Engine losses power on the highway. Almost stumbling around to get power back. Have to add multiple pints of oil between oil changes.
My lighting has been messed up since I bought the car. All my lights randomly dim, my break lights flicker like there is an electrical problem. My turbo has something wrong with it, but no codes. The car doesn't accelerate like it's supposed to. All this occurs when moving. Breaks obviously whenever hit the breaks.
It's been one year and my chevy Cruze has overheated twice. The first time the thermostat was wrong along with the thermo pipe that needed to be replaced. And now similar issue is happening where my car smells funny, I turn the heat in and the car will start to over heat and never warm the car.
While driving on highway a message saying reduced engine power came on and vehicle would not accelerate. Also the service traction control light came on with it and service stabilitrak came on as well.
Engine light comes on and car will slow down and barely take off. Engine is responding to gas pedal but no power in low gear so takes off very slow nearly resulting in wreck. Two shops, including transmission shop, state its electronic problem including lack of communication. It happens from being stationary or in process of driving when it loses power suddenly. When engine light goes off it runs ok. Dangerous to drive as never know when it'll act up. Started about six months ago, and is intermittent.
No reimbursement for same issue, same error code. If I'm being told by different body shops that they continually see the same issue with chevy Cruze's, being the loss of turbo boost. Shouldn't it be a part of the recall for 2013&14 or at least be made a recall itself. Mine is a 2011 with the same error code read as the recall with 2013's. My turbo was replaced right before thanksgiving. Happy holidays smh!.
Direct impact with 1200 pound cow while driving on a state highway, the airbag did not deploy. Entire car engulfed in flames as the engine immediately started fire. Totalled. Why didn't the airbag deploy? serious injury. Serious safety issue. I have purchased 2 Cruze's because of the safety features. This is so not safe and so unacceptable.
The car engine has shut off twice in 2 weeks while making a right turn on an incline. I slowed down to make the turn/curve and then stepped on the gas and the car died. The dash and radio stay on, but no power to engine. No service lights stay lite on the dash. You have to turn the key off, put in park, open door so radio turns off, give a min and restart. The first time I was pulling off a side road onto a busy road, but I didn't do a complete stop because traffic was clear. I was going 10-15mph. The second time I was on a side road going about 25-30 mph. It was just a mildly sharp curve.
While driving the engine totally looses power and the entire car is shut off and comes to a stop. Lots of electrical messages show up, and sometimes the key cannot come out of ignition. After an hour, sometimes it will restart. I have had it towed three times to the dealer. At first they thought it was the negative battery cable, but its still has the problem. Starting to not be able to trust this car as its a hazard to drive not knowing when it will cut out and just stop with no power to even have windows roll up.
The engine starts shutting down while sitting at stop lights and has a strong oil smell.

My car is only at 91k miles, and my cylinder 3 is not compressing anymore, more than likely due to piston ring failure.
Smells like it's burning, smokes into the inside. It's been numerous times in the shop but it keeps doing the same. Electrical problems with the driver seat and lighting also.
The oil filter hausing is liquidating oil every time that I make a oil change.

Reporting an engine fire on Sunday July 23, 2017. The 2011 Cruze was totaled by the engine fire. The vehicle was stationary parked in front of my home. To my knowledge no mechanical problems. Lindsay Chevrolet of woodbridge, va put new front and rear brakes on my car in mid July also an oil change with a 27 point engine check. I do not have pictures on my computer. If you need pictures let me know and I would be happy to mail them to you.
In the last 4 months my tracking control, stability traction control, and reduce engine power light stays on. I have had knock censor replaced, value covers but nothing has worked. My car constantly cuts off in in the middle of traffic and three times on the freeway at 65 miles. The car is very unsafe and yet there are no recalls on my car.
Tamara recall transmission, valve cover, brake sensor, throttle sensor , this car has gave me problems after problems , every month it's literallg something new I have about 20 pages of receipts.
Bought this car used with 51k miles a month ago. Drove great the first week, after that loses powerupon acceleration and is slow to get up to speed. While driving just now, the car was losing power so I decided to hit the gas harder and instead of going faster the the stability track light came on. I am starting to wonder if I made a bad decision purchasing this car. It had trouble going up hill on the highway last wk. This car is too compact to have speed issues.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact called on behalf of her son. While driving 20 mph or less, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond. My 2011 chevy Cruze throws two codes cam shaft position sensor and crank shaft position sensor we've replace them twice engine still throws the code. My car when I back up jerks some times and and the taillights flicker. I'm getting tired of replacing these parts. It's been going on weeks and I've replaced them twice now.
