Air Bag Light On problems of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox - part 2

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated the air bag light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told the air bag sensor failed. The contact found NHTSA recall campaign id number: 07v344000 (airbags: frontal: sensor/control module), but the manufacturer said their vehicle was not included. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 54,000.

2007 Chevrolet Equinox airbag sensor, the right air bag light only comes on half of the time. I have taken this vehicle in four times so far and it still doesn't work, gm rep says they will not replace any parts unless it shows error codes. What happens when someone face hits the dash or the windshield? I guess general motors doesn't care!!!!!!!!.

There were no events that led up to failure. . . The air bag light will stay off even though the passenger seat is occupied and on the dash it will read, " service air bag. " I called gm hotline and was told that even though there was a TSB for that problem my vehicle did not fall within the selected VIN numbers and would not be covered.

I have a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. Intermittently, the passenger air bag "on/off indicator shows "air bag off" with a passenger in the seat. This occur with passengers weighing from 100lbs. To 200lbs. The only way I can get the "air bag on" indicator to work in by turning the engine off and then restarting the engine. I often must repeat this procedure six or eight time before the "air bag on" indicator is illuminated. The local dealer has replaced the passenger air bag module to no avail. They say that this is an isolated problem & there is no correction. This opinion was echoed during phone conversations with customer service personnel at general motors. I have been dealing with this matter, on a local level for approx. 18mos. With any progress this represents a significant safety problem for my passengers I've searched this problem on your web site & note that your records show 57 complaints for this particular auto. Eleven (20%) were for the problem I've described in this complaint. I believe there is justification for a recall or other remediation. Incident has been ongoing since10/08. Incident date below is latest incident.

Passenger side air bag worked intermittently while passenger was seated in seat. Sometimes on when no one seated and off when someone seated. Now check/service airbags lights are on and passenger side airbag stays off when someone seated. I am not sure if any of the airbags at this point will work because all airbag lights are on.

The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 24,283. Js.

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000.

The passenger side air bag light reports that the air bag is off on an intermittent basis.
