Jerking between gears.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving 40 mph and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving. The contact stated that while attempting to drive from a complete stop the following day, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
Just got a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox from a dealership that I trusted. Only had a few weeks and it just stalled on me while driving in traffic!!! ?? would not start back ! it was terrifying!!! thank god it wasn’t rush hour! a nice man helped push it out of road into a parking lot! now I find out there are safety issues and recalls that I was not aware of! faulty oil piston rings caused it to jump time! they want over 7,000$ to fix but I do not have that kind of money!!!its a death trap and shouldn’t have been allowed to re sale!!!.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power upon depression of the accelerator pedal with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact also stated while driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled while attempting to cross a bridge. The contact called a friend who assisted with towing the vehicle to her residence. The contact then drove the vehicle to two independent mechanics who attempted to retrieve fault codes but were unable to. The mechanics were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The sparks plugs were replaced, and an oil change was performed; however, the failure persisted. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 106,697.
Engine check light on took in for diagnostic and was told nothing was wrong just over heated. Taken in multiple times. Finally on February 10, 2022 a visual inspection of leak was done to find rear main seal blew out and leaking oil! at which point it was recommended replacing engine. Through a search on 2011 Chevrolet Equinox it was found to be a common problem for this model. Also mentioned was transmission issues with jerky or slippage in gears ?? in automatic/manual transmissions combination types! plus having trouble with speed control revving up, going up and down hills as concerning with gas pedal sticking!.
My car was purchased used at a Chevrolet dealership. I noticed right away that the carjerks when I accelerate, it also stalls when trying to accelerate when making a turn which cam cause an accident. The vehicle revs and slowly moves and then takes off. Its a dragging motion when driving its very slow. The steering wheel locks when turning as if I need power steering fluid. This car is a hazard, waiting to happen. When starting it, it makes this loud humming noise. I just had it inspected and the mechanic said the car was fine, but driving it is a different story.
The engine oil rings are faulty ,it's a manufacturer issue but lawsuits have been the only outcome . It also has many environmental hazards involved as well as public safety as this vehicle spews massive amounts of oil and gas and other nasty things out onto the road behind it from the exhaust.
I am currently experiencing issue with my 2011 chevy Equinox. Vehicle stalled while driving, idle's rough, and sounds like a rough. My vehicle has shut down multiple times while driving.
2. 4 liter ecotech engine used in 2011 chevy Equinox is in current recall by gm. Gm is using VIN number to prevent recall repair to vehicle. Vehicle was purchased in 2018 during recall. Local dealer refused to repair with substantial cost up front. Dealer is aware of issue with vehicle from conversation with lead technician who had been instructed to deter any repair of this vehicle to up front costs only. VIN will not show recall due to general motors cost of repair or replacement of engine.
The car always needed oil, and we did know why til the timing belt went and the engine had to be replaced and it cost us over 2850. 00 then we found out gm put a bad spray oiler for the timing belt as for the going through so much oil we are unsure. I did hear of a lawsuit we just would like our money back for the motor replacement it's a very bad lemon gm on the 2. 4 liter engine they made.
My ignition was getting jammed and stuck when turning the truck on. While driving I felt something losing power my gears felt really slow.
I was heading into work on a Wednesday. Exiting the highway there was a massive shutter in transmission as it downshifted on the exit ramp. Turning on to a busy street, u. S. 36, the vehicle began to shutter as it was shifting into the next gear. By that time I needed to slow down for a stop light. As I began to increase in speed the transmission shuttered violently. Then the tachometer was pegged and redlining and was not gaining speed. With a massive amount of traffic piling up on me and nowhere to go, I turned on the flashers. I began coasting because the transmission was not functional. Engine running fine with no acceleration. There I was dead in the roadway waiting to be rear ended. . After the traffic eased up. I put the car in park and tried to drive again. The vehicle would only go about 10mph and then stop propelling me forward. Coasting to another stop. Putting into park again and then back into drive. Again only getting up to about 10mph before transmission would stop moving forward. I did this numerous times before I could find a safe location to pull into. This episode ended in a $3400 transmission repair. The master mechanic says he sees this so many times with vehicle. I find this to be unacceptable for an auto manufacture to produce such an inferior product that untimely puts the public safety in jeopardy.
Stability control has come on the engine and it have reduce speed.
