Vehicle's engine has been overheating since the day I got it. Engine leaking oil. I had the transmission, head cover gasket, valve cover and water pump all repaired. Check engine light is still on and no mechanic can figure out why. Vehicle still overheats and leaks oil.
Got the car from drivetime on 04/25/16 from drivetime in highland indiana. Not even 30 days when I was driving to go to work something popped up on my screen saying a/c cutting off due to engine over heating. I pulled over and called aeverex and pepboys and was told to not drive the car. Aeveree donex had to have a tow company come and have the car towed which my car was in the shop for 2 to 3 days because they didnt have the part. Got my car back on 5/17/16. I have a list of things that had to be done to the car. Now the car is doing the same thing again. A/c cutting off due to over heating. Looked under the hood and the coolant is leaking and the reservoir is empty. It didnt give off no noticed that something was wrong with this car the car. Im taking this car to the shop once again for the same problem. I looked online and come to find out the 2011 chevy Cruze has a recall on the Cruze due to coolant leaking. I also had taken it to the shop and was told it was the water pump which I already had it replaced once. I also emailed the gm and explained my issue and was told that their was no recall on my car which I find to be untrue. Something is wrong with this car. I also have the papers from pep boys on what was done the 1st time. Once I get it to the shop tommorow I will update what was done again.
I bought my car March 2015 and I have had nothing but problems since I got it. I still owe $ 8000. 00 on it and the gm company told me my motor is blowed. My father is a mechanic and took a look and said he believes my car jumped time because my water pump quit. Morgan mcclure told me they would fix it but it will cost me 3500 dollars. I think all these cars need to be taken off road and everyone who has had issues should get placed in another car. . I am paying a total of 17,000 for my car and its not even drivable. I will never by another Cruze and I will let everyone know the issues so they don't buy one earthier. Ive been ripped off with this car since the day I bought it . This is exactly what happened to my car. . I drove my car to work with no issues. When I got off work I crank my car and drove it to morgan mcclure to get a reservoir cap for my car because it wouldn't tighten down like it was stripped. I cut my car off went in to morgan mcclure and bought cap. Put it on and my car wouldn't crank back. They looked at car and charged me $35. 00 for looking at it for 2 seconds to tell me it has no compression and my motor is blowed. They told me they can fix it but I need a new or used motor and it will cost $3500. 00.
Existing recall recall number: 12v288000 applies to my vehicle despite my VIN not qualifying for this recall. I have had to replace several parts relating to engine cooling including a water pump on two occasions within 9 months. It is well documented with my gm service center (bergstrom gm of neenah, WI 920. 722. 1111) and other certified mechanics that oil has been found and cleaned out of several areas of my engine including: the turbo charger, intake manifold, throttle body, charge air cooler and its inlet and outlet pipes, and cylinders. In addition, my thermostat has failed and does not notify me of an over-heating issue. An overheating engine that leaks oil throughout with no warning from the thermostat is a recipe for disaster.
Practically every day I drive my car, I experience extreme shifting and transmission issues. Specifically, I have to floor the gas pedal for the car to move from 2nd to 3rd shift. This is an automatic car, and it drives like a poorly shifting manual. It is extremely unsafe to drive because it does not accelerate when I hit the gas pedal, rather the engine revs very high and loudly, yet the car does not accelerate. It also has made loud popping sounds from the engine, and the car fills with an exhaust smell, and during the winter coolant smell is obvious in and outside the car. I am very uncomfortable driving-and feel unsafe-driving this car and it is almost four years old with less than 50,000 miles! I have brought it to the dealership on the below dates and they cannot ?duplicate the issue?, thus have not fixed it. On one occasion, the dealership had my car for 3-weeks! I have no idea if the dealership is even daily testing, or driving, the car. I do know, however, it is extremely unsafe because the shifting and accelerating is unreliable and will most doubtable cause an accident injuring myself and/or others. I have also called gm and numerous occasions and they were very unhelpful, stating they never heard of a shifting/transmission issue with the chevy Cruze, when in fact the 2011 chevy Cruze was recalled for shifting lock cable. I have received, unsolicited; a letter from a lawfirm to sue gm noting this exact issues shifting/power issues (amongst faulty water pumps, which I also had replaced after only owing the car 2-years), so clearly there are many others experiencing these issues. Dates brought my car to (sullivan's oneills in avon, CT) 1/16/2015; 5/2/2015; 5/09/2015;5/13/2015; 6/24/2015; 7/17/2015 my gm service tickets are 71-1490864298 & 71-1490864298. The car is either a lemon, or needs to be recalled for shifting/transmission issues.
