Vehicle fire. Vehicle caught fire while cruising at highway speeds. Very dangerous. Vehicle is a total loss.
The security system locks and will not let me start the vehicle every couple times the vehicle is started.
The power steering return hose rubs against some part of the motor and rub a hole in power steering return house.
Coolant system has been an ongoing problem with the vehicle. After refilling coolant and oil, it was discovered that oil and coolant were dripping underneath the car. According to a gm representative, there are service bulletins out for this year make and model, but I've been told my VIN is not one of them. It has all the same symptoms described in other bulletins. I'm not sure how/why this VIN isn't included when the same symptoms exist.
Under the hood fire and unintended key rotation. Maybe 5 days after I took my vehicle into tc chevy (in ashland oregon) to have the 2 recalls repaired on it. I tried to start my car and it caught on fire down by the front bumper and the flames made it to the back side of the motor and ignited the fuel lines causing a Mini explosion under the hood, mean while I'm sitting in the driver's seat. I jumped out of the car nearly having the life scared out of me, I popped the hood and grabbed my house garden house and started to try and put the fire out and minimize the damage to my vehicle while I waited for the fire department to reach my house. The fire department showed up and was able to get the fire put out almost torching one of the firefighters head when the fuel pump kicked on without the keys in the ignition and started shooting gasoline reigniting the fire. I'm lucky the fire didn't burn down my house and my neighbor's house that day seeing how the fire caught the bush next door on fire and there was flames 14 ft in the air. See chevy and gm have been trying to act like the fire and the damage to the vehicle is my own fault and none of their own even though the technician says none of the repairs were actually done. I've been trying to get an investigation done and they're trying to push my claim aside and sweep it under the rug. My vehicle was parked in my driveway at my home right next to a bush not my neighbor's house is right up against. Please look into this so that it doesn't get swept under the rug. Please help me. I also have the firefighters report.

Your recall 15757 is ineffective and soon to be a law suit if someone does not tell the dealer that they have to fix the problem not hide behind the fact that they still don't have the parts. I called newburgh and poughkeepsie and they don't have parts. I drive children in this vehicle and if anything law suit will be initiated.

May 16. 2014 at 6:30 am I parked the car in my driveway after taking my husband to work. I locked the doors after exiting the vehicle with my keys in hand. I was in my home at about 6:42 am when my neighbor began banging on my door and yelling that the car was on fire, I took a look out of the window and came down to get a closer look, stunned there was smoke everywhere and flames under the hood. I immediately called 911 they came it took a good bit of time putting the fire out. I spoke to the firefighters after and he said he believed it"s origin was electrical. We received a quote to repair, replace the engine coolant tube on may 6,2014 from tire discounters and my plan was to drop the car off the morning of 5/16. My husband and I are both heart patients and the loss of this car was devastating. I also would like to add that we had just purchased this vehicle on April 6. 2014 . The car is a total loss. We have the quote from tire discounters, video and pictures from the fire and the report from the incident. I pray for others that didn't learn of this recall in time with tragic results and I am grateful no loss of life occurred here but the pain of trying to get to appointments and getting my husband back and forth to work at honeywell begins again. Thank you for your ear.

My car will not start properly. The security light will flash several times but the engine will not turn over. Sometimes the security light will just stay on and it will turn over. This has caused a lot of problems for me. I have two children and we end up stuck places for 10, 20, or 30 minutes, up to an hour. I have taken it to the dealership and they wanted $400. To fix the security chip and the key shaft because that is what is making the security system mess up. Well now there is a recall on my car with the key, but they will not fix the chip for free and I do not have money to spend on it!.
The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that after parking, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 108,732.
I was driving on the back roads at the speed limit of 55mph when the car started to jerk violently. I didn't know what was going on so I let off the gas and hit the brakes a little. I was able to come to a stop safely, but the jerking was dangerous as it propelled me into the oncoming traffic when I was on a curve. I don't feel safe driving the car now. The car shows no codes and no warning signals. I think it has something to do with the transmission, but I am not sure. I read many others with transmission problems and I think this is more dangerous than people think and it should be recalled if its a known problem. I dont know what to do.
Acted as if it dosen't have power steering when turning to the left, very stiff, and jerky. Total cut out on a freeway on ramp for about 20 seconds. When try to put fuel in gas tank have to hold fueling nozzle barley open or it will not take fuel. Drove to work, got off of work went to start it, it would start with out a jump.

Bought this 2003 Chevrolet Impala on Jan. 2 2012 and rocker arms have been replaced 6 times since then, just today March 11,2013 ( miles are 67483) back in for same thing, car was just in on Feb. 13,2013 for rocker arms ( miles were 100396) and the dealer put a new engine in and in less then a month back in same thing. Head lights don't work right. This car is faulty and should be recalled and off the road before someone kills them self or someone else. When the rocker arms went didn't have power and almost crashed onto a was when turning a bend. Very dangerous vehicle!!!.
Car will shut down while driving and security light will flash. Has done it numerous times, worried it will cause an accident. There are multiple cases of this problem on internet.
Blown head gasket. Doing searches on internet, there are thousands of complaints for this issue with this engine type! spare us all the expensive repair cost and issue a recall already!.
2003 chevy Impala is overheating and we have done a lot to it and it still overheats and the antifreeze runs out when you put it in car and the heat blows cold air all the time.
The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that she was putting oil in the vehicle when she began to smell plastic burning and then saw sparking coming from underneath the engine. The contact stated that as soon as she saw the sparks, the engine ignited into flames. There was no injuries and the vehicle was destroyed. The police and the fire department came and filed reports. Engine accelerates to 3,000 rpm during warm up (sometimes). Usually occurs about five minutes after cold start. Has lasted 10 to 15 minutes while driving. Has not repeated during same day and not happen again for days or weeks during the past five months. Replaced ecm (computer), iac (idle air control), coolant temp. Sensor and cleaned throttle body. Dealer cannot suggest solution. Unable to get car to dealer while problem is happening. Scanned for dtcs multiple times, none. Controlling speed with brake is not a good solution. Safety hazard! the consumer stated when the body control module failed, the key fob would not work, the engine would not start, the interior lights would not come on and the head light would not turn off. The consumer had to disconnect the battery, in order to turn the head lights off. After reconnecting the battery, everything returned to normal. The bcm was replaced. Updated 03/19/13.
When to start car and would not start. Lights and radio would come on. Had a new battery put in and the alternator checked. 2 weeks later when to pick up niece from the baby sitter, was inside for 3 minutes came back out car would not start again. After 45 minutes of trying to start it finally started. Yesterday, went out to my car to drive to a meeting and once again it would not start. About 40 minutes later I went back out to try it again and it started right up. I did research online and found several complaints. Apparently this is a pass code issue. I do not feel I should have to go and get all this work done when there is no real solution. The code will not always come up so nobody knows what exactly is wrong with the car. In summary, the security system thinks that I am trying to steel my own car. This has left me stranded in the cold 3 different times. I am a 25 year old lady. That is totally unsafe and as there is no real solution to the problem that anyone can find how and I supposed to get it fixed. I have a child on the way. This is not the only year that does it either. All Impalas have this issue from the years 2003-2005. How can a recall not be issued. I called chevy and they basically said to go to a dealer but that is not an acceptable answer when I read that several people have spent thousands of dollars at their dealer on the same issue and are still having issues. . I have had incidents several times over the years where I would hit a bump in the road and my car would completly shut off. I have also had several incidents where I was traveling down the expressway and my car turned off on me. I had to shift my car into neutral and restart it to continue going. I was fortunate not to have an accident.
