1 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 09/30/2024

On [xxx], while driving at 10mph in my subdivision, the 2022 Equinox simply died and would not restart. It was towed to gillman Chevrolet in harlingen, texas where it remains today. According to reliable online information, the fuel pump driver control module failed. I will authorize inspection at the dealership. I shutter to think what could have happened had the module failed five minutes later at 75 mph. God was with me. The problem has been confirmed by the service dept at gillman Chevrolet. The vehicle or component has only been inspected by the service department there, although according to the service tech, they are in communication with gm about the issue. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

4 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 06/10/2020

I own a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox (purchased in September 2011) that had been diagnosed by a certified GMC dealership (carl black GMC roswell, GA) with the exact same conditions as GMC service bulletin no. : 12313d special coverage adjustment engine balance chain and fuel pump. While my 2012 model is not listed as covered, I am requesting special considerations for my vehicle to be included in this sca given the exact match in vehicle symptoms and very close chronological proximity to the covered vehicles. I have attached two copies of the bulletins, 1 from your website and 1 from gm. Thank you.

5 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Equinox

6 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 02/05/2020

While having the engine disassembled to replace faulty piston assemblies that caused excessive oil consumption it was found the high pressure fuel pump was leaking. It was also found that the exhaust manifold was cracked and the O2 sensor and catalytic converter was worn sufficiently to warrant replacement. It was commented that the fuel in the lubricating oil due to the leaking high pressure fuel pump likely enriched the exhaust via the pcv system to overheat the exhaust manifold, O2 sensor and converter. Total cost of repairs not covered by the faulty piston assembly claim # 2304031 consisting of replacement of high pressure fuel pump, exhaust manifold, O2 sensor, catalytic converter and required gasket was $1,975. 38 us dollars labor included.

7 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 01/20/2020

When we bought the 2020 Equinox on January 20, 2020 the check engine light came on and they kept it 2 days diagnosing it and it said a fuel system problem and they told us that they contacted gm engineers who were looking into it and to go ahead and drive it with the light on till they got back with us. It has continued to stay on I had the code read again and it is a p2365 fuel pump a low flow/performance code. I do not like driving it with the light on, the dealership telling me to, not hearing anything back from them, the remote start will not work with the light on which is a main reason we bought it.

8 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 01/15/2020

The older model Equinox had an issue with it's high pressure fuel pump, so did my newer 2016. It failed and was pushing fuel into the engine at extreme levels. This caused the engine to stop working properly and fail. The gm technicians said they fixed the issue recently, but would not go on. I was driving in a potential fire starter. The actual issue happened while driving at 35 mph, the engine blew up and luckily did not start a fire with the amount of gas that was in the engine.

9 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 01/03/2020

Vehicle lost all power while pulling into a 4 way main road. Vehicle emergency lights/flashers did not work. Complete electrical failure. Car was stalled in active traffic lane during night time hours. Vehicle was towed into dealer for full diagnostic review- no issue was found with vehicle, although several eec test codes were detected- p0627, p0629, p01400, u18a2, u1524 and u18b4+71- most codes having to do with fuel pump/emission issues. Owner of vehicle considers this a serious issue as car stalled at night, in a heavy traffic area with no lighting or emergency flashers working to provide protection from on-coming traffic. Emergency personnel were called to assist.

10 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

Fuel pump/ low fuel issues fuel pump failing, which in part leaks fuel into the engine. Running error codes. Low engine power light displayed on dash followed by reduce power. Dealership advises it's a 900 charge. Certain 2011 Equinox models fall under the product emission recall 43180 high pressure fuel recall. However I am being advised mine does not although issue appears to be consistent with recall at first glance.

11 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 08/26/2019

Car was dying when I tried to pull out onto the road, city street from a stop sign. Was almost hit. My grandaughter is just learning to drive and I am scared to death to let her drive it . Running after key taken out, running very ruff. Check engine light kept going on & off as well as stabli trac warning. Smelled like catalytic convertor burning took to dealer to have diagosed and they said high pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. Engine had high content of fuel scanned and had excessive amaount of rich codes and misfire codesthat there was fuel getting in my oil said there was a recall but not on my VIN. Saw other complaints same problem that were told VIN wasn't right. Cost me $500. 00 to fix bought this car brand new and had to get a new engine at 62,000 and new pistons & cracked manifold replaced at 102,000. I had taken the car to dealer a few years ago for same issue and engine light had gone off and they said they could not find anything wrong. Out of warranty now and finally diagnosed the problem. Getting ready to buy 2 cars and I will never by another chevy or gm car again . Going with the foreigns. I think these cars are all lemons. I have seen others that were also told wrong VIN but same issue, needs investigated. I have already recieved invitation for class action suit on this darn car! really.

