When driving my 2009 Hhr the steering wheel shakes & vibrate at different intervals. Usually while slowing down to a stop & sometimes after during high speeds. Recently the noise it made was frightening. I had to use my emergency flashers & drive 50 mi per hr. On the freeway to arrive home safely. I took my car to mark Chevrolet & reported it on 08/02/2021. The car's mileage was 133344. The car is not an everyday vehicle that is driven often. I received the car on 08/17/2021 after the steering column & shaft were replaced along with resurfacing front brake rotors & rear brake job. On August 18, 2021 while driving on the freeway I went to blow my horn at a hazardous situation & discovered none of the steering wheels controls were working, horn & etc. I immediately returned my car to mark Chevrolet & reported their negligence & how they had risk my life to release the car without these functions working. They supposedly corrected the problem. On 07/05/2022 I had to return my car to mark Chevrolet because I was experiencing the identical problem with my steering wheel vibrating & make noise. My cars mileage was only 137641 less than a year later with just 4,297 miles driven. They claimed to have tightened something up in the column & returned my car on 07/12/2022. As I was driving on 07/16/2022 again the steering wheel started vibrating & making strange loud noises. I felt so unsafe & tried to make it home safely driving at a reduced speed. I plan to return the car this week back to mark Chevrolet and am asking for support to rectify this situation. I understand there was a recall on Chevrolet Hhr 2009 steering electric power assist system. I don't know if this issue is related to that. I never received communication from general motors stating that my vehicle was affected but apparently there is a problem. Please help!.
Something with steering and esc problem unknown for now. The fuel line leaked and needed replacement. The drivers wiper is in visibility.
My car's power steering has dangerously disappeared while I was driving on the highway. The power steering came on on the dashboard and I had to stir the car with so much force to get off the highway. I had my 10-year-old son with me on his way to school. No one knows why this happened and I can't drive it with a 10-year-old boy who I have to get to school and myself and my wife to work. Mechanic after mechanic no one can tell why the power steering wont work. Please help!.

The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the air bag message displayed on the instrument panel before the power steering malfunctioned causing the steering wheel to become very difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle then started to stall. After turning off and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated normally. The failure occurred on several occasions. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer wade Chevrolet located at 1670 hilton dr, st. George, ut 84770 was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 141,000.
The vehicle has started losing power steering at low speeds intermittently. In researching the problem, a recall on the electronic power steering for this 2009 Hhr was found. In addition, I found that gm issued a bulletin (14119) under recall n140115, stating that for model year 2006-2008 and early production 2009 Hhrs, to provide eps motor replacement for the life of the vehicle. Since I have not had this vehicle since 2009, I contacted the dealership to look up the recall history and found the eps motor was replaced once already. However, this late 2008 production/mid-2009 delivery Hhr is losing power steering at low speeds again. While myself and teenage daughter have driven it on the road. The dealership could get no diagnostic code of this and has told me there is no open recall on this vehicle and we are responsible for paying for the motor replacement. I am very disturbed that this problem 1. Generates no code, 2. Is being unacknowledged by gm, and 3. Seems to be an on-going threat to safety for many Hhr drivers. Gm has made a mistake in not including my make/model (or so it seems) in the bulletin pertaining to replacing the eps motor for life and is failing to acknowledge that they may have additional vehicles on the road needing to be serviced, especially when the driver states there is a problem posing a serious safety concern. Note, the production of my Hhr being in 2008, delivered in 2009 and failure by gm to acknowledge under bulletin 14119.
Have owned 1- 2008 & 1-2009 Hhr ss with 2. 0l turbo charger and manual 5 speed trans, and right at 100,000 miles the front suspension makes a horrendous noise like the front suspension is going fall out from under it when hitting small bumps . Also if you move the steering wheel back and forth it will make a very similar noise. The 2008 got totaled from a lady pulling out in front of me had changed the sway bar end links prior to accident made no change. Meeting the same mileage on the 2009 and already making the same exact noise . Almost afraid to drive it on the freeway for fearing of loosing the steering and killing anyone. I have read up on this concern and have seen alot of people with same noise and have spent 1,000s of dollars and noise still there. You would think someone would have been able to correct the problem before there are deaths involved but even the dealership can't find the fix. Really feel like this should be investigated at once, can't believe that there hasn't been a recall done yet.
2009 chevy Hhr had problems with stick gear stuck and will not move on position to dr or rev for several minutes. Car has been hesitating and racing to then jerks like I'm being hit. Happens everyone I press on the gas . I took it into bauchman Chevrolet to have serviced and was told it was fixed 2 weeks later it is doing it again. It almost caused a rear end due to hesitation. I need to get this fixed by dealership. Others have reported same issues .
My 2009 Hhr has a problem with the shift gear sticking and not releasing to put it in drive or reverse also I bet problems where the car is revving up while driving and then jerks like someone is hitting it from behind I took it into bachman Chevrolet to have it fixed and they said it was fixed it is now doing the same problem again I'm afraid I'm going to be hit while driving when it starts jerking and hesitating and the engine is revving while in drive not sure what is going on while I'm driving.

Loss of power steering was indicated on the dashboard display as well as by a series of dings. Power steering was restored the next time I started the engine. It failed again the next day. It now fails within moments of starting the car every time. I contacted the dealership, but they had no information on when parts would be available for the recall.
They need to give rental cars untilthey get the parts in this would insure our safty and speed up the process that they say they are vmaking the parts as fast as possible . That's just not exceptable. Fix our cars right now I am not ready to die in gm junk. My air bag light came on says it needs serice well fix it gm. I cant worrie all the time the stress is to much.

