Since June 2021 have had this car in to the mechanic 7 times for engine coolant system. Each time it has been replace. Just 2 weeks ago it started to buck while driving. No matter what speed I am at. There are times where I am at a red light and it acts like it wants to stall out. When I proceed to go from a red light there are times where it takes a few seconds before it actually starts to go while the gas pedal is pressed.
I just bought the car and it is over heating and the turbo is acting up high rpms and not shifting correctly and shakes at 60 mph.
I'm looking into purchasing a chevy Cruze 2013 lt from a friend. I am researching and noticing some issues and recalls. I was wondering if this statement is true. Could you let me know more information about this? thank you for your time. The issues I'm seeing are the turbocharge and coolant at the moment.
The car overheated constantly and was taken to a mechanic everytime. Mechanic tried a few things and to no avail. Warped head replaced and it continued to do it. Replaced the entire motor and the second motor now wont even start after it overheated. We had many people look at it and no one could figure out what the problem was. . Read more...
Thermostat housing has been replaced 4 times, it is still over heating and wont allow ac to work. That keeps the fan running nonstop. As soon as its replaced it burns out in 1 day.
With no warning my car started to overheat while traveling home from the eden rest stop in nc two weeks ago. I have replaced my thermostat and radiator/overflow cap. I never had any warning to let me know that my car was starting to overheat. My check engine light never came on! and my car just shut off on me when leaving work this afternoon in the middle of 5 o’clock traffic on eastchester dr in high point, nc. I noticed that I had no coolant and there was no sign of leaks anywhere!.
Vehicle is consistently overheating and needing replacement parts to prevent overheating. Sept 2019 chevy replaced the water outlet housing. June 2020 chevy replaced the water pump because car was overheating now the head gaskets are damaged and car is unuseable. Vehicle is consistently overheating every year and needed repairs. Vehicle does fit the criteria for 2013-2014 chevy Cruze recall, however the car does not have a turbo engine.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated the vehicle was overheating and suddenly stalling. The contact had to wait a while for the vehicle to cool down before being able to restart the vehicle to continue driving. The contact stated that the overheating alarm and idle engine chime was audible. The contact stated that the message to turn off the a/c was displayed even though the a/c was not activated. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who replaced the thermostat and 3 coolant temperature sensors and the housing. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 144,813.
Hi, I have had my car for a total of 8 years so far. It was bought used, in perfect condition in the beginning. Years passed and I have gained many problems down the road. First, the valve had to be replaced, spent a little under $1k, car worked well, until it started leaking coolant. Second, the car started to jerk back if you were passing at least 60mph. You go above 65-70, the car would jerk back to where it felt as if the whole bottom of the car fell off. You could press the gas pedal and it would barely go, it felt as if you were pushing the car with your own hands from the back, as if it lost power to move forward. Third, why does my coolant leak? why is it that I have to put coolant in it at least every other week? the fan is extremely loud as well, as if it's overheating.
The car keeps telling me it’s overheating but it is not and it’s leaking out antifreeze.
After many repairs, kept my car well maintained. I've had many issues with the thermostats (replaced over 5 times) replaced sensors multiple times, replaced hoses and belts according to manufacturers recommendation. Replaced the valve cover. I now have a blown head gasket. I never drove my car without coolant, car had not overheated but the head gasket blew.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, she noticed smoke coming out from underneath the hood of the vehicle. A message indicating that coolant was overheating was displayed. The contact veered to side of the road. The contact stated that her friend's father, an independent mechanic, met her on the side of the road and upon inspecting the hood, he noticed that coolant was leaking and the coolant hoses were fractured. The contact was able to drive to her residence, where her friend's father replaced the coolant hoses. However, the failure reoccurred three months later. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.
I bought this car approximately three months ago. It was a huge financial decision but one that had to be made for the safety of myself and my daughter. After doing much research there were no major mechanical recalls and the safety ratings were good so it seemed to be a reliable and safe choice. I was getting home one afternoon and when I put the car in park, smoke just started billowing out from under the hood. So I went to take a look and there was fluid leaked everywhere. At first I thought it was oil as I had just had my oil changed so I took it back to the mechanic for further inspection and he informed me it was the coolant outtake housing. He even said to me that they get so many cars like mine, chevy cruz’s, that come in with the same issue. I would also like to mention that when I bought the car it only had 62,000 miles and when this occurred it was at about 71,000. So I went online to do some research about the part and cost of labor and came across so many of the same complaints. There were even posts about this part on a discussion board on the gm website.
Complete engine failure whole driving under normal conditions. Vehicle had all old changes. Engine blown at 98452 miles.
Loss of power when driving.
Car is leaking oil and coolant. They are mixing and running into the engine. Thermostat housing needs replaced.
Coolant keeps having leaks after going to dealership to replace it. It had the same problem and dealer said it’s not covered now have to pay 800 dollars for same issue 5 months later. Coolant system not working might blow engine. Happens randomly when driving to warning lights come up and a lot of smoke starts coming out of car.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact coasted to the side of the road and stopped the vehicle. The contact stated restarted the vehicle after several attempts. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated there was white smoke coming from the exhaust. The contact stated that the failure had become a recurring failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the water pump failed again and was replaced; however, recently the water pump failed again. Additionally, the contact stated that there were electrical failures with the vehicle and the doors failed to lock as needed. The contact also stated that the steering wheel had locked up on several occasions. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Check-engine light comes on and stays; after repairs, it keeps flashing. "traction control" message comes on and stays on. The air conditioning system keeps warning to be turned off, and heats up the car when not turned off. The care drives and dies while driving. The transmission is not consistent, takes much more time to accelerate. Breaks and fan replaced after a year of purchased and about 1,500 dollars have just been spent in repairs and the car still gives a check-engine light, shaking and about to die. Presently not in use. The safety issues for me and my family are high. I recently had to drive it with safety lights on and below 25 miles/hr to and from the mechanic. I have taken the car before two mechanics and it is still not resolved. The car is available for inspection upon your recall.
