general problems of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze - part 1

The engine is leaking oil. There are clearly known issues with this engine such as oil leaks and engine fires. There was a previous recall on this issue that says complete but we are still having the same issue. The Chevrolet corporate office and dealerships do not want to take responsibility.

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rpm increased and there was a burning oil odor on the interior of the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stopped and parked the vehicle. The contact performed an inspection under the hood and when the oil cap was removed, the contact noticed a whistling sound. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failed intake manifold. The contact was informed that the intake manifold needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet cruz. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the temperature gauge indicated that the engine was hot (h). Upon checking the coolant level, the contact discovered that the coolant reservoir was empty. The contact refilled the coolant reservoir; however, the failure returned, and the coolant immediately leaked out of the vehicle. The contact refilled the coolant reservoir a second time and drove to an independent mechanic. A diagnostic test was performed that showed that a cracked tube under the coolant had caused a gasket to blow, leading to the coolant leak. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

Since I’ve brought the car there is always an issue with the car overheating and something with the cooling system that needs to be repaired. It happens frequently and I’ve spent more in repairs than what I paid for the car. It’s always something with the coolant system that causes it to overheat which is dangerous.

While driving home on the interstate after work, I was travelling at around 65 miles per hour, with the cruise control set at that speed. In an instant I lost all engine power and began to slow down very rapidly. A quick look to the rearview mirror to ensure nothing was approaching the rear of my vehicle, I found that I could see nothing except grey and white smoke behind me from all three mirrors. I was forced to remove myself from the highway for fear of causing an accident by blinding drivers with the smoke coming from my exhaust, and I was able to use the service road to get to the next fueling station. Upon arrival, I opened the hood and found that oil had sprayed out of every available portal in the engine, it exited through the vacuum lines, pressure sensors onto my alternator, saturated my serpentine belt as well as everything else ion the engine compartment. I noticed most of the oil came from a round hole behind the oil filler cap through a busted vacuum diaphragm that had blown out instead of regulating vacuum, indicating extreme positive pressure in the crankcase. As this was my mos in the army, I am experienced with dangers and risks involved in these situations, and I will give warning that if this happens during the right traffic situations, lives will be lost as a result of the smoke screen developimg when the oil hits the catalytic convertors combined with the rapid decline in speed without warning of any kind, and when it does happen, and it will, since there are 8 million of these vehicles on the road and counting, this complaint should serve as proper and fair warning od the damgers and risks with allowing this engine to remain in use without a warning system to indicate the tiny plastic check valve has been released from its position. I was fortunate enough that I only suffered a few curse words and horns blowing and flipping me the bird, but I have to admit I was afraid for my life and someone with less driving experience will have a bad outcom.

September 21, 2023 had taken my 2011 chevy Cruze to a service center because I noticed an oil leak on my garage floor. The service center replaced the intake manifold cover. Yesterday October 25, 2023 major oil leak, had to pull over, engine was smoking badly. Popped the hood and there was oil all over cover and most components around this area. I was told by a few good samaritans that this oil leaking could potentially cause a fire. No warning lights, only a bad smell and seeing smoke.

Noticed a very hard transmission shift when accelerating from approximately 35 to 40 mph. Hard shifting in this vehicle has been observed over the past year. Milage is approximately 60,000 miles.

Engine failed due to coolant system failure.

I purchased a car on 8-11& I didn’t pick it up until 8/13 of this year . On 8/14 the electrical went out of my middle consol starting with the radio and then down to the heating and air-conditioning buttons along with the fact that the windows would not roll down or up . When you use the bluetooth in the car the ac shuts down and I hear a roaring sound coming from the engine as well as whenever I stop the car just jumps. There is also a sound in the steering wheel whatever it’s turned right to left.

Seven recalls!!! chevy claims there are no recalls for this VIN number. 7 is way to many!!! not to mention their valve covers on this car are terrible, no wonder the engine catches fire, I’ve had it replaced 3 times. I’ve replaced cooling components multiple times an never got any recall notifications from chevy!!!!!! please help.

