1 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2026

There have about 4 incidents where my vehicle has engaged the automatic emergency breaks while I’m driving, even though there are no cars around me close enough to cause that reaction. Called 911 on most recent incident to get medical evaluation to check chest from seat belt sudden locking.

2 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2025

Vehicle: 2023 Chevrolet Colorado trail boss mileage: approximately 14,000 miles I am submitting this complaint because the abs braking system on my vehicle activates unexpectedly and causes a temporary loss of braking when driving over uneven pavement. When braking over potholes, bumps, or rough road surfaces at low to moderate speeds, the abs system engages even though traction is available. When this happens, brake pressure is reduced to the point where the vehicle does not slow as expected. The abs warning indicator flashes briefly, and there is a noticeable delay before normal braking resumes. This behavior has occurred multiple times in normal driving conditions on city streets, not during panic stops or slippery conditions. The issue feels most pronounced when approaching intersections or slowing in traffic over broken pavement, where consistent braking is critical. The momentary reduction in braking force significantly increases stopping distance and creates a safety concern. The vehicle has low mileage, has not been modified, and is maintained as delivered from the manufacturer. There are no warning lights remaining on after the event, and the issue appears to be related to abs calibration rather than driver input or road conditions. This does not feel like normal abs operation and gives the impression that braking is interrupted at the exact moment it is needed. Given the frequency and repeatability of the issue, I believe this represents a potential safety defect that could contribute to a collision, particularly in urban driving environments with uneven road surfaces. I am submitting this complaint to document the issue and to request that the abs braking behavior on this vehicle be reviewed for safety.

3 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2025

I have had 3 separate occasions where the automatic emergency braking has engaged with nothing in front to trigger it. Each time was one a busy section of road, two of those times I had traffic behind me nearly causing an accident.

4 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2025

Abs check engine light came on after initially taking the vehicle in because of the brakes feeling weird and making noise. This similar issue has been experience by multiple users reported on a chevy Colorado group page on facebook to include 2 cases of individuals, one with a Colorado and another with a gnc canyon, both gm vehicles, that had their brakes fail while operating the vehicles. This was a concerning issue because, in my case, while I drove the vehicle, I was able to punch the brake pedal all the way to the floor while the vehicle was slowing down. The vehicle and part were inspected about 3 different times with the final time, and with video proof of an odd noise it was making, which then caused the dealership service department to actually check the brake pump which then they found to be faulty and needed replacing. This also took about a month and a half of wait time because the part was on backorder. I also spoke to Chevrolet directly where they did not seem to be aware nor cared at the fact I explained to them many owners experienced this same issue and did not acknowledge my concern for safety of the vehicle itself.

5 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2025

While driving in heavy and slow moving traffic at approximately 15 mph, the vehicle in front stopped. The forward collision and automatic emergency braking failed to activate. These safety features are not a replacement for active driving attention, but if they properly function and activate, they could have prevented the rear end collision that occurred.

6 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2025

1) all the sensors on the truck relating to the auto emergency breaking, pass sensors, cruise control etc are malfunctioning, truck was at 10,000 miles at the time and brand new. 2) this feature contributed to an accident on Jan 14 2025. I could not see because of the sun and rear ended the car in front of me. 3)the dtc report on the truck came back and stated 6 errors relating to the systems and sensors to include a data memory loss. 4)took in for servicing at the dealership and they refused to touch the issue. Gm is inspecting the truck Feb 13. 5) there were warning indicators however I though it had to do with ice blockage from a snow storm. That morning I cleaned all the cameras off and did not immediately notice it and assumed it went away. It seems the the warning does not immediately come on takes approximately 1-2 minutes. There is no differentiating a software-servicing issue with a camera blockage.

7 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2025

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving 10 mph and approaching a stopped traffic, the contact stated that the sun temporarily blinded his vision of the roadway. The contact depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to respond and crashed into a stopped motorcycle, causing the motorcycle and the motorcyclist to fall to the ground. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was designed with the forward collision avoidance: automatic emergency braking (aeb) system, which failed to engage as designed. The motorcycle rider was able to escape the scene, while the contact's vehicle continued to move forward and to drive over the rear end of the motorcycle. The motorcycle was damaged and could not be ridden. The motorcyclist sustained physical pain and received first aid from the ambulance; however, the motorcyclist declined medical assistance and was picked up by his girlfriend. The contact did not sustain any injuries. The air bags did not deploy. The check engine warning light illuminated after the crash. The contact stated that the front end and the undercarriage of the vehicle were damaged. The contact was able to drive the vehicle from the scene. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer's auto body shop, where an assessment of the vehicle damage was being performed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 4,700.

8 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2024

Forward collision alert system not warning when a near collision is about to occur. This failure was confirmed by the dealership. The dealership also told me they have 5 other 2024 Colorados also failing with this area of the alert system. The dealership has tried 2 new cameras and the fault continues. Chevrolet care team knows of the failure, but have given no updates on how to correct this.

First occurrence I was traveling 55 mph down a country road at 7:30 a. M. Driving into the sun and at 55 mph with a car following me my truck just instantly locked the brakes up and came to a stop. The second occurrence was at my son's school I turned the corner at a stop sign and right after I turn the corner and started accelerating the truck slammed on the brakes to an instant stop with no cars in front of me or in the other lane on coming.
