1 Tire problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 07/08/2024

At approximately 6:15am while driving at approx 45mph on a surface street on the right lane, I noticed an alert on the dashboard regarding the psi of the rear driver side tire had 0 psi of pressure and simultaneously heard the thudding sounds of a flat tire. I neither heard, nor felt any impact and there were no potholes in that section of road. I pulled over and called for roadside assistance to replace the tire with my spare. I noticed a large tear from the tread nearly all the way down to the bead along the wall of the tire. Tire m+s 255/65 r17 110t. When the tech arrived he noted the tire was new (purchase and installed 42 days earlier). I asked if he's seen this before as I hadn't, and he said he'd only seen it when a driver hit a curb, which I had not. In the early evening I took the tire back to the shop where it was purchased and before even looking at the tire they informed me I "must have hit something" and will just need to purchase a replacement. After they inspected the tire at my insistence, they concluded I must've hit something but I believe it was a case of confirmation bias. I pointed out, and they did not refute, that there was no other damage to the tire, no damage to the rim, and no damage to the vehicle. The subject tire is still in my possession and available for inspection.

At the time of my third tire rotation, my dealer informed me that my tires were worn down to the wear bars and needed replacement. Mileage at the time was only 19,474. Gm would not take responsibility for replacement or partial re-imbursement of the general p225/75/r15 tires, even though they were factory-installed on the truck as purchased in 2008. The tires either were defective, or gm chose to put very poor tires on their new Colorado trucks as a way of cutting costs.

I have a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado z71 4x4 crew cab. I've had the truck since the end of February and now have the tire vibration problem. I've had it to the dealership 4 times for this problem and it hasn't been fixed yet. They've rotated and balanced the original tires, they've replaced the tires with new general tires, and still now it has a bad vibration problem that is worse now. The dealership can't seem to get it fixed.

Dt: the tires wobble on the vehicle and make the vehicle vibrate. There have been 13 tires put on this truck since 9-27-04. The truck also fishtails on these tires when the speed is 50 and over. Gm has been contacted and all they want to do is extend the warranty and keep replacing the tires. Gm has informed the owner that these general tires, general ameritrac tr are the only tires that are showing wear on the inside. All four tires on all four locations have been replaced. The rear passenger tire has been replaced one extra time for a factory defect. This is a z-71 suspension. The correction: the dealership keeps changing out the tires and gm has supplied a rental vehicle while this has been an on going issue. The tire are general ameritrac tr. Tire size 265/75r15.
