Since purchasing this vehicle in 2018 we have had an ongoing issue of the car randomly going into a violent shaking when exceeding speeds of about 60mph, it happens without warning, and other than coming to an almost standstill, it is impossible to recover the vehicle. This is extremely dangerous on the freeway. Have taken the vehicle to Chevrolet dealership multiple times without any resolution. They would charge us for an alignment and this never fixed the problem. This continues to be an ongoing issue, and now having researched it on the internet, I am reading this is not a unique experience by Chevrolet/gm truck owners.

Paint is peeling from all parts of the exterior vehicle, even around the window frames and door frames! it appears that no paint primer was used, at all! my white van has missing paint from about 75% of the vehicle, with bubbling going on, in the remainder of paint that has yet to fall off! looking at any chevy van that is on the roadways, one can easily see that the paint has also been falling off those vehicles, as well! this is a well-known defect in the painting practices of most all Chevrolet vans, and should be dealt with on a class-action basis, since all Chevrolet van owners are forced to live with an inferior paint scheme on these vehicles! but new owners are not aware of these shortcomings, until they see the paint fall off their vans, for no apparent reason! and it is clearly seen that no paint primer was used, when you look at the paint chip that fell off! shame on Chevrolet and shame on the NHTSA agency for allowing any auto manufacturer to put out such inferior products to unsuspecting consumers!.

Bought this van new & when traveling down a hill, brake assist helps slow up the van. Once the van is on level ground, it will not shift back out of the brake assist & it takes effort or time to return to normal d. I was told I must set up & find a hill. I had major water leaks in the van & once corrected, there started a whistling of air now. The passenger door was 1/4" off, nowhere near flush. How does that get missed? lastly, the right read brake cylinder went out with less then 12,000 miles on it. Many many problems with this "new" van. I'm concerned for my safely & others. The future looks bad with this lemon.
Tl- the contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Express van. The contact rented the vehicle from budget car rental (1919 5th Ave, seattle, wa 98101). While the vehicle was parked on a hill, the contact's mother was exiting from the rear passenger sliding door. Without warning, the sliding door closed on the contact's mother's right forearm and caused minor busing. No police report, there was medical attention at the scene when the contact injured her right forearm and wrapped the contact mother arm. No dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,540. Ck ## VIN passed ## 2019 Chevrolet Express van ##.

The side hinges seize up and break. It throws the door alignment off and I am no longer able to completely close the front side door and it keeps the passenger door from opening also. This is a continueing problem Chevrolet has with their Express vans. It is a design problem and also cheap materials caused it to rust and seize up and then break the hinge, the hinge is welded on. Very expensive to have repared. It is dangerous as people can not get out of the van. Chevrolet needs to offer an inexpensive fix for this.

The van was parked in my driveway stationary. It caught fire and proceeded to burn completely for unknown reasons. The website states this VIN number is not included in any recalls but the vehicle type has a recall listed that states it could be a fire hazard.

When I came outside the glass was broken and had been thrown to the outside of the vehicle. The vehicle had been driven the day before and was fine. It was parked in the shade and away from anything which could have hit it. It was locked and not touched in any way. The broken fragments were on the ground below the glass frame area. It is the same type of glass that I saw in the story on the news yesterday about the sun roofs that break. When I saw the story I knew this had to be the explanation. I have a picture and the text I sent that day because I was so shocked at how something like this could happen, it made no sense. Now it makes perfect sense.
Parking brake cable found rubbing on the hydraulic service brake line, forward of the rear axle on drivers side of chassis. Wear is evident on hydraulic service brake line and parking cable, along with component parking brake assembly was stuck under.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Express g1500. The contact stated that the driver and passenger side double door hinges failed and the doors could not be opened. The dealer advised that the door hinges needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 109,000 and the approximate failure mileage was 110,00.
I have also experienced problems with both the passenger and driverã‚s side cargo door hinges not operating properly and binding. This problem with the hinges has occurred despite our efforts to keep the hinges lubricated to try to prevent the doors from binding so badly that it made opening the doors almost impossible even for a strong, grown man. I had to have both of these problems addressed by either the handicapped vehicle conversion company or thornton Chevrolet on those occasions when these problems became so severe that they prevented my utilization of the vehicle. The most recent occurrence of problems with the hinges took place on September 6, 2011. I contacted the collision repair shop at thornton Chevrolet and had them attempt to correct the issue by replacing the hinge pin assembly on the problem door on the passenger side (where my wheelchair lift is installed and used to allow me to enter and exit the vehicle). However, the trained collision repair specialists at thornton Chevrolet realized that the problem was more serious than this and informed me that the entire lower hinge assembly on the rear passenger cargo door needed to be replaced because of a crack in the metal of the hinge assembly where it is welded to the vehicle. As you will realize, this could have been an extremely serious safety problem had I not been outside of the vehicle on the three separate instances when the latch mechanism failed to operate properly. Had I been inside the vehicle or not at my residence (such as being at my place of employment) when this occurred, I would have been trapped inside the vehicle.

