The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while the windshield wiper was activated, the windshield wiper arms detached. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
The wiper blade motor is gone out. The tire pressure sensor is off : the oil seems to disappear faster than the sensor.

Twice, while driving in falling snow away from home, the front wipers did not work properly when switched to lo or hi. They behaved as if set to intermittent wiping. The intermittent wiper setting worked properly to adjust the wipe interval. But setting to lo or hi did not cause the wipers to go constantly. As far as I could tell, the arm pivot area was clear enough for them to wipe. The problem went away on its own without restarting the car. It happened again a few days later when parked in a driveway.

I am writing to formally document a series of catastrophic mechanical failures regarding the aforementioned vehicle. Despite rigorous maintenance and significant financial investment, the car remains non-drivable, posing a severe safety risk. Chronology of failures: October 2024: four months post-purchase, the timing chain failed on I-94. Atwater Chevrolet replaced the component; however, this did not resolve the underlying engine instability. December 3, 2025: following a dashboard warning light, a northland Chevrolet dealer replaced the solenoids. At this time, the windshield wiper motor also required replacement. Late December 2025: shortly after these repairs, the vehicle suffered a major failure of the rear main seal and engine block during sub-freezing temperatures. This caused a total loss of oil and left the driver stranded in hazardous conditions. Maintenance and disclosure: we have invested over $4,000 in preventative maintenance, including oil changes every 2,800 miles to mitigate known oil consumption issues. At the time of sale, there was no disclosure regarding the inherent engine defects common to this model. Current status: the vehicle is currently at a dealership and is inoperable. A $10,000 loan balance remains. Current diagnostics suggest a frost plug failure triggered the event. I have contacted gm regarding bulletin 14882, which addresses identical issues in similar models, but was informed it does not currently attach to this VIN. Furthermore, the extended warranty provider has denied the claim following an inspection, despite the documented manufacturing issues known to affect these engines for several years.
While driving with windshield wipers on, they suddenly stopped working. The wipers were stuck in position in the center of my windshield. Upon inspection, it appeared that one of the arms had become disconnected from the piece it was connected to. Snapped right off during unsafe driving conditions.
Wipers stopped working sounded like they were grinding when they stopped.

