2007 Chevrolet gm3500. Consumer writes in regards to braking system failure. The consumer stated while driving the brakes locked up. The consumer was able to pull the vehicle to the shoulder. The brake lights did not illuminate. After sitting a few minutes, the vehicle went back to normal operation. The brake failure would continue to occur often. The consumer stated the engime light would illuminate when the failure occured. The vehicle was repaired following a service bulletin, but was too soon to tell if the failure would recur.
The contact owns a 2007 cheverolet Express. The contact was driving approximately 45 mph down a steep grade on a mountainous road. When the brake pedal was depressed, the abs warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle began to shake violently. The abs light remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired for the failure and the manufacturer was not made aware of the defect. The failure mileage was 3,000.
Mounting brackets for both front brake caliper hoses were bent forward, causing hoses to contact insides of front tires when wheels were turned. Right/passenger hose wore through, causing loss of brake fluid and loss of braking. Driver managed to stop vehicle safely. Vehicle was then towed to shop for repairs.
