On October 10, 2020. I was drag racing my 2008 Corvette (that I drive daily on the public roads) at the local track as I have been all this season and part of last year's too after acquiring the car mid 2019. I have been drag racing for the better part of 40 years. I am saying this to alleviate any possible thoughts of rookie moves on my part on the track, etc. The local track is an nhra sanctioned track that takes safety very seriously and their track prep is second to none, especially at this particular event, that is attended by hundreds of racers from many states. I staged my car in the right lane of the track with "competition mode" engaged, as I have every time in the past. The car launched straight and true as it normally does. The run was completely normal and straight until after crossing the quarter mile finish line, when I let off the gas, the car made an immediate hook to the right, directly into the concrete retaining wall. I bounced off that wall, crossing the path of my opponent in the left lane, in a near collision, bouncing off the left wall, and then back over again into the right wall. I was able to get out of the car on my own. I was completely stunned, because at the time I had absolutely no idea what caused any of this. Nothing made sense. By the time you cross the finish line, unless there's something on the track, loss of traction is highly unlikely. In my own investigation I ran across muliple events of this particular make and model that has had active handling issues the only thing that makes sense to me that could have caused this type of action would probably have been a heavy braking of the right rear wheel. My son recorded this pass and accident on his phone and it shows the car turning right before any brake lights come on. Any help or information you can supply would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Service active handling system on display. While driving the day before, the car made a very quick motion to the left while driving at 65mph. Investigation found the steering wheel sensor pushed out of it's housing and dangling on the steering column shaft under the dash. The powered telescoping steering wheel pushed the assembly out of place causing the fault. I disconnected the steering wheel sensor to prevent any further activation of the active handling. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly; 4 - VIN corrected, error in one position only (indicated by ! in suggested VIN), multiple matches found; 14 - unable to provide information for all the characters in the VIN. #vpic#.

Service active handling system warning has been on now for better than three weeks. While the car is in motion.
After filling tank with gasoline there is a leak. The fumes from the leak are very strong in my garage, requiring me to ventilate the area to prevent an explosion. I do not overfill. The auto-turnoff at the pump won't allow that. Apparently the leak is where the two tanks are connected.
The service active handling light appeared and almost lost control of the car because of a rf brake locking up. The car was going about 40 mph in a city street.

I have owned this 2001 Corvette since it was new it has less than 7000 miles on it. On Friday may 8th 2020 I had to have it towed to the dealer century Chevrolet in broomfield colorado. The service column lock is on at the dash and I cannot turn the steering wheel and if you try to drive it the vehicle will stall. I had recall 04006 preformed on the car on 10/25/2004 with 1912 miles on it and this was a reprograming of the pcm. I have since learned there has been 2-3 updates for this condition and there is a recall 04006c and special policy #05081 for a new wiring harness to be installed to correct this condition. I was never contacted by gm about this and feel I should not have to pay for a defect they know about! the vehicle was towed out of my garage /driveway we had to push it out of the garage onto a tow truck and it is currently at the dealership waiting to here what they are going to do. I don't think they are going to offer any help nor did they want to pickup the tow charges and add it to the bill. Regardless I have to fix the vehicle as it does me no good the way it is. With this said the original fix of the recall did not fix the vehicle and the now known fix should be done at no charge to the consumer/customer. This vehicle is in mint condition and has not been modified in any way and taken care of like new since owned. I am reaching out to you because the right thing needs to happen and gm should accept responsibility for there actions and knowingly that there is a defect. I am lucky I was not driving this vehicle as I was planning on driving the morning this happened as I could of killed myself or someone else.

Was driving around 25 mph when the service active handling light came on and I almost crashed into a parked car because the brakes applied and steered to the right.

Car applied right front brake on the street in front of my house, causing a severe swerve into shoulder of road. There is a known active handling fault on these cars. It has been in for repair twice. The car only has 3200 miles on it. There is a service active handling light on the dash now. Dealer has attempted to repair.

The active handling/ stability control inadvertently engages without warning, whether turned on or off when driving. When it does happen the car displays a service active handling code which in turn places the car in "limp mode".
On-going issue with the Corvette's and gm's active handling. This car has had the previous recall for the same issue. While steering and making a lane change on a city street, the vehicle's active handling kicked in locking up my front brakes. It veered me to the left and in to the other lane. Especially hazardous if you're not expecting it and don't know about it, as this time I was not expecting it to happen. Typically tends to happen at lower speeds around 35 mph while making some steering movement like lane changes.
Ebcm failure resulting in loss of anti skid system, active handling system and traction control system. This is a serious safety issue which directly impacts the braking system and steering. Apparently it's a common failure and gm has stopped manufacturing of the needed modules. The result is that hundreds of thousands of this type of vehicle are either unsafe now or will become unsafe without any warning.
The service active handling light comes on and the car will immediately lock and release the left front brake. Its spooky because if you're not holding the steering wheel tightly the car will pull sharply to that direction.
Car stopped at stop sign turning right into traffic, steering became shakier and brakes started locking up and traction control service light came on. Top speed was 20mph.
When I move the sterring wheel completely to the left the car have and interruption and pull to the left or right and the service active handling system message appears.
Abs/traction control lights on. Went to dealer and no part is available to make the repair. So I have no abs or tracion control on my car part no 9367071 & 12530740.