There is extreme glare from the black dashboard reflecting back up onto the windshield in partly sunny to sunny conditions. The glare effectively blocks my vision and I've now had two (2) instances, in parking lots, where pedestrians were near my vehicle and my vision was blocked - almost causing me to hit / run over these pedestrians. I've contacted gm and the dealer (loyalty Chevrolet williamsburg , va) for over three months trying to get this resolved. They contend they've issued a "safety fix" involving a new dash mat to reduce glare, but the parts are not available / on backorder.
Got the Equinox brand new on March 2025. Few weeks later had to take it to service/dealer with backup camera problems and it had to be replaced. It started to have speakers issues due to a very loud humming sound while driving. Also window from drivers side runs slower than the rest of windows. The visibility through front glass is non existent when raining due to the angle. Transmition started slipping and started to have a check engine light pop up and had to take it to service again. . . And finally at the beggining of November had to take it to service due to a sudden battery drain. She wouldnt turn on for no reason. The defective module is on backorder with no estimated arrival date, leaving the vehicle unusable. Its been there for 2 months now. . . They provided a loaner. Everything has been confirmed by dealer. They said that had 3 pages of codes pop up to be fixed.
Windshield glare is horrible. It can cause distortion of objects. It can cause dizziness. Especially on bright sunlight and when many lights from oncoming traffic reflect off the windshield. I have had to pull over a few times. The dashboard shininess is a real problem. The dealerships don’t want to order the free dash mat unless they “diagnose” it even though it is a known problem and they ignored my concerns when I went in to the dealership even though a free dash mat is offered by gm the fix for this in reality is a new dashboard that will end this problem but that is too expensive for gm. They all say to wear polarized glasses to help. Wrong. That’s like putting a bandaid over a gunshot wound. If they aren’t willing to fix this error I want them to buy me out cuz it’s not a small problem that could result in injury or death if not addressed. The 2026 models have a new dashboard that corrects the problem. This problem has caused me not feel safe and avoid driving sometimes and this is not acceptable to me.
Visibility under certain conditions is very poor. Reflection on the windshield from the dash creates unsafe driving conditions. It is especially bad when driving into a dark area like a parking garage or car wash. Almost impossible to see other vehicles or people. Polarized, sunglasses, eliminates or reduces the reflection but they are not always within reach. This is not an isolated incident. It is a constant problem with the vehicle design.
After I purchased my vehicle, 2026 chevy Equinox rs, I noticed severe distortion on the front windshield. I had it replaced once, with the same problem. They were going to put another windshield in but we wanted to see it first, which was worse than the first two. I do not like the feeling of being car sick. Also, the transmission slipped once, while driving. It felt like it went into neutral and then back into gear. The dealer looked at it and could not find anything wrong. It was good for a few weeks and then it did it again.
The front dash reflects on the windshield to the point where it is impossible to see the roadway clearly while driving.
The dashboard on my 2025 Chevrolet Equinox ev rs reflects strongly on the windshield, creating glare that severely reduces forward visibility in daylight. The reflection makes it difficult to see the road clearly and poses a serious safety hazard. I have taken the vehicle to the local dealers various times for this issue, and they acknowledge the problem but have not repaired it, saying they are waiting for a part. The visibility issue remains unresolved and appears to be a design defect that could affect other vehicles of the same model. It poses a serous risk of accident and injury to pedestrians.
When I was driving home from the grocery store a very heavy thunderstorm started I turned my wipers off because of the sudden rain just to realize that they were not working. I had to pull over because I couldn’t see. Causing me to almost get rear ended with my 6 month old, 18 month old and 6 year old I was finally able to start driving 45 minutes later when the rain stopped. This was a very dangerous incident that happened that could have ended in a car catch.
The dash grill pattern totally blinds the driver because the sun casts a reflection or glare of this dash pattern on the entire windshield. I have come close to hitting a child in residential that was riding his bike that I didn't see because of the reflection that blinded me. Luckily, I was traveling slow enough he moved in time. I didn't see him until the side window after he moved and I drove past.
The dashboard causes a serious glare that prevents visibility. Gm has only offered a cheap dash mat as a fix and my local dealer says they don’t know anything about it. They should really replace the dash pad with the updated model and not just lay a piece of cheap carpet over the dashboard of my 50k dollar car. The attached photo dosent even do the problem justice. Due to the way camera lenses work it looks less severe in photos.
The dashboard has lines on it that causes significant glare during the day and in sunlight. It is difficult to see out the windshield when driving or to see pedestrians.
As reported by many before, the glare off the dashboard is a safety issue, disrupting visibility and potentially causing collisions with unseen objects. The TSB #25-na-069 relating to this issue was installed on my car, but the cabin now looks cheap, reducing the overall value of the car. The pad that was installed cannot be considered permanent, since it is easily removed by the owner. The 2026 model has redesigned the dashboard so the glare problem has been remedied.
The 2 problems that I am reporting are visibility issues. There are situations when it is very difficult to see out of this car. When bright sunshine comes through the windshield it reflects off of the dashboard making it almost impossible to see out. Pedestrians are very difficult to see and it's very dangerous to continue driving. The second problem is that the driver and passenger side windows are deeply tinted. I thought that this is illegal. At night the windows are so dark that you cannot see autos or pedestrians in intersections. I find that I have to roll down the windows so that I can safely see before proceeding through the intersection. I'm not sure what I'm going to do in the winter or a driving rainstorm. I have found that wearing polarized sunglasses helps with the windshield problem but only replacing the side windows will the tinted window problem be fixed.