I was driving home from work in rush hour traffic. My speed dropped without warning from 35 mph to about 5 mph. I got a warning light indicating "engine power reduced" and the engine indicator light came on. I managed to pull car over to a side street and turned it off. I restarted it and the engine indicator light came on but I was able to make it home (about 12 miles). I called the service department at a local dealership to try to get some sort of idea of what was happening to my car. He suggested I call gm customer service and asked how many miles were on the car. I told him and he indicated the problem may be under a recall. Needless to say 5 days later I just heard from the service center that the problem is the throttle body assembly and it will cost me about $600+taxes to repair. He stated I have heavy carbon build up and something about the induction service. My biggest problem outside of not having six hundred dollars to give is that in November I paid $300+ to have the water pump replaced and three weeks before that it was in the shop and threee weeks prior to that it was in the shop. I am so disappointed and hurt by all these repairs. I ended up with a Cruze because my kia was hit head on in a crash and the frame was cracked. I had no problems with my kia.
Yes, I too had problems with my 2011 chevy Cruze. I was very glad that nothing happened to me while I was driving the car, I was just sitting at an idle stage; when I had all the bells going off and it had told me that engine reduced power. I to had to go and get this fixed and again like everyone else it was the throttle body and fuel injection system; cost $460. Not even a month later now I have no heat in the car and reading all the forums sounds like I am going to have to replace a water pump; joy for me. At first I really did love this car, but I find that the after the warranty goes seems like the car is falling apart. We should not be having these issues this early in the car's life. I also find it very bad poor customer service on gm's part that they are turning a blind eye to this. These parts need to be recalled ASAP, why is no one doing anything about this?.
Vehicle has had water pump replaced earlier this year under warranty - and had the turbo charger replaced last week under warranty. Not covered under warranty last week was a "leaking" battery. Since battery was original - I felt it was worth replacing. Yesterday, while driving to work, the check engine light came on and the heater stopped working. Today - the dealer calls me and states that they need to replace a hose and outlet. There was no leak yesterday - and they state that there is a leak and this is the reason. They want $250 for repairs. The hose was fine yesterday - and the outlet should have been replaced with the water pump (actually they should have replaced the hose at that time also). No response from gm quality care. Over $500 in the last two weeks - and I am not certain that this issue is over. It has also had two computers replaced when I first got it.
While driving home noticed that the temp gauge was moving and then as I slowed in traffic the gauge went from cool to hot within seconds. Warning came up on dash that ac was being powered off due to overheating and then suddenly it was gone and the ac came back on and the gauge dropped. Within 10 minutes the same warning happened again but the temperature gauge did not move and the check engine light came on. Ended up being the water pump which was covered under warranty.
I purchased the 2011 chevy Cruze with approx 55 k. When I drove the car at the lot everything seemed to be in good working order. The next day I kept hearing a surge like sound in the engine and when the accelerator was pushed the car would not gain any speed or power. I contacted the dealer and explained what was going on with the car and was told that this was common in the chevy Cruzes because of the engine size and that why the car is able to get such great gas mileage. I could not stand the noise any longer March 19, 2014 I took the car to the dealers service department where car was purchased. I informed them of the issues I was having with the surging sound and the loss of speed & power. The next day informed me they could not hear any surging sound and only found 1 problem leaking thermostat. I was referred to the gm dealer to get fixed under the powertrain warranty. It has not even been a full year since I purchased this car. On April 7th 2014 I was driving on the freeway during rush hour and all of sudden I hear a dinging sound all the engine lights came on, along with the hazards lights and the car began to lose power, the center panel kept reading transmission hot idle engine. I had not had any other previous warnings, all the gauges appeared to be normal with no sign of over heating. I contacted the chevy dealer and took the car down right away. Explained to them what happened and the issues the diagnoses that was given from the service dept where car was purchased. The next day the chevy dealer contacted me and said they had replace the water pump. Also the transmission had burnt oil and needs to be flushed and it was not covered under the warranty. They too could not find anything else wrong as to why transmission is running hot,not even with the surging sound and lose of power. April 11th 2014 had the same issues again.
