Brake Squeaking Noise Problems of Chevrolet Cobalt

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 mph, the contact attempted to decelerate and a loud squeaky noise emitted outside of the vehicle. The failure occurred whenever coming to a stop. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the front brake pads were replaced. The technician stated that the ceramic brakes performed as designed. The failure recurred two weeks after the repair was performed. The vehicle had not been repaired for the most recent defect. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 33,000.

The Cobalt brakes have always made a screeching sound, which gm has addressed as being normal. This is not a normal occurrence, since the front brakes should have worn out before the rear ones. There is also the chance that the system could fail completely causing a serious accident. Finally, the screeching sound is getting worse. This sound, along with the brake wear, will virtually reduce the value of the car considerably, making it nearly impossible to trade or sell, unless gm corrects this issue.
