A few months ago, I took my car into the dealer to diagnose a check airbag light. $122 later, my vehicle was found to have a "faulty passenger presence module. " I was quoted over $1000 in repairs and given no other options. I declined the repairs in lieu of confirming with an independent mechanic as I have had issues with that service department before regarding a faulty fuel system (which was recalled and I was not informed). My independent mechanic confirmed the passenger sensing unit was not working properly and after further investigation, I found that this part (much like the debacle with my fuel pump) was also a recalled. I am referring to NHTSA campaign#07v344000. My VIN# is included within the designated VIN breaking points; however, it does not qualify individually. I find this infuriating. If the part is known to be faulty, and it's the same part placed into pontiac/chevy vehicles then why are only some of these faulty parts included in the recall???? this was the same situation with my faulty fuel pump, in which I paid cash for the part and repairs and then 6 months later received a letter from gm stating my VIN# was now included. I phoned the dealer and gm directly and they offered me no options other than pay $611 for the part and estimated another $500 in labor. I have found on numerous gm forums that this issue with the ppm is very common with 2007-2009 pontiac and chevy vehicles with those owners getting the same excuse from gm and no recall coverage. I am hoping that in the future someone from the NHTSA will look into this campaign and expand the vehicles involved as it seems to be a dealer/part issue and affects the overall safety of the vehicle.

Passenger side airbag sensor doesn't go on or goes on and then turns off while in car driving or stationary. Moving around on seat makes it switch back and forth. Looks like this is the same issue from the 2007 recall, but not extended to 2008. Haven't taken to dealership yet, but seems to be a common problem. Was sold to me last month from a used car dealer.

The drivers seat power adjuster came unscrewed and the seat dropped down. There is a recall on this issue, but this vehicle is not included in the recall. I have fixed the issue twice now since December 2014. I have pictures.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
I received a recall notice in September 2014. . . Gm recall 14271 after making numerous phone calls over the last 3 months to both the local chevy dealer and Chevrolet customer assistance center there is still no part available to remedy this safety issue. The only response is the "parts are not available" and "we have no idea when they will be in ".
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that a notification was received for NHTSA campaign id number: 14v447000 (seats) and indicated that the part was not available nor the remedy. The dealer was contacted for several months and they were not able to provide an interim fix nor a remedy. The manufacturer was contacted and was not able to confirm when the recall repair would be performed. The contact was not able to drive the vehicle due to a bolt potentially fracturing if the seat was moved or adjusted. The manufacturer was notified of the safety concern and was not able to confirm when the part and the remedy would become available. Dyd.

The front passenger seat caught fire sometime between 3 p. M. On 8/10/14 and 8 a. M. On 8/11/14 when the vehicle was unoccupied, parked, and locked. The fire burned a large hole in the seat. Charred debris from the burned seat was found on the front passenger side floor mat. The vehicle was taken to a Chevrolet dealer for diagnosis as soon as the burned seat was discovered. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a "seat fire caused by an internal heat source" and offered to replace the front passenger side air bag sensor and seat cushion.