13 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 06/01/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving, the check engine and stability control warning indicators illuminated, and the engine would stall. The vehicle was taken to ferman Chevrolet (9751 alamo dr, tampa, FL) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure was not determined. The contact indicated that the high pressure fuel pump was previously replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 27,000.

14 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 04/15/2019

Gas in my oil caused by a faulty fuel pump. This is causing my vehicle to run poorly and continue to run after the key is removed. This effects the vehicle when running parked or running in all gear positions.

15 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 03/05/2019

In mid-December 2018, we purchased a used one-owner 2015 chevy Equinox from a small dealership in jenison michigan. It had about 113k miles. Less than 3 months later, in early March of 2019, the vehicle suddenly started smelling of gas, rattling, stalling. I immediately drove the vehicle less a few miles to our local mechanic. After the mechanic examined the vehicle, it was determined that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced along with a fuel pump at a cost of about $6300. We had purchased a third party warranty from preferred warranties llc through the dealership, so we thought we would be covered. The warranty company requested a more thorough examination of the vehicle to determine why the engine failed, at a cost of about $200, which would be reimbursed to us if the claim would be approved. Their adjuster visited our mechanic, and determined that since the engine had little oil, about one pint, the damage would not be eligible for reimbursement due to the vehicle being run on low oil. we were floored, as the oil had just been changed in December at the dealership and was not due for a change for another 3k miles. We had put about 1k miles on it since purchase. There was never any indication while driving that there was any problem with oil consumption: no oil low warning light, no leakage under the vehicle, no smoke, no hesitation in driving. We discovered that chevy Equinoxes with a 2. 4l engine beginning in 2010-2017 were experiencing excessive oil consumption with many of the complainants stating there was no indication the vehicle was losing oil. We are asking for your assistance in any way possible to recoup our losses due to the negligence of gm in their lack of informing of potential issues.

16 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 02/27/2019

Car started rattling, shaking, stalling with no indication beforehand of any problems. It was discovered that there was excessive oil consumption, resulting in using all but one pint of oil since oil change 2 1/2 months prior, less than 2000 miles since oil change. Engine damaged and fuel pump needs to be replaced. No indications that oil was getting low, no lights, no smoke, no smell, no leaks, no hesitation. While parking car, this all occurred.

17 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 02/25/2019

Takata recall: my cars engine is running extremely rough, it's idling very "bumpy" and seems to sputter, stalling out (while driving or stopped) and continuing to run a few seconds after I turn it off and the check engine keeps coming on and going off. When I took it in to see what was going on with it, the tech explained that my high pressure fuel pump is what is causing all the issues. I was talking to a friend about it and she sent me a link showing me that a recall was done on my make and model so I called my local chevy dealership and they show nothing for my VIN. Upon calling the actual chevy number listed on the site where we saw the recall they explained that even though my car is having the same issues for the part being recalled, my VIN is not included and that I will have to pay out of pocket. This is extremely frustrating! after finding this website I started reading complaints and the same thing is happening to another person with the same vehicle. I understand that these cars are made in different locations and the parts in those locations may be made differently then the parts in others but if we are having the same issues, I would think that another investigation needs to be opened and another recall needs to be issued including all VIN's for this make and model. If this has to be paid out of pocket a little help would be appreciated too. This is an expensive fix.

18 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 02/13/2019

A year after I purchased my used Equinox my water pump went out. While at the dealership they realize that my opinions have been worn and my timing chain needed to be replaced. Less than 6 months after my engine light popped on. . This car has been unreliable almost the whole time I've owned it. Last March I replace the timing chain again. After much research I realize that my timing chain keeps getting destroyed because the high pressure fuel pump is leaking gas into my crankcase. Chevy has put out a recall for my make and model vehicle but my VIN is not listed. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be listed especially since I am experiencing the same symptoms that is listed in the bulletin.