I drove home and parked my car. When to started my car the following morning and put it in drive. My car would not move forward only backwards. I had know idea that my transmission was going. I went to the chevy dealer many times earlier for oil consumption and my the sound of my transmission and they said that the just sound of the car. If they had been honest and told me the truth I could have gotten my transmission fixed many years earlier. Thankfully my oil consumption was fixed only because I called corporate and pushed the issue. I believed the dealer when he told me all the Equinox sound like that. Now I have to pay over $3000. 00 for that lie. My car is being fixed by hobby's transmission in hicksville, NY as we speak. My car is a lemon. Corporate told me that my care was in the batch of cars that have oil consumption. I will be calling them about my transmission on Monday, 6/22/20.
Vehicle has about 109,000 miles and suddenly, the transmission went out while driving. I figured out that it was able to drive in reverse only, so I moved it to a safe location. I had to have it towed into the dealer (out of warranty) and it was determined that since it was a closed system that there were a few options. In the end, I went to replace with a new transmission and have the warranties. . . The cost was about $2000 for minimal warranties or over $5000 for full warranty. I felt that when I purchased this vehicle brand new with 5 miles on it that it would last longer than it did. I really have had no unhandled problems with the dealer or gm in general, but feel that to have no warning, lights, fluid concerns or anything occur to give me warning that this is hogwash. . . I have kept up my maintenance, oil and fluid per guidelines and as stated. . . Do not feel that this should have occurred without any warning!.
Car keeps dying while driving at low speeds, stop signs, stop lights ect. Idles very roughy, and is very loud. Check engine light is on.
I was driving down the road an I stopped. Tried giving it gas an rpms just went up. I was able to get it in 1st gear an go about 20mph for about 2 miles an then lost all gears. It is at the shop now an I just got the diagnosis. Need a new transmission. I believe it is time for gm to take all of this seriously an fix the problem there are to many complaints for the same thing with nothing being done. I cant afford this an most people can't but yet we are forced to pay for it. After 100s of the same issue it cant be the operator error it has to be the manufacture its self.
With no warning, the car just stopped. I had no reverse or forward. I was in motion on the highway and you could tell it was hesitating. Went a few more miles and thankfully made it to a parking lot. When my husband arrived, the car would just rev. We had to have it towed. The car has under 80,000 miles on it and the transmission goes? this is just ridiculous that chevy is ripping people off with these cars! I have read soo many complaints with this happening to the 2011 Equinox and there is not something fishy or recalls on this? you pay alot of money for vehicles and this should not happen to a car that has been babied, taken care of! I would never buy another chevy again!! when is this going to be recalled??????? after how many complaints and cars does it take to have the same problem???.
2 days ago (2/26/2020) noticed 2 "jumps" as reversing and again yesterday. This morning, barely was able to get car reversed out of driveway. It felt as if reverse gear was "slipping". After work, reverse gear totally useless, had to push car out of parking space at work and all forward gears were "slipping" and unable to accelerate vehicle. Towed car mechanic who said, "your transmission needs to be rebuilt or replaced " and "these cars are known for transmission problems and catalytic converter problems". He says repair will be at least $2500 and maybe as high as $4,000.
Vehicle won't reverse, rpm surging during acceleration causing hard shifting/jerking or no shift at all. Googling the issues brought up many other 2011 Equinox's with same issues.
Burns oil excessively, 1 quart per 10 days. No leaks . Costly repairs, and maintenance.
Fuel pump/ low fuel issues fuel pump failing, which in part leaks fuel into the engine. Running error codes. Low engine power light displayed on dash followed by reduce power. Dealership advises it's a 900 charge. Certain 2011 Equinox models fall under the product emission recall 43180 high pressure fuel recall. However I am being advised mine does not although issue appears to be consistent with recall at first glance.
A high pitched whining sound was noted while shifting through 2nd gear. Noted the next day the same whining sound while shifting through 2nd gear also began while shifting from park into reverse neutral and drive. Noted on the 3rd day all of the above in addition to the vehicle slipping gears and while in drive began to read as if it were in neutral. Upon inspection by a local dealer it was determined that the transmission was no longer functional. D mileage for the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox at that point was 109000 miles. It has since costed approximately $3000 to replace the transmission of which none was covered by any warranty either dealer or manufacturer.
Excessive oil consumption: have had to completely refill 4qts of oil every 17-20 days, no oil stains in parking areas or oil burning smell when driving.
The transmission just went out driving down the road, could not move it, could have been very dangerous if on a busy highway. Driving at regular speed, just sounded like it shifted to park, no warning at all. Was forced to replace transmission at $5000.
