I have a fuel leak by the left rear tire possibly a corroded fuel line. I smelled gas for two days. The leak was by the exhaust. My children and I could of been killed.
While driving through an intersection car shut off. This loss of power while driving has happened several times over the last few months. I called chevy dealership today and was notified ignition switch was already repaired previously and that I may be charged a diagnostic fee if I bring the car in for repair.
Fuel leak under the driver side, just in front of the rear wheel. Leak is near exhaust, heat shielding from factory caused fuel line to rust and leak.
My 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt has developed a gasoline leak from a point roughly a foot in front of the vehicles left/driver side rear tire. The leak takes the form of gas dripping from the above mentioned point while the car's engine is on. The drip continues for several mins after the engine is turned off but then stops.
Fuel line leak by the left rear wheel at body mount. Similar to what is described in the recent release regarding the 2008-2010 Cobalt fuel leak issue. The investigation should be expanded to 2005 as well.
I got the car a few years ago only drove it for 5 months found out about the recall. I had to pay for the car to go nassau bahamas. They never ship it for me . They paid the ignition repairs never gave me a rental car. Then I called back a few months about a warranty say 60,000 miles or 5 year they tell another recall for the same thing. So I started checking come to find all kinda law suit on that type model. They want the car off the road. I asked them to pay out the car. Can't get a response. They open but the bahamas office closed from covid-19. Still have to wait on a response.
Tl the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt. While driving at any speed, the power steering seized. The contact had to use excessive strength to turn the vehicle. The vehicle also lost fuel. The failures occurred without warning. The vehicle also hesitated and jerked violently, and "faulty power steering" and "loss of fuel" appeared on the instrument panel. In addition, the service engine indicator illuminated and the transmission made an abnormal shifting noise. The contact called anderson Chevrolet (31201 auto center dr, lake elsinore, CA 92530, (951) 226-0822) and was informed that the transmission recall was serviced in 2009; therefore, the contact would have to pay for the repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.
Car has a gas leak and a recall is in place in certain states for 2006 and 2007 but not 2005 and not in all states. My 2005 has a gas leak and uses the same parts as the 2006 so the 2005 needs recalled too in all states.
The fuel line rust out and leaks gas. This is a very dangerous situation but apparently not covered by recall 12v459000. This gas leak should defiantly included in that recall. My car is driven by a teenager and he did not notice the leak until I saw it. The repairs were over $800. 00. This happened to both of our chevy Cobalts in the same week.
Fuel odor and spotting of fuel when the vehicle is parked.
While driving the car began to smell like gas. I got our and looked and the car was leaking gas profusely. Come to find out the gas line had rusted completely out.
Lines leaking rusted with holes. . . . Should have been coated and not exposed to weather.
Our vehicle is leaking gasoline and is exhibiting the same symptoms as those addressed in this recall NHTSA campaign #09v419000 but Chevrolet says that it doesn't cover the 2005 model and we believe it should since it is the same problem.
Vehicle leaking fuel from fuel line at clamp, underneath driver side in front of back tire. Worse upon start and stopping.
Leaking fuel on driver side under back seat. This is happening while driving and when the car is in park.

My car turns off in the middle of driving. Three times I have been on 45 mph roads, and have 2 small kids. This isn't the only major issue my car. But first the digital display reads engine disabled or engine losing power then engine disabled and loses all function. There was a recall over a year ago for this model shutting off while driving supposedly due to weight on the key ring. After the dealer fixed it the issue stopped until 3 mnths ago. I can only go a block before the engine disables now, it progressively happened sooner and sooner. A friend who is old buddies with a diagnostics specialist introduced me and he was able to tell me exactly what was going on to fine details. I called the dealership to see about any recalls and relayed the info he'd given me and they down played it like they guy didn't know what he was talking about. The dealer thinks its a throttle or engine problem. The guy I know said the computer chip in the key likely got messed up possibly from having my cell phone next to it a lot, that the part in the ignition that reads the signal from the key is getting mixed info and signals the engine to shut down . He also said that once it happens, a loop is created to where every time I turn they key it starts the cycle over where everything is okay in the beginning but the info gets misread over n over which is why he said I should get a new key- and (I think this is what he said) to replace to whole ignition column so all parts involved would be new. He also gets his parts wholesale and is not trying to rip me off. Next problem car burns oil! the last two times I had oil checked, nothing on the dipstick, I get it done every 3000miles. Walmart made me sign a paper stating there was no oil on dipstick. Gas line corroded, smell of gas throughout car, has whole piece replaced. These are serious why is Chevrolet doing nothing bad business.

