Manual Transmission Problems of Chevrolet HHR

Shifting gears with a 2007 chevy Hhr . The top of gear shift came off in my hand and I lost control of the vehicle . This is definitely a safety problem with this model.

2008 Hhr-Chevrolet. Manual transmission. Driving down the road and the top half of the gear shift knob came off and fell into the drivers side floor and under the brake pedal. I was just extremely lucky it was early in the morning and I was in the right hand lane where I could down shift to slow down and pull over to the side of the road to remove the top of the knob. When I called the dealer to bring it in he said there was somebody standing right in front of him with the same problem.

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Hhr. While driving 45 mph, the top section of the knob on the gear shifter suddenly detached. The contact continued to drive the vehicle by grabbing the middle part of the shifter. He noticed that the knob was injection molder plastic, which was shielded off. The vehicle has not been inspected, but the contact believed a recall should be issued for this defect. The current and failure mileages were 52,900.
