4 Front Air Bag problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 02/20/2010

I was driving my 2009 chevy Cobalt within the posted speed limit when the power steering failed resulting in a fairly horrific crash, with the car coming to rest on the drivers side against some trees. I suffered a head injury and thank god my son was not hurt although we have both been suffering from headaches since the accident. Were it not for the small trees lining the road the car would have continued to roll possibly killing us both since none of the airbags deployed. The car was totaled and I do not have access to the VIN#.

5 Front Air Bag problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 10/28/2009

Within a month of purchasing a new 2007 chevy Cobalt - I began hearing rattling noises from my vehicle. I have had the car in for repairs numerous times. Multiple components have been replaced and or repaired. I currently have 15,000 miles on the vehicle - to this day I can still hear rattling noises and clunking noise coming from the steering-suspension. The mechanics have now told me they don't know what's wrong and suggested I try a different dealership. I have contacted chevy and received no help in settling this issue. If chevy would of had their return policy when I purchased - I would of gladly returned the vehicle - I make car payments on a lemon. I don't even like my daughter to ride in the vehicle for fear of her safety. I fear I will be driving down the road the front end will fall apart. It scares me to death.

6 Front Air Bag problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 10/08/2009

My car would chime for me to look at instrument panel to see that the "airbags needed to be serviced". It would give me this message every 15 mins. For the hour drive I was on the road. The next day I called the dealer & set up an appointment. That afternoon when they were done with my car I was told that the mechanic had already seen this a few times & knew exactly what it was. My print out from service reads "diagnostic code #b0012 stored in system test circuit, module shorting out under steering wheel , replaced sir coil & repair circuit. * my car is a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt lt (just purchased 06/05/09) with 2600 miles.

7 Front Air Bag problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 09/10/2008

My wife has an defribulator pacemaker. We need the air bag disengaged. We have been haggling with the dealer for almost 2 weeks. They are dragging their feet on this matter. The heart hospital says if the air bag came out and hit my wife, it could kill her. This is the third new vehicle I have bought from dobrinski's in okeene. I need something done. I do not have to buy chevy's. I might have to change dealers. Thank you, rusty ferrell.

8 Front Air Bag problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 06/22/2008

My son was in a motor vehicle accident. It was a single car accident in which he lost control of the car, went off the road, hit a tree stump and then the car was spun sides, rolled onto it's side and into a tree. None of his airbags deployed. He was killed in the car accident while 3 other kids walked away. He was the driver and the car was hit on the drivers side.

Failure Date: 02/13/2008

10 Front Air Bag problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 09/25/2007

On the date listed, my wife was driving at app. 40mph. At which point she ran into the rear of another vehicle that was stopped. Upon impact the seat belt failed to keep her in the driver seat. There was also no airbag deployment. Upon impact she flew upwards and forward, hitting her face on the visor. She went to the hospital where they did scans and found no bleeding on the brain, however she was injured in the face to which she still has a bump on the bridge of her nose and still gets headaches. Also, shortly after the accident she had two black eyes and a concussion. The vehicle was repaired, but there was no indication that anything was done with the airbag system or the seat belt, by the auto body shop. We contacted gm a day or two after the accident. They sent an engineer out to gather readings from the car a few weeks later. It wasn't until this week that we heard something back from gm. They said there was nothing for them to do and they left it at that. We are still driving the same car and are very weary of what could happen if we are involved in another accident. I think there needs to be a recall done and the manufacture held liable for the equipment failure.

Failure Date: 11/02/2006

(1) car shuts itself off while I was driving down the freeway. During@ rush hour I veered away ( w-no power to car ),from traffic behind me. Parked ,shut car off, took key out of ignition, then replaced and started it back up, and proceeded enroute. (2) after market cruise control failure to shut off and turn on. (3) result of above (2)after market cruise control takes its own mind and decides to fully accelerate until gearing down in hopes it 'awakes' the computer (automatic transmission),then cruise control will finally shut off. (consequence ) passenger had a heart attack. I called a taxi. "he's ok" (4) service air bags light have been on since 20,k miles I now have 47,xxx miles. (5)stock tires and rims wobble with irritating continous noises -can't ge rid of it. (6) stock seats driver and passenger sides both were installed incorrectlythey are really slantedlike this ( / \ ). (7) a clunking bucket sounding noise fills very slowly, (health problems) an odor is always present leaving me light headed ,nautious while driving, dizzy exiting car,and with breathing problems -like shortness of breath. I have severe back problems now, and can not sit in the car for more than 20 min, upon a break of fresh air and a walk for the spine. (8) brakes sound and feel (when applied),scratchy. @5,000 miles the chevy dealership had to turn and shave allready my disc brakes saying they were worn in. (9) my heater makes a lot of noises when using it. (10) acceleration hesitation.

12 Front Air Bag problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

Failure Date: 06/14/2006

I was driving to work on rt 8 in butler, PA. A deer ran into my car, hitting the front end. I was going about 50 mph. I slammed on the brakes and got out to look at my car. The front bumper was completely smashed, along with the bumper being folded, ac condenser broke, grille broke, radiator broke. I got back in my car and noticed the air bag symbol was on but by air bags didn't deploy. I wasn't wearing a seat belt and I was the only one in the car. My seat belts locked up for some reason and the air bags didn't go off. I called the chevy company and asked them why, and they told me that you need to hit the car in a certain spot on the car, but a mechanic told me usually if the rebar is cracked the air bags go off. They said there is nothing they can do about it. I paid the car off and I didn't have full coverage. So my car is practically garbage. I think they should at least fix the air bag problem and the seat belts.
