Passenger airbag light shows not on all the time-with or without passenger in seat. Message to service airbags on all the time. Now seatbelt light is flashing even when in use. Service stabiltrack light comes on and off. Reading all the other comments I see this is a common complaint. Recently had my car in to replace fuel pump that was a recall for others but a "special repair" for my car. When I have a passenger in the seat the airbag never comes on and the airbag light stays on and tells me it needs service. Also all my gauges are all out of wack not sure if it is a recall or not once I hit 100,000 miles all these things came about. Also there was a recall on the fuel system and at the time I did not have a problem as of yet, on 9/29/15 I then smelled the gas and called mk smith Chevrolet to see if there were any recalls on this and they told me no, so I did take it somewhere else to be fixed due to it being cheaper for me and got it fixed and paid $633. 60. I have document for that. Now my key in the ignition does not come out and I hear a clicking noise by the ignition I'm not sure if that as well is a recall on the Equinox 2007. Please let me know if any of these problems are recalls on my vehicle. I just have read all these other complaints on the same issues on the Equinox 2007.

13 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

A few months ago, I took my car into the dealer to diagnose a check airbag light. $122 later, my vehicle was found to have a "faulty passenger presence module. " I was quoted over $1000 in repairs and given no other options. I declined the repairs in lieu of confirming with an independent mechanic as I have had issues with that service department before regarding a faulty fuel system (which was recalled and I was not informed). My independent mechanic confirmed the passenger sensing unit was not working properly and after further investigation, I found that this part (much like the debacle with my fuel pump) was also a recalled. I am referring to NHTSA campaign#07v344000. My VIN# is included within the designated VIN breaking points; however, it does not qualify individually. I find this infuriating. If the part is known to be faulty, and it's the same part placed into pontiac/chevy vehicles then why are only some of these faulty parts included in the recall???? this was the same situation with my faulty fuel pump, in which I paid cash for the part and repairs and then 6 months later received a letter from gm stating my VIN# was now included. I phoned the dealer and gm directly and they offered me no options other than pay $611 for the part and estimated another $500 in labor. I have found on numerous gm forums that this issue with the ppm is very common with 2007-2009 pontiac and chevy vehicles with those owners getting the same excuse from gm and no recall coverage. I am hoping that in the future someone from the NHTSA will look into this campaign and expand the vehicles involved as it seems to be a dealer/part issue and affects the overall safety of the vehicle.

17 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2015

Over the past few days, my stabilitrak light has come on and off while driving or just sitting in the car. Pulling into my driveway today I noticed that the light came back on for the stabilitrak. I proceeded to drive and then suddenly it became increasing hard to maneuver my steering wheel almost to the point where it felt as if it had locked up on me. I was able to drive the car back home but as I was driving I notice my air bag light came on and will not go off at all. After making it back to into my driveway I cut off the ignition waited a few minutes and turned the car back on to see if this would help either of the problems but to no avail. I have now taken the car to my local Chevrolet dealer and they have informed me that they have sen this issue with a number of Equinox and it is indeed an issue my stabilitrak.

24 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2014

The ignition locked up. It continues to jam up sometimes at unpredictable times. On this morning the signal for service air bag lit up. I continued driving and after a few minutes it turned off. I took the vehicle into my local dealer (james wood) on March 11, 2014, where I was informed the air bag may not function if I am in an accident. The service air bag light has continued to light up more frequently. Presently it turns on almost every day or every 2 days. Concerned the air bag will not work when it is needed. I realize that as the owner of the vehicle I am responsible for the maintenance of the car on parts that are used and worn, but in this case, the malfunction of an integral part of the vehicle associated to the safety and performance of the vehicle should be a standard functioning part that should work throughout the life of the vehicle.

27 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2013

Whenever the front passenger seat is occupied, the driver should always check the airbag indicator to see if the airbag is on or off. If it is not correct for the situation, the passenger should be moved to a different seat. This can increase the risk of injury to a seat occupant during certain crash conditions. Nhtsa campaign id number: 07v344000 my front passenger airbag says that it is turned off even when I am sitting in passanger seat, this has gone on for several months now. It says "service air bag soon" I did some research on the vehicle and problem and it says that this is a recall on the chevy Equinox. I call Chevrolet and they said that my VIN does not match any current recalls. Thank you.