I purchased a pre-owned 2011 chevy Cruze in August of 2016. In December, I was driving on the highway and my car started to jerk as I pushed on the gas and it wouldn't accelerate. I pull over and parked the car to see what was wrong. I restarted the car and put it in drive, but it wouldn't go forward; however, when I put the car in reverse, it moved. My mom called the dealership we bought it from to claim the lemon law, but their response was that they couldn't do anything about it because the car was older than 30 days. She was also told that the lemon law does not apply to used vehicles, so my dad had the car towed to Chevrolet. They said that the transmission was the issue. My issue is that I had this car for 4 months. Replacing or getting the transmission fixed costs more than the car is worth. I do not have the funds for this being that I am a college student, and I need this transportation. I can't trade this car in since it's in this condition. My other issue is that there is no recall for this malfunction in this particular vehicle. After doing some research on this issue, I realized that there a lot of people dealing with this same problem and others regarding the transmission. I believe there should be a recall on the transmission because this issue is extremely dangerous.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced an issue with the shifter not shifting and the vehicle not decelerating. In addition, the vehicle would not accelerate past 30 mph. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but diagnostic testing was not performed. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000. The VIN was not provided.
The car has a burning electrical smell. Sometimes we can smell the odor in the cabin, but mostly coming from the engine after we have finished driving the car and walk around the front of the car. The odor has been present since we purchased the car in November 2016.
This vehicle safety complaint is in regards to my 2011 Chevrolet Cruze lt, which was serviced at ourisman Chevrolet of bowie, a general motors (gm) authorized dealer, for the repair of my vehicle. I incurred charges for unwarranted maintenance repairs on the following dates September 26-October 5, 2016 ($134. 95 and $139. 07 (cost for a new battery)), April 26, 2016 (warranty covered repairs), April 11, 2016 ($590. 92), and April 14, 2015 ($382. 14) that never addressed the safety complaints I made, all of which were handled by service advisor buddy reio. On these dates, I took my vehicle to be serviced for experiencing hazardous issues with its electrical systems and reduced engine acceleration while I was driving between 40-55 miles per hour. Without warning, my vehicle¿s speed would decelerate (both on the highway and residential roads) and my car doors would begin to lock and unlock uncontrollably with error messages ¿service stabilitrac,¿ ¿service parking assist,¿ and ¿service airbag¿ displaying on my dashboard. After about 30 seconds of this condition, my car would resume normal functioning. I incurred $1,247. 08 in unwarranted repairs for my vehicle, which was never properly diagnosed, leading to my vehicle shutting down while I was driving it on October 22, 2016. On October 22, 2016 at 3:20 p. M. , while driving on a busy thoroughfare, my car decelerated and error messages displaying ¿service stabilitrac,¿ ¿service parking assist,¿ and ¿service airbag¿ showed. After approximately 30 seconds, the car began to shut down and I managed to steer it out of the way of oncoming traffic. I immediately contacted Chevrolet¿s roadside service and informed the representatives that my engine would not start and I was stuck on the side of the road.
I have been having several issues lately that are not covered under warranty with my car. Power train issues, stability issues, sensor issues. These issues have happened on and off and some have been fixed before and they keep getting worse. The car starts shaking really bad when I am driving. It does not feel safe.
Transmission jerks extremely hard. When air is on car fails to accelerate at all. Idles on its own, jumps gears always. Fuel system is bad, it chokes constantly and wont start some days. It vibrates extremely hard and I had it serviced 1 month ago for shaft case. This is the worst car ever!!!!!!! its a danger to drive it wont pick up speed and when the air is on it wont move at all. If still at a light, it will jerk extremely hard to where it jerks me. When in park it idles itself. If I'm entering onto the highway it wont pick up speed even if the air is not on. When I reverse and go back to park it jerks extremely hard. I hate this car!!! sometimes it doesn't want to stop.
Loosing antifreeze, constantly overheating and may have blown head gasket in motion and sitting still. I am very dissatisfied with the purchase of this car! it has been nothing but trouble and very costly buying antifreeze once a week at $20. 00 a jug for half and half. I hope and pray that this engine will be recalled!!!.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the odor of engine oil was present inside the cabin of the vehicle. Additionally, oil was leaking from the engine compartment onto the floor of the garage. The vehicle had been serviced on multiple occasions for the failure by an independent mechanic who replaced the oil pan and oil reservoir however, the failure persisted. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA campaign number: 12v288000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 100,000.
Car will slow to 2 mph with the warnings "low engine mode" and "service stabilitrack". Can be going any speed and this happens. Have had the car towed 3 times for this same problem. Each time they tell us it is another part that is defective. We have spent approximately $2,000 on repairs for this same issue. My main concern is that my 20 year old son who drives this vehicle is going to get killed. If this happens on a highway with a semi behind him, the semi will not be able to slow down to that speed that fast and will run right over him. There are numerous reports of this same issue on 2011-2015 Cruze vehicles that you can find anywhere on the internet (even on gm forum). I would like to know how many people have to die from this issue before a recall is made on these vehicles?.
