The driver side seat belt does not immediately latch when placed in the seat belt housing. To secure the seat belt the driver must keep placing the seat belt latch into the housing multiple times in order for the latch to secure. When brought to the attention of a local Chevrolet service center, their response was to pay >$400 to replace the seat belt housing (near the seat). The service center is lamb Chevrolet in prescott, arizona.

Seat belt cable broke. In my opinion the square edge of the crimp has weakened and ultimately caused the cable to be cut.

Seat belt cable broke between anchor on floor and first connection. Brought to Chevrolet dealer and they said they haven't seen that before. Now I wonder if the other seat belts are defective. There was no previous warning.
Seat belt buckle receiver occasionally does not “click” all the way and takes at times multiple attempts to connect. No light shows that it is disconnected. I’ve noticed it with both front seat belts receiver. Unknown with rear seats I’ve never sat in my vehicles backseats to confirm it there. Unknown if I can get them inspected upon request at my local dealer as they have not been the best with customer service. Seat belt not working correctly doesn’t give me confidence in it in the event of a collision. Unknown if reproduced no inspection has been conducted as of the time of this report. Will move to get that done ASAP.
Over the course of the past year, I've noticed the seat belt tightening against my body as I drive, even without slowing or braking. In the past two weeks, the tightening is so severe that I am unable to pull the seat belt out from locking up. It becomes difficult to unbuckle. This morning the seat belt would not pull out from the pocket where it retracts, but remained locked up there. With much very slow continuous pulling, after about 30 minutes, I was finally able to pull the seat belt so I could actually use it while driving. When the seat belt locks up, it restrains my ability to turn to check the blind spot before changing lanes, or even to lean forward. I am taking the truck to the dealer tomorrow morning, first thing, 0700 03aug2021.

There are crackling sounds coming from the wheel when going over humps. No power while driving or changing lanes it's worst when the ac is on, was burning gas like crazy, and shakes at 65 mph. , the gas while escalating makes a clicking noise like 2 iron knocking together, and the dashboard including the radio, and telephone screens goes blank/black. From time to time from day one, the truck drop dead/blank in August 2021, ac comes on while not on time to time. The tire sensors read wrong, the door is making clicking noise, outside air is coming into the cabin, and exhaust fumes. It's very damp by my feet and under the steering under the driver's feet it's rusty, the safety alarms are on from time to time. From time to time the belt will squeeze while driving. Yes, the truck has been at the dealership lots of times, every time they claim they can't find the leaks or the problem! and refuse to set up any warranty repairs.
Tl- the contact rented a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph the warning "failed seat belt" suddenly displayed and when pressing the brake pedal the vehicle would not immediately stop and smoke was present in the cabin of the vehicle. A bystander extinguished the flames and the fire and police departments came to the scene and filed reports. The vehicle was later towed away. For a while now, my truck has been aggressively shaking when I hit highway speeds so I've spent money getting balances and alignments and tires to try and fix the issue, but nothing works. I've also been having acceleration issues, but when I take it to a shop to be looked at, nobody can find the problem. Then a few days ago, I was on the highway doing around 65 or so in the rain and it did its usual shaking. I lost control, the truck spun out and hit the wall. The cop came and asked if my truck had been doing any shaking. I told him yes. . . I came home and my family asked if it had been shaking as well. I asked why everyone was mentioning the truck shaking. They told me about the chevy recalls. So I'm reaching out bc I've been trying to figure out and paying money to fix the shaking issues and the accelerator issues with no success and now I've been in a wreck and could've lost my life. I only hurt my foot and my girlfriend was cut and burned by airbags. I need help. Please.
Have a lot of difficulty getting the seatbelt to lock into place. Once vehicle is placed in park, the key will not rotate to the off position and cannot remove it.
My driver seat belt fails to lock, it has been happening for a few months, but has gotten drastically worse. I have an appointment with a dealership, but the first available appointment is Thursday November 7th 2019. I am in a group on facebook for this vehicle and others are experiencing the same issue.

Paint is bubbled on hood, transmission does not shift properly, frount shocks blown out at 36000 miles, seat belts dont function properly, engine idles rough, radio does not work.
Received a safety letter several year ago (told number was 14609), I called the dealer when I got the letter (approximately 2014) and was told since my airbag light was on even though my seat belt didn't retract properly, I was not valid for the fix. Move forward to today, my airbag light came on a couple weeks ago (intermittent at first, then steady), my seat belt hasn't retracted properly for years. I took it to a mechanic for repair and they replaced the seat belt retractor. So 2 fold, I find out the letter was just an extended warranty which I missed by date but not by miles. And everything online implies the wiring harness should have been replaced so not only am I out the money I am not sure if we solved the issue. I don't understand how y'all could have made an airbag issue just an note on the page (extended warranty which expired on me) when if my airbag doesn't work it's a safety issue which could result in my death.