28 Air Bag Light On problem

29 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2013

The passenger air bag light on the dashboard went from an "on" to "off" status while the vehicle was in drive with an adult passenger aboard and the seatbelt fastened. We had the vehicle at the dealer, bob fisher Chevrolet, reading, PA, for an inspection and oil change - and also reported this instance. My wife was called and told there was no recall effecting our VIN. Also that it would not react as described "at that time". Reference gm notice #07174 dated Aug 22, 2007. The dealer stated that as our VIN was not in the "range recalled" that they would not be able to properly fix the problem as gm would not reimburse them. So, what does constitute gm's and the dealers responsibilities when there is some sort of obvious safety problem?.

30 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2012

I've had my Equinox for about 5 years now. The service air bag light came on and constantly been on for the past several weeks. Took it to the dealership and said it would cost about $850. 00 to replace the passenger presence sensor. Had them run a report to change for open campaigns or recalls and there wasn't one for my car. But, with all the complaints I've read online, I strongly believe a recall needs to done. The light did come on intermittently since I bought in may 2007 but I thought it was a loose fuse. Ridiculous!.

31 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2012

Vehicle computer says, "service air bag soon". Air bag light comes on even when it is occupied by an adult. When the vehicle is started it says the passenger air bag is off even with an adult passenger. The airbag turns off randomly for the passenger side.

32 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2012

My airbag light came on in my vehicle. I didn't think anything of it because all of my onstar diagnostics stated everything was ok. I brought the vehicle in to the dealership to get a dome light and rear wiper motor replaced and to get a state inspection. My vehicle failed inspection due to the failed passenger presence module. Although the part is recalled on other 2007 chevy Equinoxes, it has not been recalled on my vehicle. I value the safety of my family, but to charge $975 for a part (labor not included) that was recalled on the same make/model is extremely excessive.

33 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2012

The passenger seat airbag light goes back and forth between on and not on when someone is sitting in the seat. Sometimes it works fine for an extended amount of time. Leaning to get something in the back seat can trigger it to go off and stay off.

34 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2011

I have not had an accident, so the above date, mileage and speed are estimates. While traveling down the highway, the service airbag light came on. The passenger airbag light also went off. It later came back on. My wife was sitting in the passenger seat at the time. Any time we go somewhere, this happens numerous times. I feel this is a defect in the sensor under the seat cushion in the passenger seat. I have noticed that the NHTSA has a recall on 437 units for this problem and your campaign # is 07v34400. According to the man named rob I spoke with at gm, my vehicle was not included in that recall. I feel this is a very serious problem and don't feel like my wife or either one of my children would be protected in the event of an accident where the airbag needs to deploy. It may not due to this defective sensor. I would like to know if you can offer any assistance in getting this taken care of without me having to pay for it. I am on disability income and trying to support a family of four leaves no money for such things. I feel like gm should have to cover this, since it's a defect on their part, and not mine. Is there any way you could add my vehicle to the recall now that I've made you aware of it and given you the VIN #? we're planning a 1,500 mile round trip on the 23rd of June to travel to our church convention and would like to have this problem rectified before making the trip, if at all possible. Thanks for your time and attention.

35 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2011

About 2 years ago I took my car into the local chevy dealership and had the sensor changed for the passanger air bag. A few weeks after they changed the sensor the problem returned. It would not turn the air bag on even when a full grown adult was sitting in the seat. It didn't happen all of the time so when I took it back to the dealer and the said they couldn't replicate the problem. After taking it back about 4 times and them never being able to duplicate the problem I quit taking it in. Luckily the first time it was fixed my vehicle was still under the extended warranty. (thank god I bought that! I've sure used it!) now this year, the passanger air bag won't turn on at all even with my 200lb boyfriend sitting there. The only thing that happens is the service air bag light comes on the dashboard. I've taken it back to the dealership and and they've duplicated the problem and want me to pay $600 to get it fixed. I don't feel that the same thing should have to be fixed twice in just 2-3years. Especially since it's not a maintenance problem. There is obviously something wrong with the sensor.