Summer time noticed aluminum corner panels started to buckle or flare out from the bottoms thought it possibly got hit bye a trailer but as time went on they flared out even more then in 2011 they started peeling off on one side on each corner so we contacted our dealership with the problem in witch they told us it was recalled for that reason their was no rivets in the corner panels so they would fall off. So we contacted spartan supreme corp who made the box and was to warranty the box who claimed our warranty was up. So we went down bought parts sent pictures and was going to fix it our selves. But at looking at fixing it had gotten so bad that the corners was no longer straight the entire box is shifted and is bowing out on the sides with jarred side panel sors which are rubbing when u shut them and looks unrepairable. We then called again to spartan and they told me it would have been under warranty when we called the first time (early 2011) and now it's out of warrant (late 2011). So at this point we have a box truck with on missing corner panel which blew off somewhere off down the road and a leaning box with which could fall apart at anytime.
Van has always been used for residential electrical work. Nothing has ever been hung on the side doors, however, the hinges are sagging to the point that the doors are overlapping and are nearly unusable. We know of another chevy Express van that is doing the same thing.

The side doors on both sides very hard to open because you cannot grease them, the sunroof leaks ,back rear doors handles stop working, took these problems several times to be address and paid for some of the work to be done to no avail still have the problems, I have a son that's disable and its very dangerous if something happens and we cannot get him out the doors, plus the sunroof leaks so bad that anyone in the rear will get soak again paid to have it done but to no avail. Call gm but again no help just was told they knew about the problem and that's why they change the hinges this year, granted I had this problem with the hinges on a 2001 chevy 1500 Express both van I purchased new to say I had these problems within a few weeks or months after purchase and no recall and to say they knew about the problem.
During a family ouging we were unable to close the right rear passenger door. Experienced difficulty closing door. After several attempts, I noticed the door was not aligned with the body of the car which prohibited thedoor latch to connect and close. The door would not close shut completely and has since kno ked while driving and also creates a safet y hazard for children & adults because it it te primary exit for the rear exit to the sidewalk forcing passengers to exit from the rear left door passenger door onto the street to oncomming traffic that can lead to accident, bodily injury or fatality. No prior maintenance instructions or suggested upkeep was documented in the buyers manual which came with the vehicle that would indicate possible hinge corrosion or rusting. Possible pin defect detected by certified dealer on 10/7/2012, when taken in for datety recall on fule filler pipe recall 12166 campaygn id#12v388. Multiple complaint for hinge/pins have been documented in complaints on safercar. Org website for 2003 chevy Express van. I believe this issue should be investigated to avoid accidental deaths due to inoperable access to sidewalk from the left rear passenger door.

I own 2000 chevy Express 2500 passenger van. I bought the van new from the dealer and within two years the side door hinges had seized up. This resulted in the inside door trim panels breaking as the passengers in the rear tried to close the doors. I took the vehicle back to the dealer and their way of correcting the problem was to hammer out the hinge pins and replace them with new ones. Within one year the same problem occurred and has persisted. There is no way to lubricate the hinges to allow for the doors to open and close easily. I recently took the van back to the dealer and the new way to fix the problem is to cut off the old hinges and weld new ones on. The parts department even has "hinge replacement" packages set up because the problem is so common. The new fix is estimated at over $1,700. 00. This does not even include the replacement costs of the inside door trim panels that are still broken. (if the door is closed too hard the door panels overlap and stick making it impossible to open the door from the inside. We have to carry a straight screwdriver in the van at all times just to get the door panels unstuck). This is obviously a problem that gm was and is still fully aware of and yet no recall has been issued for the hinges to be replaced at their cost. The faulty hinges make the passenger van worthless and an extreme safety hazard for any owner.
