The contact stated that the there were intermittent electrical shorts and the temperature controls did not work properly nor the function of the electrical windows. The contact was not able to use the controls for the a/c nor heating when the short randomly occored. The contact entered the vehicle and was not able to start the vehicle on several attempts. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump and sending unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 12v459000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 96,800. Dyd.

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. She employed the assistance of an associate, who was an independent mechanic, and diagnosed the failure to be the fuel pump. He also discovered that the top of the fuel pump had been burned off and caused wires to be exposed, effectively creating a ticking time bomb. The fuel pump was removed and taken to a dealer, who confirmed that there was a defect. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 72,000.

The contact stated received notification of NHTSA campaign id number: 14v047000 (electrical system:ignition:switch) but was not able to have the vehicle serviced because the parts needed would not become available until April 21, 2014. The manufacturer could not provide an exact date for when the contact could schedule an appointment to receive the recall service. Additionally, there was a fuel leak and a strong odor of gasoline in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who confirmed that the fuel pump was spewing fuel over the top of the engine. The dealer advised the contact that the seal, fuel tank and the fuel pump would need replacing. The vehicle was not repaired. I'm emailing you in regards to problems I had with my car. . All this was repaired and I called back and forth to the manufacture and was treated like I was stupid. . It was a bad time in my life and the car situation didn't help. . Now I'm reading this on line, because my fuel line is leaking. . Seen this recall, but was told there wasn't a recall on it and that time. . My car was at dealerships on and off for over a month. . Then I had to pay. . . . I listed the VIN#. Above and this was the case # 71-1160509209. . Gm will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump module, free of charge. Notification to owners began on on November 21, 2012. Owners were instructed to not bring their vehicles in for repair until January 2013. Additional info:gm's campaign number is 12190. This recall is an expansion of recall.

The fuel pump plastic part broke causing fuel leakage which then caused the port and module to melt and burn. This caused the car to stop running altogether. Called dealership and was told no recall exists for this manufacturers defect , I called gm an they said its VIN specific and I do not qualify although it's the same model year and defect.

The outlet port on the fuel pump cracked and starting leaking gas. There is a recall for this exact problem for my car but it does not include my state of illinios just the warmer states. But we had an extremely hot summer this year. Called gm and they stated my VIN was not under the recall. I have read numerous comments where this same problem has happened to other people in states that we not under the recall.

Noticed a fuel smell in the car for about 3 days. Disconnected the fuel tank and noticed fuel leaking from the fuel pump. Upon further inspection it was the plastic sending line on top of the fuel pump that had developed a crack, resulting in fuel leak. Replaced the fuel pump, now no fuel leak or fuel smells.
