general problems of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Dashboard shows service passenger air bag. Yes available for inspection passenger safety at risk. Not confirmed by dealer has not been inspected.

My passenger airbag doesn't pick up when someone is sitting in it and says service airbag. Chevrolet had recalls on them but not in my state. Now no one has to be in the seat and it will flash service airbag and the light on the dash stays on. I can't afford to fix it myself and think Chevrolet is responsible for the fix.

Passenger seat airbag is malfunctioning. It won't also sense that a passenger is seating in the seat. I am referring to a full grown adult and not a young child, so weight is not an issue and it should sense someone occupying the seat. The airbag will turn off and on while driving with the passenger seat occupied. When this happens, the service airbag system message comes across the dash as well as the red airbag light. This is a very serious safety issue that needs to be looked into. A passenger could get seriously injured or possibly die in the event of an accident, as the airbag won't deploy. First noticed the issue a few months ago and it seems to be happening more frequently.

Keys constantly stuck in the ignition. The air bag always turns on and off. Now, there's gas leaking somewhere and you can smell it well after the cars off. I think it may be the fuel pump, which is very pricey. All these were recalled in the past but none of them included my car. ?? ??.

The airbag on the passenger side of my 2007 Chevrolet Equinox LS. Has never worked correctly. I purchase my 2007 Chevrolet Equinox LS coming up on 2 year's ago. Since I purchased my car the passenger side air bag has never worked correctly. Sometimes it would turn on maybe 5% of the time I had a passenge. The 95% it doesn't come on and says service air bag. Now the service air bag is staying on. Chevrolet had a big recall on the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox for 2 or 3 problems with the passenger air bag. I can not afford to pay for this myself. I feel Chevrolet should pay for the fix. I am scared to drive my Equinox because I don't know if it is going to deploy while I'm driving. I had reported this on kkb more then once. The passenger seat airbag does not turn on when a passenger is sitting in the seat. Sometimes it will turn on and off when someone is sitting in the passenger seat.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph both the front and rear driver and passenger side curtain air bags erroneously deployed. I don't understand the my car has no recall, it is a 2007 chevy Equinox, and it looks to me that there are 4 recalls for 2007 chevy Equinox. My car has a service airbag message that comes up, and it has failed safety due to this message. I am reading the recall, and it states that it needs to reprogram the seat's electronic control unit. I brought to a shop, and that is exactly what the mechanic said. That I would need to take it to the dealer to have the airbag computer reprogrammed. I need this done with no expense to me.

Takata recall. On March 29th 2015 I was involved in a auto accident. As a result of that accident, I suffered a broken wrist, broken jaw, and the loss of my left eye. All of these injuries were the result of my vehicles airbag system. In the accident, none of my windows were broken, there were no loose items in the vehicle. The only thing in the vehicle that hit me was the airbag and its is the only thing which had blood on it in the vehicle. I was wearing my seatbelt at the time of the accident. I was driving down the highway (atlantic city expressway) when a turnpike commission vehicle made a u-turn and turned up in front of me leading to the accident. My vehicle was traveling on a flat highway at night, on a straight section of road at that time. I was then trapped inside my vehicle for an hour until rescue workers had to cut me out so that I could be flown to the nearest trauma unit. My year vehicle is also the same year that all other chevy vehicles (avalanche, silverado ld/hd, tahoe, and suburbon) on the recall started which is 2007. My chevy Equinox which is also in their SUV / truck lineup is no different from those and used the same airbag, takata.

Good morning, I am writing from guatemala city, guatemala c. A. I bought, from the local dealer, cofi�o stahl, the Equinox 2007 on June 2007. Approximately 5 years ago my vehicle showed an airbag system � passenger sensing problem, which was overlooked by the dealer, even though they had my car on their workshops at least twice a year since 2008 for maintenance and oil change. Recently I found on the web the fmvss noncompliance recall, bulletin 07174 dated August 2007, which clearly indicates that the problem of my vehicle is due to a gm safety recall. Having handed the bulletin to the local gm dealer, they reluctantly performed the service procedure as indicated, however the problem was not solved and they are not willing to pursue with the solution at no charge, neither will they receive my car as partial payment for another vehicle. I took the liberty of writing to you in the hope to find a solution, since now I am stuck with a car that the dealer would not receive and I cannot sell if the problem is not solved. When a passenger is in the seat the air bag is off a lot of the time just like gm recall #07174 NHTSA id # 07v344000. Back when it started dealer said it would be hard to find the problem now they say there is no current recall on this car.

I have a 2007 chevy Equinox that I purchased 2nd hand. The passenger air-bag would not engage (it had an x through it) when my wife sat in the seat. I took it to my mechanic who suggested that I try putting a cushion on the seat. I bought a 1" thick cushion and the air-bag light has worked (indicating that the air-bag is engaged) every time since. A simple fix to a potentially life-threatening problem!.

Even though my VIN does not come up as having an issue with the passenger air bag detector in my seat, it does not detect when someone is sitting in the seat and will not come on.

I had 2 chevy Equinox 2007 model, loaded. First vehicle repurchased due to multiple episodes of stabilitrak failure, turn signals quit working, radio problems, passenger system airbag not working, and finally failure of main airbag system. Given exact twin of first car, as thought that car was just a lemon. 2nd Equinox had 2 episodes of stabilitrak failure, and a new steering column placed, and then had total system failure of the steering, brakes, gas, stabilitrak, and airbag system while driving the vehicle. I had absolutely no control over any of these systems! you could turn my steering wheel 360 degrees, and the wheels never moved, the brakes didn't work, the gas didn't work, and all alarms were going off that the systems, including the airbags were not working. Luckily, no one was injured as I had just begun making a turn into roadway and all vehicles coming at me both ways were able to swerve, and the car was going slow enough and over a slight incline that it rolled to a stop just before hitting a steel light post. This car was also repurchased. Something is very wrong in the engineering of this vehicle and I am concerned for all the other people owning/driving this vehicle.

The passenger air bag only comes on now & then. My vehicle has been to the garage numerous times. I've explained what happens. Also have issue with wipes work, then not, blinkers work then not, blinkers double click. Radio gets real loud sometimes, beeps when door open real loud. Have replaced 3 batteries & two starters. But everytime in garage, hear "nothing wrong". I don't feel safe driving my car. I'm afraid if I get in accident my air bag wont work. All this started six months after bought car.