Engine light and p2099 waste gate actuator pin on the turbo of the Cruze has malfunctioned. There was a recall for this exact issue and my vehicle year was included but not my VIN number. I have less than 95,000 miles on the car and this part should also be recalled on my vehicle as well. I drive daily taking 2 freeways. I stopped at the traffic light and the car felt like shaking. Stabilitrack warning and traction control warning light and messages appeared on the screen and also the check engine light turned on, and abs too. Break pedal was really hard to push and breaks were not working (I was not reducing speed at all) and it felt like the engine loose power and the car felt rough while driving. I was approaching to another traffic light and it was a red light so I prepared to decrease my speed and stop to wait for the green light. When I placed my foot and pressed the break pedal, it was hard. I was pushing it hard but the pedal did not respond, it was very hard and not moving at all and I was almost on the intersection, which always has heavy traffic with cars, 18 wheeler trucks and delivery trucks and more because its an industrial zone and amazon and ups are on this avenue along with other major companies. I could be involved and be responsible for a really bad crash if the light wouln't turn green on time. Fortunately it changed to the green light and I was in the very front. After this, I tried to go to the side if the road but there was a sidewalk and it was a no parking zone with no space/edge to park in case of emergency. I drove slowly with my emergency lights on and moved to the right lane until I found a space to stop. The car was shaking really bad, same lights on the dash were on and messages on the control panel did not change or disapear. The car was still moving when the engine suddenly stopped working while I was driving it. Music was playing and all lights worked so I knew it wasn't the battery. This situation was so scary that I was afraid to drive my car. I did not want to cause an accident resulting in injury to myself, others or any fatality. I've always taken my car to service and to be fixed in Chevrolet. My car shook a little since 2020 and chevy guys don't know the reason. Total is about $2800 to get it fixed.

Last month the car started ti show me this errors stabili trak control and traction service control, I keep getting them driving on the highway, every road I drive, the steering wheal just becomes stiff and its hard to maneuver , the air condition turns off itself and the car has a big vibration , like there is an earthquake outside, I have been calling general motors to tell them about the problem but they are telling me there is nothing they can do. There are times when I get in the car trying to get to work and the car won't start, the car would show me the errors and would not clear for hours, it's a nightmare.

As I was on the highway, I was unable to pick up speed without feeling resistance! after awhile I couldn’t go past 25 mph and my car eventually gave out before I made it home. I had to call a tow to have them tow me to my park lot! a couple days went by and my car was able to drive through the parking and park in different spots. I am not sure what the problem may be but I just bought this car and it has been causing unsafe issues for about a year now! please help!.

I have an oil leak coming from the valve cover gasket ,,it is a brand new genuine cover and gasket so oil is falling on the drive belt which breaks pretty quickly while driving I heard that it might be an issue with the pcv check valve inside the manifold apparently many customers complaints about this issue and no recall yet.

Every year there’s always a issue with oil leakage resulting into smoke coming out of my car, another thing is my car starts to hesitate literally once a year. This has been happening since I purchased my car in February of 2015.

Due to onstar 2g sunsetting their services at the end of this year, all makes of general motors vehicles did not comply to any of the customers requests to upgrade their module to 4g services, although upon researching, all canadian gm vehicles did get the upgrade well over 7 years ago. This is well beyond a concern with gm and onstar customers. With the NHTSA as a safety liaison and protecting the consumer, if a module upgrade can be applied in a vehicle that is on the same assembly parts, platform, electrical components. . . And be denied from the united states? the NHTSA should realize that this will be frivolous law suits because of neglect and safety concerns with gm and onstar in the united states.

Unknown. When stopping then going to accelerate again the engine acts like it’s in nuetrual and revs the engine up then causing it to jerk forward. This happens at almost every stop.

The car cuts out and jerks (has no power) (no warning lights) when accelerating or staying at a steady speed with engine light coming on or flashing. I've reported to dealership. So far, don't know the cause of problem.