19 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 11/20/2018

When driving slow between 1st and 2nd gear when you get off the gas pedal and touch it again you hear and feel the clunk , as if there's play in transmission, turk conver locking and unlocking. Sounds like somethings going to brake. Other problem is thumping noise from something in fuel tank starts slow then seeds up . Mechanic said sounds like fuel pump module he couldn't repeat the problem. I only hear it when I'm stopped with car running and off this could make noise when driving but the normal sounds of radio, talking would drown it out . I'm afraid if it's the fuel pump ,it can shut off while I'm driving I can have an accident!.

20 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 07/18/2018

My car has a rough idle/feels like it's going to stall when it's idling. After getting a low-engine power indicator light, I took it to my dealer, who diagnosed the rear high-pressure fuel pump as a result of the code during diagnostics. At a cost of more than $1,300, the fuel pump was replaced, and as I was driving home from the dealership, the problem persisted and I called the dealer right then. I was told to let the car reset and do highway driving. After five days and a 12-hour highway round trip, I still had the problem and called the dealer back. They had my car three days and now say this is a timing chain issue, but they also say that some of my models are having high oil consumption, leading to the timing chain issue; therefore, they're tracking my oil consumption for 2,000 miles. Still, my question is why replace the high-pressure fuel pump since that didn't fix the problem? my year, make, and model--but not VIN--is currently under recall for failing high-pressure fuel pumps, but my dealer won't budge and include it in the recall. The recall #43180: product emission recall high pressure fuel pump (Sep 30, 2016). I also contacted gm's help line, and they investigated and did nothing. I can provide more information if necessary, but I'm requesting that the recall be expanded to include my VIN.

21 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

22 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 03/15/2018

The car began to smell of gas after running and started to cut out. Took it to a mechanic and they report a crack in the fuel pump.

23 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 01/13/2018

On Jan 13 my check engine light came on I didn't have any problems with the car before this and I went to school when starting the car at 5pm with no problems. I was driving home and it smelled really bad so I stopped the car and oil was leaking out everywhere. I had auto zone pull the codes and when I tried to start it it wouldn't start. The codes p0014, p2280, p0089, p0366, p0017, p0011 all came on. I brought it to the dealer and they had to fix the crankshaft rear oil seal, plugged pcv that cause excess pressure, rxr intake, camshaft position actuator solenoid valve, exhaust manifold was replaced but said the fuel pump didn't go bad from all these issues and told me I need to replace it. I never had a proble with anything tell this day and want to know why that wasn't replaced since it was connected to the engine. Now my car wouldn't start when I turn it over cause of this issue.

24 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 12/12/2017

This car has had many problems & recalls by gm. In 2017 I have replaced the high pressure fuel pump x 2, catalytic converter, transmission, svc traction, abs stability track, serpentine belt tensioner, strut mounts, lower control arm bushings, l & r rear trail arm bushings, throttle body. The car is burning oil excessively and I am keeping records of this as there is a recall/lawsuit pending on this issue currently. I purchased an extended warranty so much of these items were repaired under that except labor and taxes which still is excessive amount of repairs and money I spent on a 6 year old car. I called gm customer care and they couldn't care less. I am very disappointed.

25 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 11/25/2017

I purchased this car as used. When I first bought it there was a ticking sound that could barely be heard. The dealer said that was common. For vehicles sitting in the lot. I brought the car back once it got a little louder and they said most fuel pumps make that sound overtime but there was no issue. And that the manifold was causing the loud noise and gas smell. And needed to get repaired. That was during the warranty period . Now an year later. A week ago my car started making the same sound again and been getting louder. My check engine was blinking a d I noticed the car wasn't driving as smoothly and was using up more gas. An engine power reduced light came on and my engine just cut off. I had to get it to towed to a shop and there is an issue with the fuel pump pressure. I see there have been a lot of issues with fuel pump on this vehicle and a TSB recall. This is a safety concern as it is causing the engine to cut off. This happens to me on a busy street. Thank god I wasn't on the highway I get on to go to work.

