1 Clutch Broken problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2018

2012 cruz new from the dealer and never had an issue with my car other than a water pump only reg mat always praised how great my car was and it is the first new car I ever bought. My car has 69k miles on it and my warranty was 5yrs 100k my warranty was just up this past oct and Sunday my car wouldn't accelerate or shift and sounded horrible in reverse. I had my car towed to my work for diagnostics and there were issues with the trans so we tried to drive it to the dealer and it didnt make it so yet another tow. The dealer had to diagnose the car which was $125. 00 I got a call late afternoon the next day and was told the 3t and 5t wave / clutch plates broke in my car and they would need to replace them as well as the clutch, piston, seals, ect and the cost would be $3100. 00 please also keep in mind I owe $900 on the car, the service dept said we hope gm will pay for majority or most of the cost bc this shouldn't have happened. I was told that they would only cover 30% so out of pocket about $2200 I said that if its something that shouldn't have happened why would I have to pay so much I know I'm 5 months out warranty but im still under 100k miles I called gm and asked about good faith warranty and stated my situation. Two days later they and I was told that they will not help anymore with the cost, bc of the yr warranty, ive only bought one car from the dealer, and I did not take my car to the dealer for routine mat. . . . I told the rep that my dad who is a mechanic did my oil or my work bc I work at a repair shop and if you were me you would do the same and this rep told me " I don't go to the dealer I go to walmart!" I also asked about goodfaithwarranty and she stated "we dont do that on our vehicles" needless to say I am very disappointed all around trans dont go out on cars with 69k miles repairs were $2610. 00 and an additional $331. 00 for diag and towing.

2 Clutch Broken problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2013

The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the clutch failed and the transmission slipped gears. The contact also mentioned that steering the vehicle became difficult and a burning odor was smelled. In addition, the failure occurred three times and there was a transmission fluid leak. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that the fly wheel, clutch, and bearings would need to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.

3 Clutch Broken problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2012

My new 2012 chevy Cruze eco was purchased on 05/15/2012 and has approximately 8000 miles and the manual transmission clutch is already inoperative. The billy navarre Chevrolet dealership will not repair the vehicle under warranty stating that a gm field service rep has inspected the car and has determined that the clutch failure was due to operator abuse/misuse. In addition, the dealership states that the clutch is not covered under the factory warranty and subject to fair wear and tear although I purchased the gm extended warranty as well. Is it normal for a clutch to fail at 8000 miles? certainly not! the car has never been abused and has been operated within normal operating limits but resulting in the clutch disc being fused to the flywheel - as reported by the service department to me. The speculation is that the operator, my daughter, 'rides' the clutch and has caused the clutch to wear out prematurely and fusing the clutch to the flywheel. My daughter has never 'ridden' the clutch nor abused the vehicle as speculated but has driven the car in a safe and proper manner using normal operating procedures iaw the operator's manual. A burning smell was reported by my daughter to me and within a few days (10/06/12) the car would not go into gear and after several attempts would not shift at all. My daughter is the only operator of the vehicle. The car was towed to the dealership and within a week the service department reported to me that the transmission needed to be replaced but would not be covered under warranty. My only request has been and remains that the car be repaired or replaced under warranty at no cost to me as the problem is a defect induced problem and not due to operator abuse or misuse.
