The vehicle has been resealed around the rear door of the vehicle and this has not solved the problem. The water must be entering the vehicle from the undercarriage. I have read complaints from other 2007 Chevrolet Equinox owners. Based on their complaints, they are not getting any resolution from general motors. 19 Structure problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 07/08/2010

Bought in Jan 2009 with 65,000 on it. Summer 09 in a rain storm it looked like someone turned a faucet on in my car the water was coming in on drivers side my left foot looked like in the tub, fixed under warranty. Out of pocket $100, the by end of 09 the real fun began, had engine mounts replaced, knocking in car when car started for first 5 minutes. The by October car was over heating, heat only blew when car was moving, car now had 118137 replaced the ender blower motors, coolant fans and fan motor, called and reported to chevy, then in November 010, it all happened again. This time had to have blend arm door replaced car called chevy nope not a issue per internet its major issue. Replaced at my cost $891. Right before christmas, 2010, gaskets and seals blew car over heated then shut off, had to let it cool down then start up again. Had to replace engine, gaskets and seals. Now 7/12 chevy wants to reimburse for the part but decided to fight me tooth and nail on the reimbursement because I no longer own the car. Traded it in April 2012 could not longer afford it and trans felt like its going to go. Chevy said I will get a partial refund of blend arm door only? wtf the car put me and my children in danger and that's all they want to do but yet fight me? also I reported to chevy all these issues, the bbb, a lawyer at this point, 2 tv network news programs, and all available multimedia.

21 Structure problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 11/18/2009

2006 chevy Equinox many of them including mine have no heat the door breaks and the whole dash must come off to fix. I checked online and many many of this year has or had this problem. Very costly to fix. Should not be happening to this new of a car. Why no recall of this with so many having the same problem? where to go? no heat no defrost.

22 Structure problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 11/10/2009

The chevy Equinox has a history of water leaking into the spare tire wheelwell. My 2007 Equinox is no exception. It was repaired in 2009 under warranty. The repair lasted for a while then the wheelwell started filling up with water again. Last summer I was using a wet and dry vac to take the water out, only to have it fill up later on. Gm put out a maintenance bulletin in 2009 for this problem. Their instructions did not fix the problem. There is no recall for this, why I don not know. The water creates a terrible smell, fogs up the windows on the inside, creates ice on the inside of the windows during the winter, can create mold throughout the carpeting and seats and is just a complete pain in the ass to keep dealing with this. Why has there been no recall on this issue? many, many, many complaints are out there on this problem with no coverage from gm. This is not an owner cause. It is a manufacturing cause. Owners of the Equinox need a recall inorder to take care of this without payments from the customer. Check it out and see how big this problem is. This is a problem with various gm vehicles and years.

24 Structure problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 07/09/2009

Sounds like a dragging muffler while driving down the road or just idling. Called the dealership to see if they could just listen to it, needed to use a stethoscope to pinpoint where the noise was coming from. A bolt had fallen from the oil pan and was occasionally hitting the fly wheel. We were told we couldn't drive it until it was fixed and that we either had to have it done there or towed to where it would be fixed. If we tried to drive it the fly wheel could not only have broken teeth but also throw the bolt through the engine. We were told if they could just use a magnet to reach the bolt then it would be roughly $400, but if they had to drop the transmission it would be more. I can't see how this would be "normal wear and tear", $1000 later. I am hoping to contact gm with my complaint, but not expecting to get anywhere.

25 Structure problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 06/12/2009

I had to have my trunk compartment replaced and some areas around the frame of the body re-sealed due to excess water accumulating in the spare time area. I was first told by the dealer repair shop that it was a defect but when I requested reimbursement gm denied that the dealer ever told them this. I believe gm is denying that there are some structural problems with this year and model and my fear is that another year down the road there will be other issues with the frame/body of this model vehicle. Also, it bothers me that we are encouraged to "buy american" but the american car makers do not want to stand up to their promise of good makemanship. I am disappointed and especially with the dishonesty at the corporate level of this corporation.