Dirt road 11pm at night, turned left to get out of the uneven ground about 5 mph, side curtain went off, seatbelt pretensioners deployed.
I was driving slowly around 3 mph on a national forest service road when suddenly the side curtain airbags went off and seatbelts locked. The truck was in 4wd low and off road mode was active. There was no reason for these airbags to have gone off.
I was driving on sand and the side curtain airbags deployed without cause, along with the seat belt pretensioners.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado. While driving 35 mph with a front seat passenger, the air bag and seat belt warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the front seat passenger's seat belt was latched. The vehicle was taken to karl Chevrolet (1101 se oralabor rd, ankeny, IA 50021, (515) 299-4300) where it was diagnosed that the present passenger module high end input was faulty and the module needed replacement. The vehicle was not immediately repaired because the dealer needed to order the parts. The contact was notified by the dealer to pick up the vehicle until the parts became available. While driving home from the dealer without a front seat passenger, the air bag and seat belt warning indicators failed to illuminate. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken back to the dealer 20 days later when the parts became available. The vehicle was repaired. After the vehicle was repaired, the contact inquired if the dealer disconnected the front passenger air bag and seat belt warning system. The owner of the dealer confirmed that the system was disconnected. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and of the disconnection of the warning system by the technician. A claim was opened with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 300.
Wires in the harness which pass from cab to left rear door break. The break disables the seat belt lock up mechanism. A broken wire causes the air bag readiness light to illuminate. The door open and close switch is inoperable. The left rear stereo speaker does not work.

The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that the air bag warning light remained illuminated. The dealer was unable to reset the air bag warning light. Approximately one week later, the vehicle was parked and a loud pop sound was heard from the vehicle as well as the odor of gun powder. The contact discovered that the front driver's side seat belt retractor exploded. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the seat belt retractor needed to be replaced. The air bag warning light still needed to be reset. The seat belt retractor was replaced, but the failure recurred and blew a hole into the rear driver side door panel. The vehicle was not repaired a second time. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 76,126.

This vehicle started having problems with the air bag light staying on, I took the truck into local chevy dealer on October 16, 2015 and it was determined that the code for the airbag and seat belt retractor were the problem and the cost was $1288. I received a letter from Chevrolet dated October 2015 which outlined the identical problem and I have called them and the case#8-1632849396 they refuse to cover this problem because the miles on the truck is 135,000 miles and they stated that the coverage is only up to 120,000. This problem is a safety issue and should be a recall and not limited to miles as they are attempting to do with the letter. I have not had truck repaired.

Driver side back door wiring harness between door and frame. 3 wires are broken inside boot. This is second time this has happened. Lasted 3 years. I have pictures. Part number 15214393 June 10 2012 air bag light on dash. Onstar told me that seat belt tensioner was not operating, and air bag will not deploy until it is corrected. Found that driver side back door that 2 wires were broken in the harness in the between door and body in boot. Gm part number 15214393. I have pictures. This is a problem and still no recall. No air bags till fixed.
When I started my truck the red air bag warning light was on steady. I went to find out why the air bag light was on it was for the seat belt pre-tensioner. It was in a fault situation. It was giving 2 codes for this but was not told what they were. Upon closer examination it had 2 broken wires inside a rubber boot that leads from the extended cab rear door to the body. I was told this is very common for extended cabs as the wiring is to short and is pinched when the rear door opens and shuts. The wires eventually fail and cause the air bag system to go into a fault situation and no longer work. Also I was told that the other wires in the rubber boot will also eventually fail including the speaker wire and interior light sensor wires. I was told this is an extended cab issue no other models seem to do this.
My vehicle's electronic safety system began to report that the driver's side seatbelt was not latched, even though it was. I took it in for diagnosis & repair at my local gm dealer (bob hook Chevrolet, 4144 bardstown rd. , louisville ky 40218). However, the first replacement part (driver¿s side seatbelt, with latch & wires) quickly failed the same way as the first one did. Therefore, I had to take the vehicle in for service a second time and the same part was replaced again. From what I've researched online, it seems that this issue may likely be the same one that a recall on the 2012 Colorado trucks was issued for ¿ refer to the info. . Read more...

Prepared on behalf of my father, who is the primary driver. On 2/22/2014 it was noticed that the airbag warning lamp became illuminated. Dtc indicated concern in driver's seat belt pretensioner circuit. Additional diagnosis also identified that lh rear speaker was inoperative as well. Wiring harness was inspected, identified fractured wires within the conduit boot between lh rear access door and body. The access door on this vehicle is opened and closed approximately twice per day. Basic online research identified many consumer complaints for this exact condition. Additional research through NHTSA consumer complaints identified a minimum of 15 unique complaints which identified wiring concerns, on extended cab vehicles between the access door and body, resulting in incapacitated srs systems. 10 of the 15 identified complaints specifically identify; broken, cut, or disconnected wiring failures. This failure occurs through normal operation of the vehicle. Please investigate the trend that is evident for this safety concern.

I don't remember everything because I was airlifted. I ran a stop sign and myself, my grandson, and my daughter-n-law (my grandson's mother was in backseat) and my great grandson in car seat were on our way home coming from near columbus GA. According to the data recorder from the truck all our seat belts were fastened. Another vehicle hit my truck and my grandson was ejected and killed. . His seatbelt failed. I failed a complaint with general motors in November 2013 and they turned it over to esis to handle. I have yet to hear anything as of today August 6, 2014. I never got a recall on this either. Even though they have the data report stating seat belts were fastened, they will not respond to my emails. I have emailed [xxx] and other executives and nothing has been done. Needless to say, general motors is a multi billion dollar company who cares about noone. I hope you will respond to my email. I won't even begin to tell you how devastated our family still is. Something needs to be done. The vehicle was totaled. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
