Transmission won’t shift into gear while driving and the brakes won’t engage when this happens, this will cause a wreck and hurt someone, the codes are showing po700 tcm code.
My 2014 chevy Cruze has been having some major safety issues as of late. The powertrain has been one of the major components in this system that has failed. The engine has overheated 3 times in the last 3 months causing many safety concerns to others on the road as well as myself due to having to randomly pull over on the side of the road on the busy highway. The car has jolted many times due to losing power and causing my neck to have a severe pinched nerve. These issues are related mainly to the fluid cooling/management systems and related hoses. It is available for inspection upon request. The problem has been confirmed by independent service center. The engine light repeatedly goes on and off causing many issues to the car daily.
Well like everyone car has this nasty cloud of black grey smoke turns out I have a faulty catalytic converter. Not to mention the constant over heating. The change of the water pump thermostat multiple times. This is a nightmare. I drive with one eye on the road and the other on my needle gauge. I drive with my 2 kids and my biggest fear is catching fire. We inhale the smoke as we drive. Unfortunately this life is taking a toll on me. The stress of this car and always needing something is terrible. Get a new car right. Yeah if life was simple we wouldnt be struggling daily breathing in all thise chemicals.
Was parked on a slight incline with the car completely off and keys out of ignition. My daughter, her cousin and I exited the car and were walking in front of it. As we got in front of it my car made a sound like it was about to start. The headlights came on and the entire vehicle jerked forward a bit. It almost hit us.
Various parts of the cooling system have failed on this vehicle multiple times even after under warranty repair (twice in as many years beginning in 2018) at a licensed dealership; and again several more times since, most recently this week. At no point did a Chevrolet/gm employee/representative alert me of known common issues, and they even incredulously asked me who did prior repairs when it was indeed, their dealership. In all, nearly every hose been replaced at least three times, reservoir tanks replaced, and thousands of dollars outside of warranty repairs have occurred on the same components. The vehicle has completely blown hoses while driving and filled the cabin with burning, noxious, and sweet smells, and fogged up the windshield with vaporized fluids. Coolant certainly leaks and works it way into the cabin. I was not made aware of any known issues though this appears it is a common problem with this vehicle. Issues with the battery/powder have also plagued this vehicle. It results in the "stabilitrak" failing randomly, electrical issues that causing power failures and disruptions to dashboard lights and components, sound system (including from the radio, to the sounds of the blinker and alerts), and engine power getting cut off. These incidents started occurring after about a year of purchasing the vehicle (certified used) in 2017. It appears the previous owner also faced these problems. I do not currently have paperwork of the repairs but they can be obtained. Date given is of the most recent incident with the first instance occurring in 2018. I also believe this vehicle may be a victim of the airbag defect, causing a possibly premature deployment of the side airs bags only during a front tire collision. Plastic pieces broke off and caused injuries to my scalp and shoulder, though the recall would not be issued for at least 2 years.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the door locks were opening and closing independently. The contact stated that the instrument cluster was also flashing several unknown warning lights. The contact stated that the heater and the a/c were also functioning independently. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent at first but became a constant failure. Additionally, the contact stated that the transmission occasionally slipped out of gear, almost causing the vehicle to stall, making the steering wheel difficult to turn. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The contact replaced the 12-volt battery and the fuse box; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 177,000.
The car would randomly stop working while driving. One of the times it stopped, it stopped while driving on the freeway.
My car often loses power unexpectedly in the middle of a turn in an intersection and once while exiting a busy road. Twice it has died upon arrival at destinations and yet the battery has indicated when tested as fully charged. The key indicator is the radio system turns off for a second or two and then automatically restarts and the car with it. When this occurs the car is unable to be driven as the wheel will not turn. I have informed the local chevy dealership near me and test was done with no error codes reported. What I have had to do is remove the battery cable and replace it and it seems to make the car work for a little longer until it starts the process again with the radio. I had work done to repair the window motor and that is when I first notified chevy (I will have to locate the date). I have given permission for my friend to drive the car and he has seen this occur with the radio but did not notice if the car shut down.
