacturer & dealership manager. . . They said nothing could be done. They reset the computer again, after the 3rd incident almost caused me to have an accident the dealership provided me a rental & thoroughly inspected the vehicle to diagnose the issues. The vehicle was also making a grinding noise between 20-30mph between 2nd & 3rd gear. The vehicle has only been serviced by an authorized gm dealership since I purchased it. This time the service manager said the catalytic converter was the main culprit, however the vehicle was almost entirely void of oil. . . . This was in between the manufacturer recommended oil change interval- apprx had driven in 4700 miles the grinding noise was said to be due to lack of oil but no oil leak was detected. I researched this issue in several auto forums & discovered that the high output 3. 6 liter v6 engines had a known problem for burning oil & causing the engine to wear & breakdown prematurely. Dealer advised me that I would need to take the vehicle in every 1000 miles to check how quickly the oil was burning in between oil changes. They confirmed that if indeed it was burning oil they would replace the engine under warranty. I believe this to be very dangerous, loss of power at highway speeds multiple times is very alarming & was not taken seriously by gm customer support - dealership service advisor was more helpful than the manager.

42 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 02/25/2013

2013 Camaro LS fuel injectors pose a chance at being defective, after buying the car and noticing two of the injectors having already been replaced, I am now less then a month of owning the car. The car is currently having its fourth fuel injector replaced, this may cause harm to the vehicle if it does not do what it is designed to do. The car is suppose to put its self in "limp" mode reducing power and the chance of harming the engine, it will also display a service stabilitrak message. Service departments are required to only replace the bad injectors however if you contact corporate gm they will work with you to replace the remaining injectors if the problem consists as did mine. There are no preemptive signs of the injectors going bad. Overall satisfied with the service provided.

43 Other Fuel System problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 02/06/2013

Engine stalls when coming to a stop. In addition, the battery volt gauge drops below 13. This doesn't happen every time I come to a red light, but it happens frequently enough. Also, after filling the vehicle with gas, the engine stalls almost immediately after it is started. (only when in drive).

44 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 01/18/2013

I was going for a drive in my neighborhood. I was driving down a hill when the accelerator stuck. At the bottom of the hill was a bump in the road. After hitting the bump the engine turned off. I had no brakes and no steering. I then skid off the road into a tree. There was one injury, a lady in the back seat passenger side hit her head on the back of the front seat passenger. She had a huge goose egg on top of her head and a black eye.

45 Other Fuel System problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 08/27/2004

Driving along highway and suddenly my car begins to accelerate without pressing on gas pedal. Acceleration is stuck, I can't stop the car other than by riding the brakes or turning engine off. I reach speeds up to 90 miles an hour. When I cut the engine off, it causes loss of power, but luckily not steering. Turn engine back on and engine redlines (clutch let out). I pop clutch back in and car begins to accelerate again. Turn hazards on, cop then pulls up behind me telling me to pull over. Fear and anxiety compounded, but car still will not work. I cut the engine and highway patrol guides me over to the right shoulder. Cop is forced to push my car since it cannot continue on its own. Car towed in and dealer said a rock was wedged on the throttle return spring causing throttle to be wide open. Rock was removed and dealer says car is functioning. The safety issue is with how the rock ever got there. That should not be happening, even at 1 in a million chance. I know my life and the life of my passenger were in danger. Cop could probably attest to that as well.
