Adaptive cruise control when on closest setting will not stop the car when you are going over 60mph, when a car drastically slows down in front of you the car fails to respond in fact the adaptive cruise control shuts off and ive practically hit the vehicle in front of me many times . . Its hard to trust this system. . And the other day it just shut off all together without a hard warning I could have plowed into the car in front of me. Also the lane assist does not beep/or seat rattle when you veer from your lane. It beeps randomly sometimes when you edge out of your lane going around a bend "sometimes" but randomly and not consistently. Ive talked to chevys customer care team and they keep referring to the dealership like they are the manufacturer. . But they did not design and are assuming its working right because all their other same models do the same things. . In my opinion this doesnt mean its not a recallable inherent issue with its current programming. . I think it is and should be corrected before someone gets hurt.

Please look into this issue, very dangerous! I was on my way home from work driving on the northeast extension of the PA turnpike heading south, and I was between exit 95 & exit 87 on Friday 8/2/19 at approx. 3:30 pm. I was driving the posted speed limit of 70 mph and was not using cruise control when the car abruptly shifted into low gear, flashed a reduced power mode warning, and went into a limp mode where it was slowing down to eventually stop itself, but I was at 40 or 35 when I pulled over. The engine light was on, and thank god no one was behind me, I wasn't in construction and I had a spot I could safely pull off onto the shoulder. I have a 2017 chevy Equinox with only 40,000 miles on it. I shut the vehicle off and sat for 5 minutes or so. When I turned it back on, the reduced power warning was gone, but the check engine light was still on. I was able to drive it home and called the dealer, chevy wind gap, to see if I had to have it towed there or if I could drive it in myself. They told me they thought it was just a sensor malfunction, that it should reset itself, and that I could drive it there for them to look at which is exactly what happened. The check engine light went off after a few days, and chevy wind gap was unable to find any current code history of the reduced power mode so now I'm just driving in fear every time I get into the thing that it's going to do this again at any time. I don't want to take passengers for fear of putting them in danger. If this happened in heavy traffic with a tractor trailer on my bumper, it could make for a very dangerous situation. I have always loved the chevy Equinox, this is the 3rd one we've bought, please listen to your customers out there that this is happening to because that number is growing each day. Please give us piece of mind to feel safe again in our new chevy Equinox.

Was driving up ramp to get onto highway when car accelerated to 80 mph without my foot on gas pedal. I turned the cruise control off and I pressed on break pedal but the car did not want to slow down. I pushed harder to get car down to 65 and then released break and it accelerated to 85 mph. I then put both feet on break pedal and pushed as hard as I could at that point I kept both feet on break pedal until I got car off the road and stopped at that time I put car in park. The engine had slowed down and I turned the key off. I then turned the key to accessory pushed cruise control on and then back off. Shut key in off position then started the car and have not used the cruise since. All I can say is thank the lord there was no traffic or it would have be a tragedy.

Driving down highway at 11:15pm, using cruise control set at 62 mph, applied brake to slow down as I entered small town. Coming out of town passed slow vehicle, sped up to around 65. Took foot off gas pedal and pedal went straight to the floor and stuck. Forgot about my onstar. Tapped pedal a couple times to unstick it, nothing. Applied brake a couple times, nothing. Stood on brakes, just jerking down the road. Looked and was up to 85 mph, pushed cruise control button to turn it completely off. Nothing was helping. Finally the pedal popped back up and hit the bottom of my foot, and we were able to finally slow down. This was a very terrifying experience and I am afraid to drive my car.

I was turning left on a green light at the corner of argyle and oakleaf suntrust bank when the car slipped into neutral and I was stuck in oneway opposite traffic until I turned off the engine and restarted it and then was a ble to go into drive, I was almost in a serious accident with several cars. Then I was traveling north on hwy 295 and I had it in cruise control and I could not get it to quit until I turned off the engine. The power train was slipping after I had taken it to the chevy dealer and they said it was fixed but less than a year later it started doing the same thing as before, slipping, making loud scratching noises. Rubbing noises and it smelled funny like it was burning but there was no fire.