During regular commute, while driving through the city on the way home, the driver seat lumbar collapsed with a loud pop, like a balloon pop. I am a regular sized guy, 5'11", 160lbs. And I wasn't doing anything special. It was just a regular day driving home and the lumber just popped and now there's a cavity inside the back of the driver seat. Upon searching the internet. Apparently it's a common issue, some drivers had their lumbar popped in the exact same way twice within six month. Apparently there was, at some point a TSB for this issue. However, gm cannot find it, and won't repair the seat for me. Despite me googling and searching and came up with the following info on my own: "from gm. . . Pi0246a 2010-2011 Equinox, terrain - front seat power lumbar support inoperative replace only the screws. A revised screw has been released don't replace the lumbar assembly". This is a common problem, and a design flaw that gm refuses to admit, nor address. They just plan on letting the vehicle owners drive with a cavity on their back.
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that both the driver and passenger's side head rests remained stationary and could not be maneuvered. The dealer informed the contact that the head rest was functioning as designed. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. The VIN was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the passenger front seat warmer failed and burned a hole through the seat. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.
I noticed that after a large thunderstorm that had a large amount of water pouring down, my car had a inch of water on the back floor in front of 2nd row. The seats were not wet and only the floor in back was wet and was seeping towards front. This meant that my windows were not open because my seats where not wet. I went to dealership and they would not do anything for me as they said it had to be my fault. Well a year later they finally agreed mold was growing and something was wrong. They stripped my car down to the metal and found water sitting all over in any nook and cranny that was in the frame. They beleive anytime I went through a car wash or it rained on my car, I was getting water inside. Service advisement number 08-08-57-001a states that they may have not sealed up to 15 points on the Equinox between 2005-2009. The dealership did not even know about this advisement as I had to read through some blogs to find it and it was the real deal. I had over 4 inches of water sitting in my spare tire wheel well.
My car began chugging, losing power and eventually stalled as I came to a stop. This began when I slowed my vehicle on three separate occasions (once when I slowed to turn a corner- 2012, once when I slowed to stop at a light-3/2013 and the third time was when sitting idle with my foot on the brake-2/2013. ) each time my gas tank was less than half full but at different levels at each occurrance. My check engine light came on after the incidents. After the car stalled, I turned it off and was able to start it back up without incident each time. The car rides rough and is now making a rattling/rubbing noise. I have had two code checks; one returned as an issue in bank one with 3 potential issues: oxygen sensor, fuel injection system or ignition misfire. The second code check was code po172, fuel too rich. After the first code check, we replaced the O2 sensor and the car stalled the next day so the codes were checked again after my check engine light came back on. Other issues: *driver side lumbar support broke. Chair rocks a little but is still usable (albeit probably not safe): December, 2012 jerks/shifts roughly when slowing down or shifting from second to third. Also, when you turn off the cruise control, it slows down significantly and abruptly. (current issue and an issue since the day I bought the car in August, 2009. *climate control stuck on high (documented recall that I was not notified about. ) *weather stripping on the inside of the passanger front door stuck to the door and pulled off when the door was opened (unknown month, 2010) *driver side bottom part of seat cushion came unattached from seat base when I pulled it to the side to get an item that dropped down near the console (unknown month 2010) *constant knocking in the engine (been an issue since shortly after I bought it).
Purchased 4/2010 1 at a red light, car idled really rough, then all of the dash lights came on. I drove straight to the dealership. They checked it out and said I needed a new fuel pump. I had about 47,000 miles. 2. Oil consumption - the first time this happened I was hearing a funny noise when I turned left coming from the engine. My boyfriend checked the oil the next morning to find no oil on the dipstick. We put in 2 qts then when the dealer ship opened I took it in. They told me they could not find any internal or external leaks so bring in weekly for oil consumption test (I was about 1500 miles since my oil change that was done at the same time the fuel pump was replaced) drove out of town to visit family (about 2000 miles after oil change) after driving 200 miles heard the noise again checked the oil. . . . . . . 2 qts low. Added oil and took to local dealership. No problems found related to oil, but did find another alert that needed to be completed when I got home related to the water pump tensioner. Gm customer service again , but only was told to wait until my next scheduled oil change and start consumption tests again. 3. I pod jack - worked fine for the first 2 years, but then would cause all center console lights to go out, could not operate radio or a/c. 4. Stalling - I have only had this problem once but it was as I was turning left across 3 lanes of traffic! 5. Jerky transmission - the first time this issue happened it jerked so hard I thought I hit something. Took it to the dealership and was told, like others it was the transmission "learning" me. The transmission codes were updated and problem only occurs occasionally 6. Drivers seat lumbar support airbladder - has popped and had to be replaced two times.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox. While the passenger seat was occupied, the air bag warning indicator illuminated, indicating that it was disabled. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing and it was confirmed that the passenger side seat sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.
The service airbag message appears when there is a person in the passenger seat of the vehicle. The dealer said it is due to the passenger presence module. An internet search for "2007 Equinox passenger presence module" reveals that there is a known issue witht he passenger presence sensor (pps) on this vehicle. The passenger side airbag will not deploy in the event of an accident due to the defective sensing system/part. The manufacturer should repair this system/part before an injury due to the defect occurs.
Service airbag light would come on for days and go off for days and continued doing this for a month till we took it to the dealership. Problem was right front seat module shorted out and was replaced. Module kit 14. 865 (part fp 19207140) total cost of repair was $416. 75. At this time, there are no recalls for this problem on this model per gm. I do have a file number with gm and they will notify me should there be a recall.
I have been watching the recall listing for campaign number 07v344000 because this is exactly what is wrong with my vehicle but my VIN always comes up with no open recalls. The seat sensor for the passenger airbag has been determined to be bad but it doesn't apply to my vehicle. If the part is bad and is being recalled for other cars why is my car excluded? the Chevrolet dealer quoted me a cost in excess of $900 for a part I know has an active recall on it.
Stopped at a red light. The drivers seat failed to stay upright with a 40 mph collision from behind. The stationary vehicle, the one with the seat that failed, is a 2005 chevy Equinox. The vehicle that rear-ended the Equinox was a 1999 Ford explorer.

Passenger front seat in 2008 Equinox. When exiting the vehicle your right leg pinched between the seat itself and the side molding to the seat. Though this not a life threatening situation or a critical hazards, it is neither the less a constant reminder that there is a fault with the design of the seat. The dealership will simply look at the seat and shake their head and look at you as what they want the dealership to do about it. This why I am writing this complaint.
My 2008 chevy Equinox front passenger seat pinches you when you are exiting the car. It grabs your bottom / leg on the right side of seat. I have complained to the dealer and manufacture, they say that is the way the car is made and will not do anything about it. I have had people of all sizes try getting in and out , fat or skinny it hurts everyone. I have even asked another person with the same car if it does it to them , and they said yes and did not know what to do. My husband is the passenger most of the time and he is on blood thinners for his heart. He has to be very careful with the slightest injury to watch for internal bleeding. Currently we have to stick a piece of foam on there so when he gets out of car it wont pinch him. We constantly have to do this. I find it unacceptable for a new car I paid 25 k for to do this and the manufacture not willing to fix this defect. It has been like this since we brought the car home in Feb. We have complained multiple times with no resolve.