The vehicle will periodically jerk/hiccup at random while driving. On January 8, 2015 while traveling on the expressway, the vehicle began to randomly sputter/jerk/hiccup. The vehicle did not loose power, or was there any indication from dash board icons of any malfunction. There was not any visble warnings signs to alert a faulty system. This has occurred previously, while traveling throughout the city at speeds of 25-45 mph. During the most recent incident, traveling speeds varied from 50-70 mph on the expressway. This particular instance I was driving a 60 mile trip and this jerking occured 7-10 times. The first time this occured was probably 1. 5 years ago. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic after the first instance, without anything being detected or a diagnosis. The issue is progressively worsening. It is beginning to happen more frequently. Last week, of the 4 days of travel on the expressway, the jerking occured 3 of those days. Initially, I felt, this was associated to the cold and weather/termperature, but this has also occured in warmer months. This is a definate safety issue, as it relates to myself, and others traveling in my vacinity.

I am the owner of a 2005 chevy Cobalt LS. My major problem (there of course are other small ones) with this car is that it dies? it just shuts down. The vehicle has died/shut down when stopped at red lights, while making a turn, while in stop and go traffic on the freeway, well basically it does it all the time while driving it. When the vehicle dies/shuts down, it gives no warning, it just does it. The ac/heater, radio, and lights will stay on, however the car shuts down. I either have to put it on park or on neutral and start it up again. This problem is re-occurring. I have taken it in to several mechanics and they can?t find a problem. There is no warning/engine light on nothing! I am very stressed over this issue that has gone far too long. I drive my car to and from work praying that it won?t shut down on me while on the freeway, which it has happen several times now. I feel that everytime it shuts down on me I?m going to have a panic attack and not be able to act fast enough to turn it back on. This is extremely dangerous and I am very grateful that I haven?t been hurt because of this car. I have found soo many people online with the same problem and I am appalled that this issue has not been recalled yet. This system is very disappointing. So much for trying to support our country by purchasing american cars?.
The car has been in the shop so many times for the same thing. When you drive at times, the car sputters and dies out and runs rough. It overheats and then the mechanic cant find the problem or anything wrong but I have to pay to have it looked at. My cousin bought a 2009 Cobalt and her car has the same problems of dying out. The car is always in the shop because everything breaks down. I still owe on the car and its a money pit. A mechanic said my frame is bent. I haven't been in an accident. I am stuck with a lemon and its squeezing me.
I purchase my vehicle brand new in 2005 and had continual problems with the car shutting off while driving ever since. I had this car at the dealer for annual maintenance as well as for the car shutting off while driving. I had the cart in the shop monthly for them to evaluate until they said there was absolutely nothing they could do they cant find anything wrong. Went to another dealership and still no satisfaction I even called gm to complain several times and I cried that I was going to get killed and they said there was nothing they could do. Now 13 + people are dead. I have my car at the dealer and it was a fiasco. They gave me back my car with a check engine light on and said I should pay for diagnostics. Really?? they had my car I did not give it to them that way. I called gm and they told me to pay for diagnostic my car is to old so they wont make them do anything. Nice real nice - I guess I am lucky to still be alive today - I wish I could sue them but I work hard and don't have that kind of money to spend. Again they are lucky they have no penalty. They don't care and they will only do what they are forced to do not what is the right thing to do. They should not have been bailed out they should never have that privilege again. In this world only the strong survive and the weak fail. Let them fail.