On April 28, 2014, while taken a curve power steering (ps) stopped working, lost control and damage only wheel cover, fortunately the area a came to a full stop was clear of car and people. The ps worked fine soon after that. Again, on may 10, 2014 the ps went out again, but this time I was taking a small turn and was able to control steered it in the right direction. Presently we are researching the malfunction to cure the problem, but unable to locate the problem.
Power steering is intermitently going out. I can turn the car off and on again and it works for a while then gives out again.
Power steering quit working. Restarted vehicle and power steering resumed working. Over next two weeks intermittant loss of power steering became more frequent. A recall issued for this exact problem on this make and model does not include my VIN number. Therefore Chevrolet will not acknowledge the problem with this vehicle for repair at their expense. The symptoms are the same as in nthsa complaint number 14v153000.
The esc light cae on and it became difficult to steer, turn, and jerking when I apply the brakes. I've taken my Hhr to the dealership on 3 and 4 of April 2014 for software update. Back to dealership on 7,8,9, for computer, however there was no additional charge. 17 April same issues as the 3 rd. 21 st to tweek the esc problems. I have spoke with jeff theservice manager at rinke Chevrolet 586 754 7000. I have left several messages for ed rinke the dealership owner. I need my vehicle to be safe! can you please assist me 313-377-4814 shoequeen606@gmail. Com.
I have received safety recalls for potentially fatal system failures to my vehicle. I was told by the dealership that there are no replacement parts to fix this issue, and they have no idea when they will have parts. So until then I am to drive this unsafe vehicle, with my family in it and just hope for the best? I tried to purchase another vehicle, as we typically do after 2-3 years of financing, only to find not one dealership will buy it back from me in trade, including the one I purchased it from, due to the major safety recalls. So I am essentially trapped in a vehicle that has already had 2 of the 3 recalls actually occur to it, and just hope the one that can cause a fatal crash, does not also happen.
The power steering malfunctioned on my chevy Hhr on 3/19/2014 for the first time. It has happened several times since then, today--4/3/2014 being the most recent. Every time the warning lights start flashing because my power steering has gone out. The first time I was doing 50 mph while passing a state trooper. Because of the malfunction I was unable to fully move over a lane and was ticketed. When I explained the fact that I was confused because I did not know what was going on with the car and was not able to move over properly the state trooper did not believe me and issued me a $435 ticket! it was 2 weeks after that incident that the car was recalled for a faulty power steering motor. No kidding. That ticket is not fair to me and the entire situation is dangerous. When the power steering goes out I have little control over the car. When I shut the car off and restart it the power steering is again okay--at least until the next time it goes out and tries to kill my family. I have repeatedly contacted my local chevy dealer--as I read online I could get a loaner car until mine was fixed for the recall, and my calls are not being returned. Meanwhile me and my children's lives are in danger. This is not okay. I have no other car to drive. I spent a lot of money on this vehicle. Chevy should give me a loaner car while I wait for repair--our lives are in danger. Also, I have a ticket that I have to go to court for. Chevy should be ashamed.
I was driving down the road and dash started flashing and beeping saying power steering . The power steering quit working while turning on snowy roads this am. I pulled over checked fuses. Called dealer who states bring it in. When I restarted car power steering working again. This was a scary experience later today as im driving on freeway at 65 or so power steering went out again. My question is this is a safety issue. With more research I am seeing this is common for these cars and recalls on other Chevrolets have been made for same reason. This is scary especially in northeast ohio snow weather and icy roads. Ive been told cant pinpoint this until I take it in to the shop when the power steering goes out. So I guess I wait til it happens again really??? if I work far from dealership guess im supposed to drive it to dealership when it goes out at 9 pm what a joke. Hope they figure out this glitch. . . . Have to share I have had this happen a while ago when had less miles and thought it was a fluke now it returns. Yes high miles but car has been serviced as per recommendations since owning it.
The power steering stopped working while driving and still does not work. The passenger air bag turns on and off intermittently when no one is in the seat.

The electrical system in the car has shut down and has caused my power steering to go out while I am driving. It dings so I have some notice. But none the less really scary and very hard to turn going 20 mph. My brakes are very hard when this happens. My thermostat/ coolant information is currently displayed as dashes (----) across my dash, making this really difficult to know if it is hot or has run out and my ac is connected to this also so when it decides to work my ac will work. It will turn off and on while driving too. My mph reads my speed going 20 mph over what I am actually driving. My car has completely shut off while driving. The check engine light comes on and off making it more difficult to get codes.
Power steering overheats causing power steering to quit working when wheel is turned to left or right while car is stopped. The movement is necessary to parallel park the car. Once overheated you no longer have power steering making the car difficult to drive. This is very dangerous for a new teenage driver. Chevy knows of the issue, was told by gm that a replacement motor has the same issue.
While operating the vehicle into a gradual left turn, a series of chimes sounded from the vehicle and a message was displayed in the communications center stating the message "power steering". The vehicle had lost power assisted steering but retained manual steering. This was reset by turning the vehicle ignition off and restarting the vehicle.
Power steering message on the driver information center (dic) and loss of power steering causing difficult steering and an unsafe driving condition.

The failure mileage was 67,000. Kmj.
While driving the 2009 chevy Hhr back from work, without warning, the electric power steering stopped and a warning message came up on the dic. Once ignition was shut off the problem cleared temporarily. Over the past 24 hours the power steering has continued to exhibit the same erratic behavior.
While driving at 35 mph power steering cut out on vehicle. After pulling over & restarting engine p/steering returns for short period and cuts out again. Where is govt. Recall? same components used on chevy cobalt and they were recalled. No recall om Hhr. Oh wait, nobody died yet!!!! eventually somebody will. Don't wait till it's too late.