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. While driving approximately 15 mph and making a turn, the vehicle began to fishtail. The contact released the accelerator pedal to stabilize the vehicle as various warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence and remained parked for one week. When the vehicle was started again, all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to kuni Chevrolet Cadillac (916-538-721, located at 7 2449 fulton Ave, sacramento, CA 95825) where the computer system was replaced. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the failure would be investigated. The contact stated that the vehicle remained at the dealer's for several weeks and was not repaired. The failure mileage was 45,091.

The car is equipped with electric stability control. At speed on the freeway a warning sound occurs and the car swerves and some of the brakes come on and no brake lights are on. It is very dangerous and could cause me to have an accident. Gm issued a tech bulletin 06-02-35-002b. Current investigation #ea09-002. Something has to be done here cause as these cars age the problem will continue to grow.
When turning at slow speeds, the active suspension will either activate or force a dic message "service active handling system. " sometimes, this occurs simultaneously with abs activation of the brakes. This has caused me to drive into head- on lanes, or forced me to stop in moving traffic without brake lights. It seems worse in cold or wet weather. Restarting the car will reset the display.
Twice today my 2005 Corvette temporarily locked its front left brake followed by giving me an "service active handleing" message. First time on the freeway after hitting a bump and 2nd going about 40mph. Both times driving straight. After turning car off and on the message was gone. This is a serious issue and the dealers seem to deny any common issue with this although iv seen thousands of posts on the matter from other owners.
Making a u-turn or any extreme position of steering wheel rotation causes abs and service traction control lights to engage and forces a seizure if the brakes, locking them and preventing any kind of movement. The only solution to unlocking brakes through my experience is to shut off and restart the vehicle.
I was notified by my on-star that my vehicle was on a recall, regarding the eps elecironic power steering could be loss and could increase the risk of a crash.

I was driving my vehicle at approximately 68 mph in a straight line on the highway. The road conditions were dry and cold. I was driving straight and did not hit any bumps in the road when suddenly I felt the steering pulling my car about 1/4 turn to the left and about a 1/2 turn to the right and brakes were applied, not by me. I then heard a chiming noise and saw an error code on my dash saying "service active handling system". I gained control of my vehicle and exited the highway. I read on many forums that other c6 owners, especially years '05-'06 have had this issue and that the defect may lie in the steering wheel position sensor connector. My vehicle is equipped with a telescoping steering wheel where this issue seems to arise.
If a sensor faults related to the "active handling system" the front driver side brake locks up. At that time it give a "service active handling" notice. This happens while at any speed in including at highway speed. The brake locks up completely for about one second before releasing. Results in extremely hard pull to the left. Vehicle had previous recall service performed but recall service does not prevent the lock up. Date listed below is the last time as I had the service department disconnect the sensor to turn the system off upon starting the vehicle. This was done to eliminate fault that could result in a potentially fatal accident.
After telescoping steering wheel, active handling system warning light came on and while driving car pulled left into oncoming traffic lane.

The abs light and traction control are non-functioning. Chevrolet dealer advised the problem is the electronic brake control module. Chevrolet discontinued the part and no parts are available. I was advised they can not fix this issue and my car will simply not have abs or traction control functionality anymore. Hard for me to believe Chevrolet cant be held responsible to provide parts to repair their own cars for a feature such as abs systems.

While driving 70+mph on an interstate, "reduced power mode" and "service active handling" warnings illuminated on the dic aong with the check engine light. The vehicle then completely shut off making it extremely dangerous to get safely out of the paths of other vehicles. This has happened to the vehicle about 8 times now in varying circumstances, mostly while in motion. Error codes taken from handheld programmer include: p1516, p2101, p2135.
When using telescoping steering wheel the active handling light a came on and the car pulled hard to the left into oncoming traffic lane while driving . I had never used the telescoping sterling wheel feature prior to this .
Service active handling.

Electronic stability control (traction control / active handling) system warning lights on. Ref: NHTSA action number: pe08056.
I got a service active handling light that came on the dash two days ago, and went after restarting the car a few times. While I was drive yesterday and doing about 70 mph, the car pulled violently to the left and I had to make a rapid correction to avoid hitting the truck next to me. As that happened I instinctively glanced at my instrument cluster and the service active handling, seems to have lit up the instance the car made to sudden left swing. I've read on the Corvette forums, that this seems to be a problem that has been plaguing the c6 z06. This also happened a couple of years while I was approaching a stop light and was going about 25 to 30 mph. I don't use the car that often, only while I'm on vacation, which is about 3 to 4 times per year. The light will come on from time to time but the sudden left swing only happened twice.
I received a message on the information screen on the dash, it says service active handling system. Is there a recall for this. . Read more...
The wire to the starter melts out causing the entire charging system to stop working an drains the battery causing the motor to shut off while driving . Then no power steering or breaks.