I went to slow down my vehicle to exit off of freeway. Upon touching the brake, the care accelerated and stcu until I hit the brake. I phoned gm via onstar as this scared me. I thought it was a fluke however I still wanted it documented. This past week, July 28th 2014, I once again was traveling and went to slow down to take off cruise control and my rpm's jumped and stuck at 6-7. I could feel and hear them engine as the acceleration appeared to be stuck (again) this is very concerning happening twice now, both of which I believe have something to do with the cruse control as both incidents I had cruise control set and braking to slow down. Not hard brakes, gentle. Last summer of 2013, I had a rear right tire blow out going over 70 miles an hour on the highway. I did not know until now there was a recall. I phoned (pushed button) onstar after the incident as a tow truck had to come and take to the dealership. I had to replace all 4 tires on my than year old vehicle approx. 29000 miles on it. I had advised onstar I had no warning and wanted to know why the system did not alert em but no one had an answer. Also, when I first purchased my Equinox in July 2012, the car had a knock and I reported it. Can you please help me. On this last incident last week with the accelerator sticking, I pushed my onstar button advising them what had happened and to please transfer me to gm care so I could let them know, however, after remaining on hold for to long I hung up. No one has followed up with me regarding either incident. Thank you, tammy countryman.

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the cruise control was activated at 60 mph when the vehicle exhibited an unexpected increase in acceleration. In addition, the engine rpms increased abnormally. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for diagnosis where the technician was unable to duplicate the acceleration failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 28,000.
Cruise control acceleration button "stuck" down in acceleration "mode" and car continued to accelerate. I had to press the brake to disengage the cruise control. This button "sticks" or gets "stuck" in acceleration "mode" on cruise control and the only way I have found to disengage it is to tap the brakes and disengage the cruise control.

2012 Chevrolet Equinox. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle transmission issues. A month after purchasing the vehicle, the consumer stated the vehicle was sluggish, as the transmission was not shifting correctly. The next occurrence happened on January 2, 2013. The consumer stated before he could come to a complete stop, the vehicle stopped on its own, as if she hit a stone wall. The vehicle was taken back to the purchase dealer, but they were unable to find a problem. Also, the vehicle would stall, when slowing down. There was a noise coming from the front end. The dealer called the consumer to let him know, they ordered some bolts, so they could be bolted to the frame. On another occasion, while the cruise control was set, the consumer applied the brake, but the vehicle did not stop.
My car began chugging, losing power and eventually stalled as I came to a stop. This began when I slowed my vehicle on three separate occasions (once when I slowed to turn a corner- 2012, once when I slowed to stop at a light-3/2013 and the third time was when sitting idle with my foot on the brake-2/2013. ) each time my gas tank was less than half full but at different levels at each occurrance. My check engine light came on after the incidents. After the car stalled, I turned it off and was able to start it back up without incident each time. The car rides rough and is now making a rattling/rubbing noise. I have had two code checks; one returned as an issue in bank one with 3 potential issues: oxygen sensor, fuel injection system or ignition misfire. The second code check was code po172, fuel too rich. After the first code check, we replaced the O2 sensor and the car stalled the next day so the codes were checked again after my check engine light came back on. Other issues: *driver side lumbar support broke. Chair rocks a little but is still usable (albeit probably not safe): December, 2012 jerks/shifts roughly when slowing down or shifting from second to third. Also, when you turn off the cruise control, it slows down significantly and abruptly. (current issue and an issue since the day I bought the car in August, 2009. *climate control stuck on high (documented recall that I was not notified about. ) *weather stripping on the inside of the passanger front door stuck to the door and pulled off when the door was opened (unknown month, 2010) *driver side bottom part of seat cushion came unattached from seat base when I pulled it to the side to get an item that dropped down near the console (unknown month 2010) *constant knocking in the engine (been an issue since shortly after I bought it).

The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving approximately 75 mph, the contacts erroneously brushed against the roller button for the cruise control. The cruise control activated and the vehicle accelerated abnormally. The contact stated that the failure occurred sporadically and was concerned with the placement of the cruise control switch, stating that the component was positioned awkwardly on the steering wheel where his hands were. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was designed with the button in that manner and they were unable to assist. The contact stated he would have the cruise control disabled. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 100. Updated 12/12/lj the consumer stated the cruise control would lock in at any speed if the cruise control roller switch was brushed against accidently while driving. But, often at times the speed that locked in was higher than the speed he was travelling.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving 70 mph when the cruise control was engaged, the contact tried to deactivate the cruise control and it failed to respond. The contact was unable to stop the vehicle by applying the brakes. The contact stated that the vehicle speed increased to 85 mph. The caller had to place the vehicle in neutral before the vehicle could be slowed. The contact was not sure if the brakes responded or if the vehicle was stopped by the brakes. The dealer inspected the vehicle and stated that there were no failures. The vehicle is not being driven at this time. The failure and current mileages were 17449.

On my 2007 chevorlet Equinox, cruise control should be ended when stepping lightly on the brake pedal. Mine does not, it is necessary to press very hard to cancel the cruise control.
2007 Chevrolet Equinox failed to slow down when foot was lifted from the accelerator. Consumer states that cruise control was getting activated by barely touching the button. He would like something done about this problem.