The vehicle keeps going to a/c off due to vehicle running hot. I've gone to the dealer and various shops had the water pump, hoses, outlet housing, thermostat replaced. I still smell coolant leaking and burning off when I open the hood I see the engine and catalytic converter wet and drying off as the wetness evaporates; the smell stays inside the car. The effects of smelling coolant has to be toxic, has any studies been done on long term effects of smelling coolant? I spend a minimum of 3 hours a day in traffic. The problem started around 100k. I also have oil leaking on right axel and somewhere on the engine. I've noticed the1. 4l turbo has the same problems why are there recalls on the 1. 4l but not the 1. 8l? I'm paying out of pocket to get the same repairs done, if the vehicle is unsafe for the 1. 4l it should be unsafe for the 1. 8l.
The whole head shot off while driving. Now the car is making a farting noise when I accelerate or if u sit idle for longer than 15 mins. No oil leak but I’m using an additional $200 in oil between oil changes.
Countless oil leaks - replaced the valve cover /gasket and solenoids and countless other parts to stop the oil leak when it was coming from the intake manifold pvc system - I even replaced the turbocharger.

My car kept saying "ac off due to high engine heat" even though my car was not reading hot while driving down the road. Then the car would start smoking and blow a hose and liquid would be everywhere. I had a brand new thermostate put in and it still does the same thing. Also a previous recall about how the tire could seprate "tire rod" is still doing it again. I had 3 transaxle seals and a transmission seal, a motor blower for the a. C all replaced within the first year (still under warrenty) of owning this car. The stability track will show up on the screen. But I'm tired of worrying when my car will want to just randomly blow hoses and start smoking and leave me stranded on the side of the road! I bought a cheap car to get me to work and my Cruze is sitting!!.
Message on screen comes up "a/c off due to high engine temp" a few minutes after driving down the road. A/c shuts off temp goes down and everything is fine then you can turn the air back on and it runs fine. Can not diagnose the problem when the problem doesn't last long enough for anyone to see.
The sensor stated turn off the ac due the engine temperature , the motor fan runs as if the car is running hot.
Vihicle was on freeway and heated up so bad quickly and had to pull over. . Looses coolant constantly. Part needs to be changed every couple of months. It is hard to get the part in my area and neighbor cities because it happens to a lot to different people with the same car. I am constantly fixing lines and replacing coolant every week.
The stability control goes off due to a air leak in the air valve causing lose of steering power which has occured while driving the steering wheel becomes impossible to steer when this happens.
The catalytic converter has failed twice in this car, and the second time is out of warranty. Both failures occurred within approximately 90k miles. The cost to replace this is about $1200. This can be financially devastating to some families.
Needs brand new engine. Hard time accelerating. Shop says rods inside engine are being knocked around. Only 120,000 miles. Hard to acceleration at any time. Engine light is signaled.
My check engine keeps going on and off and when comes on give out power little by little till my engine reduce power comes up and gives out and almost crashed on freeway serval times.
Driving last night from work to home at i96 westbound (livonia-mi) around 7pm, I started getting messages in my cluster such as service stabilitrak, service traction control and engine power is reduced. Just suddenly my car lost all the power and throttle when I was travelling in a highway around 70 mph on the second fastest lane. It was very scary and dangerous situation once my throttle was complete unresponsive and could find myself at the middle of the highway at 5mph . My instinct was to turn on the hazard lights and try to move the car to the slowest lane as safe as possible. I feel lucky that no one hit me in the back and I consider that I was lucky to have this problem at this time of the evening. Luckily I was able to take the exit 173b to levan rd and from there park the car to evaluate it. I could not find any visible defect either internally or on engine compartment. I turned off the engine and on several times and still had the same cluster messages and derated power. I was still able to drive the car safely to the parking lot of madonna university looking for a safer place to wait for my insurance company. When waiting for the aaa operator I was able to re-start the car with no display message but only with the engine check light on. I drove the car in the parking lot and noticed the car seemed to be ok. Once on that time I was still waiting for the aaa operator I decided to take levan rd northbound and I was able to safe arrive home. Checking the symptom I had in google and youtube I learned about the problem with the negative battery cable which is already known by NHTSA and gm. I hope my incidence can be investigated and a decision for recall be taken. I don't see any difference to what experienced with the ignition switch topic therefore this issue should be considered as potential recall. Please feel free to contact me at any time for more details.
Could push the gas pedal to the floor and it won't accelerate. Pressing the gas with normal pressure makes the rpm's increase very quickly and the car either won't accelerate or will accelerate very slowly. The engine light was on previously for two days and then shut off and hasn't come back on yet. I think it is the turbo. Unknown cause.
Continual issues with antifreeze leaking - even after multiple services from dealer.
A/c off due to extreme high engine temperature cam on a couple of weeks ago, I took it in and it was fixed supposedly. A week later it came on again. I have taken it in 4 time now. As of today it is still in the shop. They had to call the manufacturer for some help and still, even a new computer and the light still comes on. This is getting to be too much. I have to go to work.