The car overheated out of nowhere. Oil busted out of the compartment it’s supposed to be held in and got all over my mechanical parts inside the vehicle. My car caught on fire from the bottom where the engine and transmission are. The car started rattling and giving me warnings to get out of the vehicle because the vehicle was unsafe. It gave me the warning that the engine is idle, engine locked up, and also an coolant issue. The car didn’t have issues before this. I literally had to jump out of the car with my family. The warning light for the engine and coolant came on. There hasn’t been in problems prior to this other than changing a sensor. The insurance was notified and don’t have a solution. We’re trying to figure out what to do because it’s not driveable. Going to contact chevy dealer or gm as well.

Real bad oil leak my oil been leaking for months and a intake manifold code p2076 I really need this problem fix. I done spend a lot of money getting this car repaired everytime I get this chevy Cruze out the shop something else wrongs I can’t out no more money into this car too many car problems I haven’t drove this car in 3 weeks because I was driving somewhere and white smoke started coming out the tailpipe bad somebody called the fire department and police on me that’s how bad the smoke was coming out the tailpipe mind you I had just got the car out the shop I had got code p0303 fix this car cost me alot of money I got alot of repairs done on this car.

The car is hesitating after stopping whether its a light or sign also has while in motion which almost got me hit! !t1here is also a burning smell at times! I have had it looked at within the month and they said it was a sensor , no-one seems to know what to do ! bou8ght this car from Honda in anderson indiana!! its had problems the whole time I've had it1 ill never buy another Cruze.

To whom this may concern, this vehicle has issues with stabiltrak/traction control. This vehicle has been serviced routinely throughout the time I have had it. This vehicle was brought in at the dealership upon receiving the letter for the recall, I do not think this was thoroughly inspected. It was under ten minutes, that I was told the vehicle didn't have a problem. In my opinion, this was totally incorrect. The problem persisted still to this day. Nobody reported this problem, which could be a major safety concern for my family and I. This will be the first investigation into this matter. If the dealership did say they thoroughly inspected it, why didn't they report this matter to you, which would be landers mcclarty Chevrolet, huntsville al. I have done major research and this matter is unacceptable. The dealership was completely in the wrong. None of this matter was handled correctly, why didn't I get any details or documentation. Why wasn't it reported?? I'm gonna continue to search for paperwork, and the exact dates which I took it there. I will be in contact with my lawyer, and get any paperwork and evidence reviewed. The stabiltrak light stays on, and caused me not to go into reverse. The steering completely went down and parking assist, as well as traction control is always on. This has been a complete disaster. I ask you with complete sincerity, to follow up. My family's life shouldn't be in jeopardy because of an improper investigation. This dealership will need to take full responsiblity. Keep in mind, that these are the exact issues that this vehicle was recalled for, the same engine which is the 1. 4 liter turbo, and the same model that has been recalled for this exact malfunction!.

We purchased a 2011 chevy cruz with less than 100k miles. In the 2 years we've had it we've replaced the transmission, oil cooler, and all the hoses. The furthest we've driven it is 400miles in a trip. We haven't taken it up mountains, and we keep up with maintenance.

Transmission fail, too much ignition leaking.

Vehicle was purchased in 2011 and has 135,000 miles on it. Body and interior is in great condition and I take care of the engine and powertrain for its scheduled maintenance. I have the documents to prove my statement. This vehicle has been nothing but a headache. I just wanted to notify you and warn any other person that may be thinking of buying a Cruze to not purchase. I was hoping also that I may have a recourse under the lemon law to recover some or all of the losses invested in trying to keep the vehicle in running condition. The transmission is currently malfunctioning and the turbo was also recently malfunctioning. Currently this vehicle is in a parking lot collecting dust. The cost to repair or replace is more than the value of the vehicle. Can you advise or help with a solution? it would be sad to see honest consumers invest their hard earned cash on a product that will last them for less then a decade.

Spilling and dripping oil collected in the oil pan near the hot engine appears to be associated with the engine or oil cooler. Burns and smells as if something may cause a fire.

Me and my kids were driving down the highway when my 2011 chevy cruise just lost power and my engine stopped working. . . It will not start up at all. Mechanic cant figure out why. I've got tons of sensors going out everytime I turn around and I am a mother of a disabled son. We were on at parkway going 65 to 60 mph. It could have been very bad.