My children & I almost didn't make it home! was experiencing issues with the heat not heating up the car on Tuesday and on yesterday, I was driving north on the 394 expressway and received an error message on my dashboard of "a/c shut off due to high temperatures" so I turned the heat off and the gauge slowed moved back down. However, after driving a short distance further the temperature gauge had moved all the way to the "red" line and I receive the error message to "shut the engine down" because of overheating. I immediately pulled and slowly the gauge moved back to the normal position. I called the dealership that worked on my car less than 3 weeks ago and the service advisor informed me that it may be another glitch but he wanted to ensure that all of my fluids were fine and since I wasn't very far from the dealership to bring the car in (even though their service dept was closing in about 20 mins). After looking at the car, the service advisor informed that just about all of the coolant ran out and there was probably an issue with the water pump. I was shocked, bothered & frustrated because it had been less than a month that I just had to have this car worked on. Fortunately, the water pump didn't cost me anything due to it still being under warranty but that still doesn't change the fact that I'm a very dissatisfied customer.
On 12/12/13 my problems with my 2011 chevy Cruze began. The engine began making a humming noise, the check engine light would come on intermittently, it began to randomly lose power and overheat. On 12/20/13 3-way Chevrolet replaced the cam phase and water pump. On 01/01/14, the vehicle began making the same humming noise but louder and had a consistent loss of power. On 01/08/14, 3-way replaced the turbo charger. I picked up th vehcile on 01/09/14 and within 1 hour the check engine light came back on. I took the vehicle back to 3-way on 01/10/2014 and did not get the vehicle back until 02/20/2014. During that time, the cylinder head and valves were replaced, pistons and rings were replaced, injectors and coils were swaped from another vehicle and the car still had misfire. A gm engineer was brought in and the turbo charger was replaced again and the oil feed line was plugged. On 02/21/14, I noticed fluid in my driveway. The car is leaking something and the power is still not consistent. I contacted 3-way late Friday and am waiting for a call back. I have be inconvienced beyond words, the vehicle is unsafe and I want gm to purchase the car back.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. While driving at 20 mph, the contact noticed a chemical odor coming from the air vents in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. However, the failure recurred and the contact noticed that there was no coolant in the reservoir. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who diagnosed that the water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the hose from the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000.
Car overheated on drive home. Pulled over immediately and had car towed to dealership. Water pump was replaced. Since that time can continually smell antifreeze inside car. Also have found puddles under car several times. Have taken car back to dealership. Was told they could find no leak. They stated the surge tank cap was loose and that they refilled tank. But it still smells. It is serviced by the dealership only. So why are they having to tighten the cap? and are they having to fill the surge tank repeatedly?.
I am notifying you that I have had my water pump replaced three times since I have owned the car which was bought in April of 2012 with 9,000 miles on it, it seems every fall I am replacing the water pump as it has some sort of leak internally. It is very frustrating to continue to have this problem. Now recently my turbo oil line sprung a leak at 92,000 miles and so did my transmission oil line so it was back in the repair shop. I have also had to replace the heated seat element as this has burnt out somehow. This car has been very frustrating mechanically but otherwise love my Cruze. Is there anything I can do besides wait for the 4th water pump to claim a lemon under the lemon law?.
I purchased this vehicle new from a chevy dealership in eden prairie, mn. After only 2 mths, it began intermittently hesitating, lurching forward when attempting to accelerate (while sometimes blowing hot air from the ac) & refusing to accelerate. Multiple times it has completely stalled out (while driving 30-40 mph on a highway & when accelerating from a stop on a hill resulting in rolling backward). It is currently at the dealership for the 4th time for this specific issue, but does not show any codes (no ses light). They have made many repairs in an attempt to fix this issue (leaking water pump, reprograms, wastegate solenoid replacement, etc), but the problem still persists. I am concerned that my car will stall while on a highway or passing through an intersection, which would pose a huge safety threat. I have seen numerous similar complaints & would like gm to accept responsibility & replace/recall these vehicles.
