2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Express

Failure Date: 09/08/2025

Catalytic converter cracked at exhaust manifold @5 yrs, 34,600 miles. Known problem, denial, scam warranty allowing them to break ‘clean air act’ and scam customers into paying. On the hook myself for a fed law requiring manufacturers repair. At my shop getting fixed when they offered to fix after my mention of fraud! 3 years of claimed-broken welds in vans (doghouse over motor). I know of 4th year problem. Also not believing bad weld. Engineer friend says stress crack. Weak metal, no support due to flex pipe I believe. Cheap parts, money over safety again. And I have proof they do it and deny, misdiagnose, and lie. Criminal I think. Posting online about warranty scam. I was schooled in auto, small business owner. I know law! given up on gov I’m sorry to say.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Express

Failure Date: 04/30/2023

2008 Chevrolet Express van stalled while driving. I was able to coast over to the highway's shoulder. Van restarted after a few attempts and I resumed driving towards a small town ahead. Van re-stalled in the town. Attendant at small garage said the van had diagnostic codes for the fuel system. I was able to idle the van to a Chevrolet dealership for servicing. The dealership diagnosed and replaced the fuel pump driver module (part 20759945) (aka: chassis electronic control module) 17-days later, for about $650. Why wasn't I given notice and serviced under gm recall bulletin 14515 or 14515b, which specifies my van and that exact part? the dealership said my van is not part of that recall. The NHTSA site says my van has no pending recalls. The problem is serious enough that the recall bulletin applies regardless of years or miles. Even if an affected vehicle came in for an oil change, it can't be released until 20759945 is replaced. Van now suffering from code for upset oxygen sensor. Van is specified in the recall bulletin but was not added to the database of vehicles to be serviced!.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Express

Failure Date: 04/26/2017

Vehicle goes into engine reduced speed and service traction control and service stabili track warning lights turn on. I have had this problem starting a week after I purchased my van and was "repaired" on numerous occasions and the problem keeps reoccurring. The incidents happen while driving and when stationary while engine was running. The dealer replaced the accelerator petal assembly a couple of times and also replaced the throttle body position sensor and the problem still continues. The last time I took it in the dealer put dielectric in the harness and said I might have a moisture problem. The problem reoccurred again a few weeks later. I don't see how moisture could be the problem since it started a week after purchase and continues 4 years later.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Express

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

The engine will go to low power and not go more than 30 mph without warning. This is an ambulance chassis and is a know problem gm has not addressed yet in the 2012 and 2013 chassis. It can do this on hwys with speed limits of 55, 65, 70 mph suddenly which could cause an accident as no stop lights give any warning and you can't speed up anytime in poor visibility or at anytime. Not only is it bad for the injured or ill patient it could cause an accident and injury others. Gm has fixed this on the 2014 and newer models but not 12 &13. This is not just our one unit this is 2012 and 2013 chevy diesels ambulance all over the us. We have four units that it can happen to and two that is has with patients. I have contacted the epa, gm, and our indiana state senators trying to get this dangerous situation taken care of in the last few days. I am asking anyone who will listen to help push gm for a fix.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Express

Failure Date: 06/05/2015

The vehicle randomly and autonomously applies the brakes and cuts engine power while driving. At this time the vehicle states "service stabilitrak" and the icon flashes that I am skidding, which I am not (I have video proof of this occuring). After 4 trips to the dealership the problem still persists. It is only a matter of time for this to occur while merging, or making a left across traffic and cause a serious and potentially fatal collision.

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Express

Failure Date: 12/21/2014

My speedometer quickly jumps from one indicated speed to another speed that is clearly inaccurate, down as low as -0- while driving, accompanied by the transmission attempting to downshift on it's own, which causes a severe engine over-rev condition or going into a neutral momentarily with no input from me as the driver. There are no specific actions I can take to trigger the erratic symptom, nor any specific action I can take to cause normal operation. With snow and ice on the roads at this time of the year this is extremely dangerous as it could cause the van to lock up the rear wheels on slippery pavement causing lack of control. This condition can occur regardless of whether or not cruise control is selected, regardless of the gear I manually select, and regardless of the trailer mode being selected or not. Simultaneously the "check engine" light goes on, the "abs light" and "brakes" lights are lit on the dashboard although no braking abnormalities are noted. I reported a less severe case of this several months ago, but received no reply from the NHTSA. Doing internet research I find that it may be a defective speedometer dashboard assembly that would need to be sent away for repair/exchange. They require a large deposit in order to go thru the verification process that the odometer reading I report is the same as the unit I send in. Part cost with deposit is close to $600, and they show an online internet video of how to remove the dashboard unit which takes less than 3 minutes. I've read this is a common problem with this vehicle make, model and year. I am the original owner since new, and it has less than 17,000 actual miles on it.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Express