26 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 11/18/2017

3 complaints contained within - complaint #1 - I have had multiple issues with cam shaft actuators and exhaust issues in this vehicle. This has caused my vehicle to stall in busy intersections and to also go into "limp" mode on the interstate. Going 70mph and the engine going into limp mode is dangerous. Thankfully there were alert driver around me that were able to help me get to the emergency lanes safely. There were recalls for this vehilce for some of these issues - but conveniently - my vehicle was not recalled. Three different gm/Chevrolet dealerships have worked on my vehicle and have contacted gm on my behalf - but gm has covered no fixes and I have been out over $2000 on these fixes that were covered under recalls - but not on my vehicle. 2nd complaint - I now have fuel pump issues. Again, a recall was issued in July 2016 for fuel pump issues. The recall is for the same year, make and engine as mine. . . . But my vehicle is not covered under recall. . . . . Even my vehicle will stall out while idling at intersections and again - safety issue. I have children and do not feel safe with this happening. Gm seems to not be concerned. 3rd issue - takata recall - my air bag alert light will come on - but I have not received a recall for this issue - yet again - my vehicle seems to not be on the list. Safety issue - yes. I have had an open case number with gm corporate for at least 3 years - but suggestions always seem to be on my dime. . . . Not theirs. At this point - my vehicle is a "lemon" in my eyes. . . And if me or my family get injured because of these issues. . . Well. . . . .

27 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 10/08/2017

After starting vehicle and putting into drive, the electronics of the car shut off (the radio, air condition, screen, power steering, etc) and the car would not accelerate. The vehicle was re-started; however, the same issue occured several times in a row. The vehicle was moved to a parking lot. The vehicle was towed to a Chevrolet dealership and the dealership service department called to inform that the fuel pump was leaking into the fuel oil crankcase (which is a known issue with the 2010 and 2011 Chevrolet Equinox and there is an existing recall for this issue).

28 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 09/19/2017

I received special coverage letter 12191 July 2013 that stated repairs needed to be made to my vehicle in a chevy location by 7/31/14. These repairs would only be made if the vehicle presented a problem by then (plastic supply or return on fuel pump may crack/leak fuel/vapors; in the presence of an ignition source may cause vehicle fire). On 9/18/17 I brought my vehicle to my trusted mechanic (I didn't remember chevy's expired letter from 2013) scared of smelling fuel. He repaired my car the next day & informed me of a special coverage note on 2007 models of my vehicle. I contacted chevy via letter asking if they would reimburse me for the work done. Their 1st response was they simply wouldn't because I had it done at my own private mechanic. I should have driven my fuel smelling vehicle to chevy (whom I do not have a professional relationship with) so one of their mechanics can see if there was in fact a problem first. I then replied, that after looking online I found a new york times article (https. //nyti. Ms/2hwdwed), dated 10/1/12, that stated that chevy was going to originally send out a letter stating that I had 10 years or 120,000 miles to have part replaced, but my letter states only until 7/31/14. Their verbal response was that they sent me an additional letter & maybe it went to the wrong address (I live at my current location for 46 years). Either way I should have done the investigating on my own to find out about said letter (found online after the fact 12191b; document id 4233868, dated 7/8/15) which believe it or not still stated that reimbursement requests must be submitted by 7/31/14. They simply told my husband that they would not stand behind their product or reimburse us because we went to our own mechanic who has been doing our vehicle maintenance for over 20 years.

29 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 09/12/2017

I have put 3 fuel pumps plus it will have to have installed again and will have to shell out 725. 00 this time because the warranty has expired and if gm don`t replace I may file the lemon law and my airbag in the steering wheel shows it is not working sometimes.

30 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 09/04/2017

#43180: voluntary product emission recall high pressure fuel pump (Sep 30, 2016) car stalls after idling when pulling out of parking lot or in a slow start up or transitioning from reverse to drive. Causing the vehicle to lose power and maneuverability. The engine mounted high pressure fuel pump in these vehicles may develop excessive wear on the plunger piston shaft and shaft seal. If this happens fuel can leak into the engine oil crankcase and result in the engine running rough and illumination of the malfunction indicator lamp. The issue has been ongoing for past several years.

31 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 08/26/2017

Faulty return port in fuel pump module leaking fuel (severe leak) started noticing a smell with no visible leak, now when car is parked loosing all fuel pressure (car won't start on first try) and parked with 1/2 tank now no fuel left in car. Distinct smell of fuel and car is parked. Is this part of recall?.

32 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 08/02/2017

Our 2007 chevy Equinox fuel pump return started leaking fuel on the top of the fuel pump causing fuel to leak on the ground and releases strong gas fumes while parked in our garage. This vehicle is under current safety recall in other states but not in indiana. Why are only some states under recall but not indiana?.