Can't see out of the front windshield due to extreme glare from the dash design.
During the day a strong glair from the dash obscures the driver's ability to see out the front windshield. I have noticed this several times and on one occasion kept me from seeing a man walking on the side of the road until he was next to my front wheel. There were no indicators letting me know someone what in front of me from the vehicle. On other occasions I have had great difficulty seeing the roadway. I took the vehicle to victory Chevrolet in charlotte, nc, where I purchased it, and asked them if they had a solution and was told there were no known issues and they did not have a solution. They also stated that they would not be able to recreate the issue.
Under certain situations related the angle of the sun and at night oncoming headlights, the dashboard is reflected onto the windshield. When traveling through shaded areas where the sun is blocked and unblocked the reflection on the windshield flickers. The dashboard reflection is so excessive it makes it hard to see and causes eye strain.
Having issues with the windshield wipers clearing rain when driving and multiple camera malfunctions that I have an appointment to have both checked on 12/2. Wiper stops more than 4 inches from the edge of the window which I could probably just deal with, but when driving it pulls water anywhere from 3-8 inches further across the windshield making it very hard to see when it rains harder or you drive faster. I have owned more than 15 vehicles and never experienced anything making it difficult to see during inclement weather. The other issue is the cameras when backing up or going forward will malfunction for a day or two, then be good for a few weeks and malfunctions again sporadically. Have video of windshield wipers clearing rain issues, but it won’t let me submit, so if you want I can email. Pictures don’t show issue as well.
There is a very dangerous glare-reflection of the dashboard on the windshield whenever it is sunny. It is difficult seeing pedestrians, bicyclists and oncoming cars. We have had this car for a few days.
The dash allows for significant amount of glare that reflects in bright sunlight and impare visibility through the windshield.
The reflection of the dash design onto the windshield is a major hazard and can at times entirely obscure visibility of the roadway ahead.
Front wipers stop working in the middle of a rain storm while driving down the highway we were unable to see anything(road/cars)out of the window. We had to put on flashers and stick head out of a rolled down window to (which with rain slapping you in the face is not safe either) try and get to a shoulder on the highway safely. My hubby and I were terrified and thought we were going to die or cause harm to others on the highway. After rain slowed down we got home very slowly with hazard light running. Once home I searched the web for problems that could have caused the wipers to suddenly stop. Results were to check fuses and relays (all checked out fine). I read that it could be a bushing on linkage arm that came off. Husband and I took off wipers and the cowl and sure enough linkage arm bushing had popped off of the ball joint. We tried to replace old bushing with a new one and put everything back together as it was taken off. Turned on wipers and it popped right back off. My car is now sitting in the yard unusable because I can not safely (for my family or other families out there) go any where because it is raining/will rain. There were no warnings or messages nothing they just stopped moving. One of the most scariest things in our lives, so glad our kids and grandson was not with us when it happened and that by the grace of god my husband and I made it home safely. This is very dangerous. It is also not uncommon due to information/videos on the internet. Please help correct this dangerous issue. Car is available for inspection any time thank you.
Issue description: while driving during daylight hours, especially when the sun is positioned at a certain angle, I have observed an intense reflection from the dashboard onto the inside of the windshield. This reflection is bright and widespread, directly obstructing my field of vision and making it difficult to see the road ahead clearly. The glare is particularly noticeable on clear or sunny days and significantly increases the risk of an accident. This visibility issue appears to be related to the dashboard material and design, which may not adequately diffuse or absorb sunlight. I believe this condition may affect other drivers as well, potentially leading to widespread safety concerns. I respectfully urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter and consider whether this condition warrants further examination or manufacturer guidance to reduce the risk associated with glare-induced visibility loss. Please let me know if any further information or documentation (such as photographs or video recordings) would be helpful in reviewing this issue. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your continued efforts in promoting road safety. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

The glare from the dashboard into the windshield blocked my view almost completely when driving on the san francisco International airport ramp, especially when the car was on a downhill ramp. I could not see anything in front of me for a couple seconds. This could have led to an accident should the car infront of me had breaked and stopped. The glare is also visible in normal driving conditions on sunny days and can distract my attention from the road.
Very very bad dash glare will driving vehicle.
The harsh angle of the windshield and the semi-reflective nature of the dash leads to extreme reflections during sunny conditions. This is a safety hazard that can lead to dangerous situations due to the grey/white blocks and stripes in the drivers vision. This is a widely documented issue with Equinox evs 2024 and beyond.
Windshield has heavy glare being reflected from sunlight hitting the dashboard. Almost looks like the entire windshield has a heads up display activated, except it's useless and just my dashboard. This significantly impacts visibility.
