2 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier

Failure Date: 02/07/2015

Please call about these problems with these cars, 888-327-4236 is how I think anything will get done, just called today 02-20-15. Gas gauge went out 02-07-15 ( millage 40000) and is hitting against my temp gauge so I don't know how hit my car is getting. I replaced my temp gauge back in 01-07-12 millage(29111) cause it was hitting against my speedometer<--- this was not replaced but I dont think till this day it shows the right speed. Air bags did not work back in 2006 crash no fault of the car then, someone hit me, so dont even know if they will. Called gm about that in 2012 and told me there was nothing that could be done. Forgot to tell kimmy about this problem today. Good luck getting these problems fixed. I have to drive my kids and family around only car I have so I hope something is fixed before we get hurt. And I hope for the ones that fixed these repairs get there money back if they find it to be a issue. .

3 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier

Failure Date: 09/28/2013

The temperature gauge needle has gone so far to the right (and not registering correct temperature) that it interferes with the needle on the speedometer gauge therefore, the speedometer needle can only register up to 15 mph when you are actually going at least 45 to 55 mph. I have read the other complaints on your site and I would like to know how many you have to receive regarding this same problem before a recall will be issued? is everyone at NHTSA and Chevrolet/gm just waiting in hopes that soon all of these cars will be off the road therefore, they will no longer be an issue? I I truly believe this to be a safety issue, not knowing how fast or slow you are travelling and/or whether your car is burning up or not. This issue really needs to be addressed as soon as possible as I don't see these cars going away anytime soon, people are just continuing to drive them as they are, with the gauge problems. How many people will have to be injured or die in an accident because of this problem that everyone chooses to ignore before something will be done about it?? they cost too much to repair and it usually does not fix the problem. We own two of these cars, the other one is a 2004 and in addition to the speedometer not working properly the gas gauge is not working either!.

4 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier

Failure Date: 02/08/2013

My 2005 chevy Cavalier speedometer (not digital) and rpm gauge doesn't work at all from time to time. It either shows I'm doing 0 m. P. H. Or it goes past 110 m. P. H and stays there even when the car is shut off. It hasn't shown the correct speed in which I'm travelling at anytime in the past 6 months or so. I've had to download a speedometer gauge app on my Smart phone to get an idea of how fast I am going and even that is untrustworthy. I've looked online for similar complaints and apparently there are multiple sources for the years between 2003 and 2006 experiencing the exact same problem. I've called multiple Chevrolet dealerships about this problem and was told that it's a known problem and Chevrolet most likely will never recall this defective equipment and was quoted a price that ranges from $700 to $1200 because the whole instrument cluster would need to be replaced. I for one do not think the consumer should bear the brunt of this cost as it is the manufacturer's (Chevrolet in this case) problem who is responsible for installing faulty equipment from the assembly line. From all the online posts and others complaints about this problem I've seen that date back to 2007, I cannot imagine why this problem hasn't been addressed at all. If this isn't considered a safety issue as no one can really know for sure how fast they are going, I don't know what is.

5 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier

Failure Date: 03/06/2012

The speed odometer was the first gauge to not work. It is now stuck at 45mph at all times. Now my gas gauge does not work. It even interferes with the temperature gauage. Now the rpm gauge is starting not to work. Some days it works fine and other days it sits at 5 thousand. The temperature gauge is the only gauge that works.

Gas gauge went haywire which interfered with the temperature gauge, which interfered with the speedometer. I have seen over 1,000 complaints of the same nature. Gm needs to recall and fix this problem. 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier.

7 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier

Failure Date: 06/15/2008

Speedometer sticking at 80 to 160 mph, even though the car has never ever been driven at those speeds, speedometer registars anwhere from 10mph to over the limit of the speedometer (180mph) when the car is shut off or stopped. This started at 25,000 miles on the odometer. The temperature gauge started registering over the red (and has actually touched the speedometer gauge needle) approximately 1 year later started at 32,000 miles. At 39,000 the gas gauge started doing the same thing. I have been driving with a portable garmin nuvi gps since 2008, just to use the estimated speed in the hopes I will not get a speeding ticket. The first time I looked down and saw my speedometer at 85 mph, I instinctively slammed on the brakes, and was extremely lucky no one was behind me. I was only going 50 mph at the time this happened. I now have a teen driver, and I cannot allow her to drive this car because she is not experienced enough to estimate her speeds. I will never know if my car trulely overheats because it overheats on the gauge 3-5 times a week. I have to fill my gas based on when I filled it last & how many miles I have driven since as I have no idea how much gas I have. This can be a very dangerous situation, that can lead to death and injury, as a told you my experience with instinctively slamming on the brakes, and I would hate to see what happens if I run out of gas unknowingly in the 3rd lane of an expressway. I also own a 2002 chevy Cavalier whose gas gauge registars 1/4 of a tank when it is empty. I spend over $450 at a garage to find out that the car was not breaking down, but was actually running out of gas. The 2003 chevy Cavalier of course has the more dangerous problem with the entire instrument cluster a mess. Unfortunately, the vecicle was not still under warranty with the low mileage, as it had been over 3 years. When are you going to do something about these cars? lets hope I'm not driving in front of your mother or daughter tomorrow.

8 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier

Failure Date: 05/24/2006

My 2004 chevy Cavalier has a problem with the instrument cluster. In 2006 I was driving doing 20 mph in a school zone and noticed my speedometer read 110, the gas gauge showed empty and the temperature gauge had moved all the way around and was sitting on the speedometer needle. I contacted gm about the problem and was informed that a recall was issued on trucks and SUV's but did not include automobiles. I was told to take my car to a dealership and pay $100. 00 to have it inspected by a mechanic and if the mechanic determined it was the cluster, the information would be sent to gm and they would then make a decision on whether they would make the repair or not. My daughter owns a 2004 monte carlo with the same problem and her daughter has the problem with her 2005 Cavalier. There are many others with this problem and gm just refuses to address the problem. I think car owners should get the same respect as truck owners and gm should repair these clusters. I have contacted gm many times and they don't do anything .

9 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier

Failure Date: 05/15/2005

Gas gauge on the instrument panel does not work, it registars higher than the amount of gas in the car. I spent over $450 dollars at the garage trying to troubleshoot why the car stopped running while driving and wouldn't restart. The garage could not find the problem. I discovered myself after the 3rd time, that putting gas in it fixes it, and realized the gas gauge was not registering empty, when the cat was empty, and I was simply running out of gas.