For about a year now my 2014 chevy Cruze’s steering wheel will lock up for a few seconds while I am driving (at speeds up to 80mph) - which is extremely dangerous. When this happens, several lights will then pop up on my dashboard and messages are shown saying “service power steering” “service traction control”. The radio turns off, the lights inside the car turn off, and the back up camera stops working. The engine light has been on and will not go off. I have already replaced the transmission and the starter as well as the fuel pump. I was told by my mechanic to just get rid of the car as it has way too many issues to even attempt repairing. I once ran over a curb and popped a tire when the steering wheel locked up. Every time I start my car there is a message that say “roll down driver window and roll back up” which I do not understand. This seems to be happening to several people. I am very disappointed and scared to be driving this car.
Car is hard to start after getting gas and transmission does not operate correctly to get up to speed from an intersection the engine revs to 7000 rpm to get up to 40mph and several times coming close to being run into at times transmission did not work put shifter in drive accelerate and nothing suddenly transmission engaged and the car bolted forward.
When parked and left to idle after driving for a while, the traction light comes on and the dash displays service stabilitrak and traction control. After this happens the car seems to lose power and sometimes feels as if the breaks are catching and letting go.
I have a code p0420 code and engine light keeps comeback on I had the catalytic converter replaced, and everything inspected by friendship Chevrolet in forestcity nc 28043. Kept my car for two weeks and still couldn’t find the problem of this p0420 code so my engine light stays on.
My vehicle takes too long to accelerate. The engine light came on. When checked the code that came up was the turbo.
Several times the steering wheel mechanism locked up while driving and I was unable to steer it momentarily. During that time several warning lamp indicators intermittently illuminated, and the radio shorted, and the instrument panel flashed or blacked out. Also, there is a coolant leak. I have the vehicle at the dealership repair center and they haven’t reproduced the above problems, but did find a problem with a engine coolant leak from the water pump and a radiator hose in which they are repairing.
Unknown, all I am aware of is that a large rock was on the highway and the vehicle infront of me kicked it up, and then my own tires kicked it up and caused issues with the catalytic converter.
Turbochargers are very known to go out or lag, causing vehicle to not go be able to up to speed , or suddenly drop speed on highway.
Getting code p0299 turbocharger underbost. The turbo charger was found to have a crack in the housing. When the car had 45,000 miles it the oild feed line exploded and had to get replaced, this was about 2 years ago when the oil feed hose had to get replace. Now the Cruze has a code of p0299 and the car is under powered.
Faulty turbocharger, multiple owners that I spoke to have replaced their turbocharger twice only to know that it keeps failing. The turbocharger ruined my catalytic converter which had to be replace du to a crack in the turbocharger.
Common issue where an underboost even happens due to crack in turbo or failed wastegate, when on highway can cause an accident when suddenly unable to maintain highway speeds, also negatibe battery cable has common issue which reduces voltage pass through causing traction control and stabil-track issues which can cause loss of control of vehicle in hazardous conditions.
I was sitting at a red light and my vehicle began to move forward with my foot on the brake. The vehicle began to increase in rpm's like I was pushing on the accelerator but I was not!! later that day I went to the gm dealer to see what they could find and didn't find anything cause the computer had reset since I had shut the car off. Two days later the car did the exact same thing so I immediately drove to the car dealer. Told them how dangerous that was and I couldn't believe the car was acting like I was giving it more gas when I wasn't!! they hooked it up to the computer and found the problem this time. It had to do with a crack in my pollution canister. With that crack my computer thought my car needed more gas and would give it more gas. I can't believe they let a computer program give your car more gas and you have no control of it and without warning. The first time it did it I was not prepared for it and when the computer gave my car more gas it began to move into the intersection and almost caused a horrible accident. Since the dealer replaced the pollution canister I have not had any problems. I have warned everyone I know about what happened and to be prepared for it. It just amazes me that more people haven't been seriously hurt by this! hopefully that crack that caused my problems doesn't happen to anyone else!!.
Every summer the same problems occur. When driving upwards on an incline street the car loses all power. Pumping the gas gets it restarted very slowly. Also, in hot weather, when attempting to merge onto a highway the car will not accelerate properly fo a few seconds. The dealer's tech claims it is a design problem and there is nothing the dealer can do to fix the problem.
