1 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier

Failure Date: 02/02/2010

I own a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier and bought it from a dealer in 2008. Since then all of the gauges are now inoperable. This is a great inconvenience, as well as a safety issue. Not knowing how fast you are going, how much gas you have, or what the temperature is can become a huge issue, not to mention costly. Now, I know this is not the first complaint on these issues and I feel that something should be done about them. If all of these complaints are out, there must be a problem with these cars from the factory. I hope this matter is being investigated and not just put to the side to claim that it must be something that the drivers are causing. Please let us know what the intentions are of gm or whomever is responsible. We paid for these vehicles, which are fairly good ones, can someone please make the decision to take care of this problem. 2 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier

Failure Date: 01/08/2010

I took my foot off the gas pedal to begin to slow as I approached a red light. The vehicle did not slow down but instead continued to accelerate, as the gas pedal was stuck down. I was surprised and pushed down on the brake pedal, and the car was able to stop. Once the light turned green and I took my foot off the brake, the car immediately began accelerating quickly without touching the gas pedal, which was still stuck down. I pushed the gas pedal repeatedly with my foot until it became unstuck, and immediately drove to a nearby auto repair facility. The technician looked at the car and discovered that the gas pedal had stuck on the driver's floor mat, which appeared warped near the pedal area. Due to the indentation in the mat, it appeared that the pedal had been rubbing on the mat for some time before becoming totally stuck. There were no injuries, and I immediately removed the mat and have not had any problems since then. The floor mat is the original manufacturer mat supplied with the car.