26 Structure problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 05/01/2009

Right after purchasing this vehicle I noticed after running the air conditioner that a moldy musty smell came from the car. My husband changed the cabin air filter, that only helped for just a few weeks. I had my service department check it out. They told me the condenser need a foam spray to kill the bacteria at my cost. I purchased the extended warranty on this vehicle but that would not cover the cost of the fix. I am very disappointed with this vehicle. I am also concerned that we are breathing all this contaminated air.

27 Structure problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 10/01/2008

I am experiencing serious water leaks in my 2005 Chevrolet Equinox awd lt. Whenever it rains, water accumulates in the spare tire well and overflows onto the floor under the rear seats. It also creates a disturbing short out of the speaker system. The carpet smells and I am very concerned about mold, as well as fire from the electrical shorting out. Another issue is that it causes the windows to fog up, especially when I run the heater to try to dry it out.

28 Structure problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 09/01/2008

We purchased a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox in may 2007. In sept. We started to notice a strange odor in the car. I heard water sloshing around in the car on inspection of the car we found standing water in the tire well of the car. Everytime we clean the water out of the tirewell it returns. At present we are unable to determine the origin. (the cargo mat carpet in the back was not even wet). I would like this complaint put on file in the event that others are experiencing this same issue and perhaps it can be fixed.

29 Structure problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 09/01/2008

The interior floor of my 2007 chevy Equinox is wet. There is a leak somewhere in this vehicle and when I googled "my Equinox leaks" there are many others with the same problem. I noticed a smell in the car a few months ago and cleaned the entire car from top to bottom and found nothing that would cause any orders. This order smells like mold and chemicals mixed together. It is awful. As I was cleaning the car to find the smell I noticed the rear passenger floors were wet, not damp, wet. I have tried everything to get rid of the water but nothing works. The other internet positing, which there are problem a good 100 or more, all have the same problem as mine. Gm has ignored their requests for help. Please help us get gm to fix this defect. Thank this is a health issue, the smell this problem is creating is toxic. . . .

30 Structure problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 08/23/2008

The car was parked from Tuesday 8/19 until 8/23 due to tropical storm fay. On 8/24, the floorboards were soaking wet from under the dashboard to under the back seat; push on the carpet and water would just well up. The parking lot was not flooded, the windows rolled up; the seats were dry, as was all of the inside panels; so I'm not sure where the water came from. I've called chevy, they are sending me to a dealership for repairs and cleaning, as the vehicle is still under warranty. This is the first time this has occurred, I brought it with me from nevada when I moved. It has been driven through heavy rains, although never a tropical storm, and I hadn't noticed any leaking before. It did damage several items that were on the floor, and it is very musty in the car now.

31 Structure problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 05/01/2008

The hydraulic pumps that hold the back hatch open(up) on my Equinox just quit working with out any warning . The hatch is so heavy I can't use it there is no safe way of holding up the hatch to put anything into the back of the car. I'm looking into buying a new set ,one for both sides of the vehicle . If I find them I will keep the old ones. ,until I hear otherwise . . If I attempt to open the hatch, its slams down very hard because the hatch itself is so heavy . If a child happen to be near the hatch when it goes down they could be hurt very badly as could an adult. I no long can open the hatch as its too heavy to lift . The info on the pumps is stabilus USA gastonia nc 28052 5480869 4992rq0830n 007105 b20.

32 Structure problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 11/04/2006

I am experiencing an extremely strong mildew smell inside my Equinox. It is so strong people comment outside the car. The smell also penetrates clothing so that others notice the smell. People will not ride in my car. I have had it to the dealer twice. Both times the odor improves slightly (they depdorize the hvac) but still others comment. I am concerned about driving my 3 year old b/c of the smell. We have found no visible wetness or mold. The rubber around two windows was loose but the dealer did not find water inside the door. The smell does not seem to be coming from the vents but mores so just from the car.