Ever since owning the Cruze, we've had nothing but engine issues. First the turbo went out a month after purchasing the car. Two thermostats and a complete oil flush. The engine blew at 104,023 miles. The car was flashing engine light and stabiltract light. The car since owning has made a very loud ticking noise. The car also had a hard time maintaining speed. Acceleration and deceleration. This happened any time the vehicle speed was over 30mph.
I had my stabilitrak and traction control lights and my check engine light come on my vehicle while driving down a normal city road in sunlight on a clear warm day and my vehicle started idling very roughly while driving and I was right by autozone so they ran codes and found out it said knock sensor and misfire. Well I drove it home 5 mins down the street and park it. Well I take it to my mechanic the following morning and he does a diagnostic and piston check and turns out my spark plug burned so bad it was burned away where the l hook is. And found out that it broke in my combustion chamber somewhere . Now I have to get this all fixed and its costing a few thousand dollars.
No warning turbo failure that cases vehicle to lose power suddenly I was on freeway when engine light came on and a engine power reduced warning came on went to auto zone and they said it was a p0299 have seen a lot of info on the internet net saying that the turbo has gone out this is bad when your at freeway speeds.
Acceleration notably sluggish, taken to dealership for concern 3 years ago with complaints and was told there were no issues. Took car back to dealership this year due to check engine code. Turbo engine defective, going to cost $2200 to repair. Under $60,000 mile power train but just hit the 5 year warranty 2 days prior to calling dealership and gm. Dealership unwilling to offer financial assistance due to missing problem during original complaints 3 years ago. Took car to another dealership, which found additional $2000 in repairs that would need to take place in order for turbo repair to be effective. Car is not safe to drive, with likelihood it would break down in 10 min to multiple leaks and broken parts original dealership missed and failed to discuss. Car now costs $3400 to repair , gm only willing to help with $600. Car too expensive to repair and too dangerous to drive.
The turbo charger is known for going out. This can cause loss of power- even on highways. My turbo lost power on the highway, causing my speed to drop down to 50 mph. I am in a lot of chevy Cruze forums and this is the main complaint. Your speed can be normal and then all of a sudden just drop down to barely anything. This could cause someone to rear-end you.

My vehicle for the last year has been having some engine issues where it will lock up on me I can't get my key out of the ignition and all the lights will start going off saying it needs service and then it will stop and go back to the regular odometer. I've kept up with my oil changes I've kept up with any service that needs to be done on my vehicle but today my engine completely shut down when I started to run my air conditioning. Usually I can get under the hood and wiggle some wires and then things will go back to the way that it was but lately my car has been shutting off on me while I'm driving and I had a service appointment for next week to go and see a professional to get under the hood to see what was going on I figured it was probably just another oil change it is about that time, but I was on my way to a friend's wedding and I had to stop and when I stop my car did not cut back on I pop the hood and wiggled some wires like I usually do but there was no activity whatsoever underneath the hood. I started thinking to myself maybe I should put some oil in it but I don't want to ruin my engine and I started thinking maybe I need some antifreeze but again and I'm not a mechanic so I don't want to assume and then do something to make things a lot worse but today my engine completely shut down on me and I had to wait in the heat for over an hour to get a jump.
I was checking a lot of the stats online for the 2014 chevy Cruze and there were already reports out safety reports that there were some issues with the vehicles ignition and power steering and there were numbers and codes and I'm a bit upset because they sold me this vehicle knowing that there was some things that were wrong with the vehicle and that could have been my safety at risk while I'm driving on the road and the engine just shuts down the way it's been doing.
