3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2018

On July 1, 2018, my son was driving his 2006 chevy Colorado on the freeway when it combusted in the front driver's side engine area. Thankfully, he was able to exit the vehicle before it became fully engulfed! the pickup burned entirely, very hot and very quick. See attached photos. I did contact gm, as I see there have been many claims of fire in these vehicles. However, gm was unwilling to put effort into trying to determine the cause of this fire that endangered my sons life!! I have received no answers, no compassion, no follow through. It is beyond disappointing for a company such as general motors to not be doing a better job for their consumers.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2009

Truck will go into reduced power mode while driving. When it does this it will chime a few times and then drop the speed you are driving at to whatever it wants usually it's 40 to 20 mph, you cannot go any faster, and there is no warning to this at all, and no pattern as to when it will do this. But it has always done it while I have been driving. This is not the first time that this has happened and luckily no one hit me that was behind me. I have had my truck into a dealership five times, the first two times was to mills in richwood, which they had no idea what to do with the truck as the engine wasn't throwing a code, and they thought it was a bad sensor but didn't know which one so they sent me on my way. The third and fourth time I took it to roby's. The third time they replaced the battery and said that was it, the fourth time they called GMC and said my engine needed a new code in it. Two weeks after that the reduced power light comes on and I almost get killed on the freeway. I then took it to chesrown and they replaced a sensor in the accelerator pedal. No one knows what the problem really is and I'm scared to death I'm going to get killed because my truck does this all the time without warning and the problem is getting worse as before it would be almost half a year to a few months between problems, now it's getting to be every couple of weeks. This has been going on since I bought the truck in may 2006 and I am terrified to drive for fear that the reduce power is going to kick in and someone will be behind me when it happens and hit me and kill me.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2006

Vehicle purchased new on 05/2006. Less than a month after purchase the vehicle would not start due to passlock system believing the car was in the process of becoming stolen. Owner would unlock vehicle with key fob and place key in ignition to start, but red lock icon on dashboard would blink and engine would not turn over. Original key and original key fob used at all times of occurrence. Owner would have to wait ten minutes and try again if vehicle would not start for passlock system to disengage. While under warranty, customer brought vehicle into gm dealer multiple times and the problem could not be verified. This left customer stranded in multiple locations at times and in situations that could have left owner in a dangerous situation based on area. At one point, customer could not start vehicle after a half hour, he than called gm and had the vehicle towed under warranty, the gm dealership stated problem was fixed or corrected. Now, no longer under warranty vehicle has same issue occurring intermittently. Cost to replace passlock sensor is too costly for owner to afford. Other vehicle maintenance is properly done according to owner's manual by local mechanic. . Read more...