Failure Date: 06/10/2014

The first and second (of three incidents) both appeared minor, lasting only a fraction of a second. About half way through a 150-mile drive, the engine went dead but as quickly fired up agailn so as not to be taken seriously by me. But a third incident was worrisome. While driving about 50 mph on a straight, flat-and-level stretch of a macadem farm road, the van suddenly, very abruptly, shifted into what must have been its lowest gear, and during about 15 or 20 seconds thereafter it jerked back and forth as if it were struggling to climb a very steep hill. I had not been shifting or trying to shift gears, and had been traveling uneventfully before I was thrown against the steering wheel. (no brake lights would have warned other vehicles that the van was abruptly slowing down, had I been in busier, fast moving traffic. ) I visited the (fairfield, lewsiburg, PA) dealer from whom I bought the brand new van, and he appeared unable to discover anything wrong but "brushed" clean the contact points within electronic displays (as I understood his explanation) on the dashboard . But the incident could not be duplicated just by test driving. However, my concerns grew at the prospect of again driving long distances on busy highways. I emailed Chevrolet (as directed in the van's manual). . Last I recall, Chevrolet asked that I return a survey sent to me over the internet, but each of numerous times that I tried to, using the password they provided, I could not access the survey. That survey snafu may be worth mentioning because when I complained about their web site not functioning, they replied that they had no problem accessing the survey! odd reaction? so I was not able to complete the survey, which is partly why I am sending this message instead to you. (the van to date has fewer than 2,000 miles driven. ).

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Express

Failure Date: 04/16/2014

For the second time in one week the engine raced to max rpm without a throttle input. Had to put it in neutral to slow down with the brakes. The first time (35mph slowing down for a red light) went to neutral, foot on brake and back to drive, the engine responded normally. Last night the engine raced to max rpm again 100 feet from my parking spot going less than 5mph went to neutral back to drive no change in engine speed back to neutral glide to parking spot turned engine off. No warning when the max engine rev would begin, one was slow speed the other moderate speed, temp 75 one day, temp 45 yesterday. Worked fine today. Worried the problem is not repeatable or can be found using a code reader. Worried that the only way now to stop max engine rpm is by turning engine off, not safe while driving on the interstate.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Express

Failure Date: 07/10/2013

While transporting a patient in this ambulance the dash warning notice came on warning the def tank level was low and the vehicle would soon go into limp mode. The def tank had just been filled to full. Strange readings continued to appear warning of either just a few miles or over 2000 miles. I was afraid of having a patient die in our ambulance if the ambulance went into limp mode on a long transport to phoenix so I took the ambulance to the dealer who replaced the def tank for $1547. 33. I was told by rose at the gm customer complaint line that emissions problems should have been covered by warantee but I cannot get my money back. Gm states they have no reports of this problem occurring but the internet is full of similar complaints.

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Express

Failure Date: 09/01/2003

This vehicle was bought brand new but unbeknown to me was made in canada (something which would not have been acceptable to me had I been told). Upon possession the windshield molding came off on the ride home. The driver side tierod end went at 12,000 miles and again at 24,000 miles because upon inspection the ball joints were never properly tightened. The bolts on the transmission were found by the dealer to have been never properly tightened. The sidedoor hinge had to be replaced at a cost of $600 because it froze up and could not be opened. The power steering unit rusted out at 12,000 miles and started leaking fluid and, what I find most important, I am not sure if I have airbags because the airbag light stays on but is noted to go off when the key is partially turned however the key cannot stay in this position and must be turned to start the vehicle. Fuel expectation was never near what I was told it would be and tailpipe consistently showed evidence of being blackened due to insufficient fuel burning. The poor backdoor design makes it difficult to see out the back window and it is clearly evident by almost every van of this type having a dented bumper due to this blindspot in design. I have not begun to list all the things not right with this vehicle but I will chalk them up to downright lying and just inferior parts and craftsmenship. This vehicle has been a nightmare.