My 2011 chevy Equinox was not picking up speed, and would shut off when I stopped for more than 30 seconds. The engine also sounded very loud when in park. I had a diagnostic done at the dealership and it was determined that the timing chain needed to be replaced. My car had been in the shop two months prior for replacement of the camshaft position sensor. My car currently has 102,000 miles. The dealership said that metal shavings were also found in my oil. I tried driving my car after the diagnostic and the "reduced engine power" indicator came on, causing me to have to pull over on the highway and be towed. I contacted gm regarding a recall and was informed that the particular model of my vehicle was not included in the recall and since my warranty had expired there was nothing they could do. I have read reports of my 2011 Equinox owners who have had similar issues.
Damages to my engine were caused solely as a direct result of excessive oil consumption caused by defective piston rings used by gm during manufacturing that caused piston ring wear. The repairs that are needed are the direct result of excessive oil consumption caused by defective piston ring wear causing time chain to stretch and break. I took very good care of my car and had the oil changed every 2,000 to 3,000 miles. I had the oil consumption test done at thomas Chevrolet in media, PA which proved my car was burning excessive oil which was supposed to be covered under multiple recalls from gm - sb 13-06-01-003f. I was told there was nothing wrong with my car and after driving only 2,605 miles, my engine failed. The guide broke off and was sheared into fragments, chain was roaming free, chain cut into top of valve cover, cracked formed in top of valve cover, oil was leaking out of hole, motor shavings all inside motor from internal parts, grinding was due to lack of lubrication from oil being lost, causing knocking noises. Dealer recommended engine replacement at a cost of $7,800. Also sb-10090101-2280-1 also concerns the oil consumption problem and timing chain.
I am experiencing the same problems as the ones that are recalled for oil issues. However my VIN number wasn't listed. My pcv valve is stuck. Possible issue with inside the intake crank case and with that I don't want a blow out. Losing power and using a lot of oil. I have the 2011 chevy Equinox lt purchased less than 2 years ago.
The car has began using ridiculous amounts of oil, I have to put a quart of oil in every couple of weeks, the other issue is the transmission has started having issues it literally just passed the 100k mileage mark and this started, as if it was timed by the warranty, I see tons of people with this issue.
My vehicle is experiencing the problem listed in a recall that was issued on 9/13/11. The bulletin number is 11195b. In speaking to my local dealership, they tell me my vehicle was not included in the recall. I'm writing to see if this was an oversight or if any other owners of the vehicles listed in this recall have indicated they're having similar problems.
I own 2011 chevy Equinox. Only has 80,000 miles. First occurrence started as I was driving on the freeway and the vehicle stalled on me couple of times as I was driving or at stop sign. Malfunction engine sensor light turned on. Took it to two different people to look at it for an estimate, since taking it to the dealership will cost an arm and a leg, both said timing chain problem and I would need to get a new motor! also excessive oil consumption yet no sensor turns on. Checked to see if there were any recalls but only see hundreds of complaints with the same problem!.
Pcv system freezes causing the low power mode (limp mode) and check engine light to come on. Its a known issue, and gm covered it on a few cars. Next time I may be in heavy traffic.
Sitting idle at stop light, engined revved up, turned into parking lot, lost reverse. Pushed out of parking space, able to drive forward, but at low mph, began knocking and rattling, loss of power. Pulled into 2nd parking lot, turned car off. Waited 20 min, able to shift to reverse and drive about 10 min. Sitting idle once again, rpms revved up again, loss of power. Drove very slow until at a safe location, transmission light finally came on. Began online research to land here. Called mechanic friend, said known fact with 3-5-r wave plate failure 103,000 miles. Bought new Dec 2010.
I was driving my 2011 chevy Equinox I just purchased Aug 5,2018 while driving the engine light came on I went to turn in the parking lot at the vehicle just completely shut down I had try coasting into a space. Vehicle was towed to a service center only to learn this is a known issue with g mm c/Chevrolet. Unfortunately GMC is turning a deaf ear to this very dangerous situation. I had just gotten off a major interstate I could have been killed and gma is clearly aware of this problem and refusing to do a recall I'm praying noone gets killed before their hand is forced to make their product safe for the consumer.
I've had this vehicle for 10 months and it's been in the shop more than anything. It's already on its second engine and that was September 14th, now October 23rd it is now needing a transmission. This doesn't include the unbelievable amount of oil changes and tune ups. I've stalled in reverse and drive. The car died out while driving and is extremely loud at times. All I have for documents are my receipts. I'm disabled with children and when I thought we were buying a car we bought a lot of problems instead. Constantly trying to still find rides to dr appts and such. I'm very disappointed that a recall hasn't been done yet, after the all the complaints on said vehicle.