Vehicle may jerk violently during DE-acceleration from expressway speeds. This condition may result in loss of control - especially during winter/ice like road conditions. To duplicate the issue: 1 - operate automatic transmission for at least 40 minutes at expressway speeds of approx 70mph 2 - when exiting expressway ramp the vehicle will downshift. 3 - sometimes during down shifting - there is a lurch or impact like feeling so intense that the driver may believe they were rear ended by another vehicle. This matter was brought to the attempt of gm dealers and gm corporate and they have failed to resolve the issue. Dealer 1 response was similar to "it's your driving habits" and "we reset the computer so it can re-learn how you drive". This failed to resolve issue. Dealer 2 response - we can duplicate the issue - then later we can't duplicate the issue. Dealer also advised they emailed gm for additional support. Gm states they never received the email. Vehicle has spent greater than 30 days in the shop for the transmission like issues. As a firefighter - it is my professional opinion that this condition may result in substantial harm to the driver or occupants of vehicle if this condition happens while operating the motor vehicle on ice or snow and possibly rain like conditions. Where it is my belief that such injury could result in death or grave bodily injury. This issue has happened on/off since 01/01/2019 from 68k miles to current miles of 98k. Gm/dealers have indicated that all vehicle software is up to date and there are no engine codes.
Problem no. 1, my Cruze has lost power, the heater puts out cold air, the radiator is losing fluid, the engine has started to over heat, and there is wet spot under the exhaust pipe when I idle the engine! that means my car has ether a blowen head gasket or cracked head! the car has less then 85,000 miles and if the head is cracked, I think I know why because gm decked the block the short-way center out to the ends! witch can leave a valley in the center of the block! they made the same mistake with the grand am quad-4! the head all cracked between cylinders 2 and 3 because the block wasn't decked square! I have to take it to the dealer on sat 12/29/18 wish someone would check the block, I know the dealer will try to blame my and to make me pay for some or all of it, even though it is sill under warranty! problem no. 2, I purchased a new chevy Cruze eco with a manual transmission 4 years ago, I got it because I wanted a high mpg car and I have been driving standard transmission since I started driving and I knew I could better mileage then rated (65. 5 mpg my best score!), but the shifter has to much slop in it, I had a cutlass with a hurst shifter that was 16 inches tall and used that had less slop! I have complained to dealer about it since the day I got car! three times I have put the transmission in both first and third gear at the same time! I can't tell you how many time I have missed the shift while still holding all the way in position! if I am in a hurry I can't find the gear at all! problem no. 3, the hydraulic throw-out bearing is slushy and slow. Because the master-cylinder and feed-line is to small! I am a fast shifter, and I can out shift the clutch! that is bad because the pressure plate doesn't close fast enough it causes excess ware and burning of the clutch!.
Stabilitrak vendor keeps coming on. When I'm driving and make a turn, my car seems as if it's gliding. My breaks skip, especially when hitting a bump and they act as if they don't want to stop. My car cuts on and off in traffic, I've almost died several times while turnning. Completely shuts off, steering wheel locks up and all. My car is now wrecked due to these defects. It was raining, I was turning, car got to gliding and sliding, breaks went out and my car lost control! I almost flipped! I just bought the car! pictures in my phone.
60,000 miles the transmission lines started leaking,at 61,000 miles a head gasket went out. It was in my driveway when I noticed everything.
Vehicle was taken into gm dealer (larkin-cobb) Chevrolet because it was leaking coolant. Had to add coolant to reservoir at least once a week. Dealer found a small valve dripping on the engine and replaced it. The vehicle was under remaining powertrain warranty at the time of complaint/issue. The vehicle continued to leak after said repair and was brought back to dealer 2 more times and dye test was done and they said they could not find the problem. On the third time the vehicle was taken back again with the same issue. . Loss of coolant. The dealer and gm warranty now want to charge me for cylinder head removal and head gasket replacement. I contended that the car was under warranty at the time of initial repair and the issue was not resolved and should still be fixed under powertrain warranty. Gm warranty rep said no. . . The "date" had expired. Now I have no choice but to pay for repairs that should have been covered under powertrain warranty. . And gm wont "own" up to its warranty. Cant just take the vehicle back because it was setting off "high temperature" code when at idle and also moving. After researching. . These Chevrolet Cruzes have a very bad history of cooling problems. . . Including water pump, turbo seals, and blown head gaskets. Gm should honor thier warrantys and fix the engine and cooling problems with this car. In my opinion, any cooling problem should be fixed because it is badly engineered.
